Chapter 8 - UNEXPECTED VISIT

A bang on the door woke Annette and she stared at the time feeling really irritated, it was 4:30am… ‘who the hell was at the door' she struggled off the bed dressed in an oversized t-shirt, picking up a metal bat from the side of her cupboard she walked over to the door and quietly unlocked it.
A dark haired girl about the same age as her stood at the other side of the door with a wide grin upon her face.
“Catty?” Annette tightened her grip on the metal bat ready to smash the hell out of the little b***h, what the hell was she doing here at this time and how did she even find the place.
“Aww… you remember me even when we only met once. I’m flattered” she grinned inviting herself in. Annette stared at her in disbelief and rubbed her eyes to get the sleep out. When the girl said weekend, she wasn’t expecting the very next day
“Nice bat” Catty said staring at the bat before moving over to a couch “Aww and you’re a fan” she said staring at the file that laid on the table, Annette grabbed it from her hand and sighed.
“What the hell do you want?”
“Your help” Catty stated looking more serious now
“I know that but honestly I don’t get why you got yourself in this in the first place and don’t give me that wanting to have fun nonsense” Catty grinned and walked over to Annette “Okay you got me I have my own reasons for looking into them but I still need your help”
“With what exactly?” Annette leaned against the wall still holding on to the metal bat.
“Like I said those bastard want me dead, I had to flee from Brenvic and I just recently lost someone important and I need your help finding him” she stated, Annette crossed her hands over a chest feeling really annoyed
“And why would I help you with that?”
“Because the guy in question knows more of the humanoid clan than anyone in this world, plus he knows a lot about the Vladimir” Annette was shocked by this statement, all through the time she’d being investigating the strange beast and the rouge clan she did her very best to keep her identity a secret and no one ever knew the real reason she asked about them.
“I did a little digging myself” Catty smirked pointing at the file Annette had dropped on the other couch.
“Alright ... So?”
“Here” she placed her hand in a pocket and brought out a picture of a good looking young man and handed it over to Annette.
Annette stared at the picture, the man in the picture looked really familiar but she couldn’t place where she’d seen him. “You want me to play hide and seek with this guy?” she stated coldly and tossed the picture back to Catty. “If you want to find the guy then report it to the cops… this has nothing to do with me”
“He was abducted by humanoids, you of all people should know the cops won’t take me seriously and I’m kind of a psychotic patient, I think you know that already” she moved back to the couch and sighed.
“I get that but honestly, why did you pick me”
“Cause we’re both looking for the same group and with your background I’d feel more safer with you”
“Well I don’t feel safe with you, they want you dead so you probably did something to piss them off” Catty sighed at her statement.
“Maybe I did but I really need to save him… it’s my fault that he got captured so I can’t just leave him like that” she could tell she wasn’t getting through to Annette, she needed to tell her everything to get her trust… taking in a deep breath she lowered her head “ Look, Zephyr saved my life when I was 17 and since then I've been working with him… he saved me from someone who walked closely with the humanoid, I have something they want and it’s not like I can return it back” Annette walked over to her and sat on the couch opposite her.
“What did you take?”
“I have it doesn’t mean I took it… I was born with it, they are scared of me so they want me dead” she raised her head and stared at Annette with desperation in her eyes.
“Don’t tell me they are the one who killed your parents” Annette was starting to build interest in Catty
“No I killed them, my powers fascinated me so I wanted to see what it could do” the color drained from Annette face as she heard those words.
“Well thanks for your honesty but seriously I don’t know much about the humanoid clan, they’ve being divided for a while now so who you’re after could be quite different from who I’m after”
“He’s their alpha… Zephyr is their alpha” Catty blurted and Annette snickered
“Right the humanoid kidnapped their alpha… real creative Catty” she stood up from the couch and headed to a cupboard behind the counter.
“I know it’s crazy but something big is going on down there… you got to believe me” Catty pleaded, Annette on the other hand paid no attention to her… she pulled a pack cigarette from the cupboard and placed one stick in her mouth and lighted it, she pulled it slowly from between her lip and blew the smoke across the room. She was finding it hard to figure out what Catty was really after, on one hand she didn’t seem to be lying but on the other it still felt like she was hiding something.
She sighed staring at the little flame that struggled to stay alive at the end of her cigarette and back at Catty “What’s your plan?”
“I don’t have one yet, that’s why I came to you”
“Don’t have one” Annette muttered placing the cigarette back between her lips “Then I can’t help” she stated coldly. To her Catty was just being unserious and whatever was going on with the girl didn’t really mean anything to her.
“Seriously?” Catty stood up from the couch and walked over to her.
“Seriously” Annette replied blowing a cloud of smoke against Catty's face and she coughed
“Fine but honestly you’d be the one contacting me” she grinned staring intensely into Annette’s cold eyes
“Okay bye” Annette stated pointing towards the door, Catty stared at Annette and then at the door.
“I’ll be in touch” she grinned
“Wait! What?” Annette blurted watching the young girl skip out of the apartment, she sighed taking a deep breath. Walking over to the zinc she placed her cigarette on the ashtray next to it, her eyes met her little room mate and she smirked
“She was a weird one right?”
