1075 Words
“Finally” Byron stated as he watched Annette approach her apartment door. “Why are you always here?” Annette walked over to the door and unlocked it granting Byron access into the apartment. “Harsh” Byron pouted dropping a box on the middle table in her small living room. Annette stared at the box and picked up the card that was attached to it – see you tomorrow evening “Saw it lying in front of the door… you going on a date?” Byron tilted his head staring critically at Annette who smirked. “Something like that” “Really?” he raised his brows obviously aware of the fact that she was teasing him. “Louisa invited me for a party” she said moving behind the kitchen counter to grab a drink from the fridge. “Oh!” Byron stared around the messy apartment and then back at Annette “Honestly Anne when do you plan to do something about this place” she frowned at his statement while tossing him a can drink. “Why are you here?” she opened up the can she had in her hand taking a small sip before placing it on the counter. “You act like you don’t want me around” he pouted again making himself comfortable on the couch. “You think” Annette stared at Byron and he sighed “Look, old man Charles told me you were looking for someone called Catherine Lona” “He did huh? Of course” she said taking another sip from the can and placing it back on the counter. “No need to be like that, I ran her through the database and got some information on her” he said handing her a file “She lost her parents and little sister when she was six, ran away from the orphanage at the age of ten… was arrested several times for gambling and was admitted into a psychiatric hospital at the age of sixteen, she is now an owner of really famous casino in Brenvic city” “Umm… thanks” Annette walked over to him and took the file from his hand examining the content. “Anne I know you want to do all this alone but you still got me, you can trust me” “I know that Byron but things are going to get heated soon and I don’t want you involved in all that” Annette placed her hand on his shoulder with a smile “By the way this is my fight” “Just got to know what this Catty girl wants from me” she went through the files critically why Byron stared at her feeling really worried – For as long as he had known her she’d never once given herself a break… it was like her sole purpose was to put an end to her parents murderer and he couldn’t help but wonder what she’d do when she finally accomplish that. “I thought you should be at work” Annette said looking up from the file “Well there is no major case at the station right now so I thought I should drop by but since you really don’t want me around, I’d be on my way” Byron stood up from the couch and headed for the door “Please don’t do anything stupid” he said as he placed his hand on the handle of the door. “I’ll try” Annette grinned and watched as he exited the building. She dropped the file on the middle table and opened up the box that laid in front of her, an invitation card laid inside the box alongside a black gown and a jewelry box. “Must be a fancy party” she muttered picking up the box and heading to her room. She placed the box on her dresser and walked up to her bed, laying on it she opened up her laptop and scrolled through her inbox, she’d receive another email from Catty… she sighed and opened it up. Hi can we meet… please!!! Annette stared at the message and thought deeply on what the girl wanted to see her. Why? She typed not really in the mood for any side traction. Thank God, you finally replied… Her message came in almost immediately and Annette paused on her screen for a while. I need your help… this next message threw her off balance, was this i***t sick… here she was thinking the damn girl had some information for her, she frowned and her fingers moved quickly on the keypad …I don’t know what you heard about me but I’m not santa's little helper… …You were looking for information on the humanoid clan at the daylight bar right? sounded fun so I did some research and now I’m in a huge pickle… Catty sat cheerfully behind her computer as she typed these words. She was so glad Annette had decided to answer her… Annette on the other hand didn’t want anything to do with Catty, she seemed like a lot of trouble. ...what happened?... …Seems like gathering information about the humanoid draws a lot of attention to you, long story short they want me dead… …I’m guessing you knew that already and still went ahead with it… …Well as I said wanted to have a little fun… …Cool have fun in the afterlife… Annette shut her laptop and exhaled laying her back on the bed. “Seriously?” she frowned a bit tempted to ask what information she was able to gather but honestly speaking she didn’t want anything to do with Catty. “Catherine Lona, what are you really after” she thought aloud, she’d been around criminals long enough to know that even the most psychotic beings had a hidden agenda behind any step they took. It was obvious that Catty wanted to get close to her but why? She turned over to her laptop again and opened it …When do you want to meet?... she stared at her screen for a while waiting for a reply …This weekend, I’ll find you… “Yeah, I’m going to regret this” Annette sighed staring at the reply on her screen, she shut the laptop again and laid lazily on the bed “Louisa and Catty” she smirked as she slowly shut her eyes.
