Chapter 9: Darling

Michael woke up earlier than Lucas, he was confused as to why they were sleeping beside each other but he didn’t dwell on the matter for long.

He took this as a chance to tease his friend and so he laid on his side and used his hands to prop his head up. He stared at his friend until he saw Lucas stir in his sleep.

Lucas stirred when he felt someone staring at him. Somehow he felt a sense of déjà vu with the current situation.

Albeit he was still sleepy, he forced his eyes to open and the first thing to come into his view was Michael’s mischievous face.

“Good morning darling~” Michael greeted in an overly sweet voice he was grinning ear to ear and basked at the sight of Lucas’ face that contorted into discomfort.

Hearing Michael says those words with that annoying voice raised goosebumps on Lucas’s body.

He pushed Michael’s face away with his hands and stood up in a stiff manner. Michael wanted to stop at this moment but when the image of Lucas’s flustered and uncomfortable face popped up in his head, made him forget about stopping.

“What’s the matter darling~?” Michael continued to tease him. He then rolled off the bed and slowly walked towards Lucas.

“Michael I swear if you don’t shut up, I’ll-“

CHU!

Lucas’s face went blank.

He robotically turned his head towards Michael’s direction. Their faces were only a few inches apart.

Unexpectedly, a smirk formed on Lucas’s face. Michael did not expect this to be Lucas’s response.

A shock went through Michael’s body when Lucas moved closer to him. Another wave of shock hit him again when he felt Lucas’ hands on his shoulder.

Michael did not know how to react, he had never been in a situation where Lucas retaliated like this! He became flustered because he hasn’t expected this to happen at all.

‘WTF?! Why’s he acting like this?’ Michael cried in his heart.

He made a move to push Lucas away but then he felt his vision spin. Michael was confused about the whole situation.

He felt pain shot up all over his back that caused him to snap out of his daze. It took him a moment to realize what had happened.

‘This f***** really threw him over his shoulder! Ha!’

“How’s the floor… Darling?” Lucas then went on to tease Michael who was pitifully sprawled on the floor. He intentionally paused to anger him.

“Tsk, you act like you haven’t been kissed before.” Michael tried to sit up but he grimaced in pain.

When Lucas saw this, guilt spread through his features. He awkwardly stepped forward and stretched his hands towards Michael, signaling him to take it.

Unbeknownst to Lucas, Michael was actually planning to do something.

‘D*mn! Am I really that good at acting? Even Lucas got fooled!’ He was laughing evilly inside his mind.

Michael reached out and held onto Lucas’s outstretched hands then forcefully pulled his friend towards him. Lucas toppled and landed on Michael’s body.

‘This piece of sh**’ Lucas cursed Michael and himself for getting swayed like that.

Looking at Lucas’s gloomy face, Michael couldn’t help but burst into uncontrollable fits of laughter. He could imagine what was going on inside Lucas’s mind right now.

‘This fellow must be cursing me. Hahaha!’

In this world, coincidences are bound to happen.

It was still early in the morning and Mrs. Davis intended to go downstairs to prepare breakfast for the three of them.

She was passing by Lucas’ room where the two friends slept in when she heard a sound like something heavy fell on the floor. She wanted to see what it was but she brushed it off instead.

‘I must be hearing things.’

Mrs. Davis took a step forward when she heard Michael’s loud laughter. She stopped and stepped back to stand in front of Lucas’s door. She tried to stop herself as she didn’t want to disturb the two but extreme curiosity got her to turn the doorknob and open the door.

Back inside the room. The two friends were oblivious to the fact that someone was about to enter.

Lucas was currently on the move to get off Michael when they heard the door open. A soft gasp was heard and both of them instinctively turned their heads towards the doorway where they saw an astonished Mrs. Davis.

Lucas then hurriedly stood upbringing Michael up with him. They knew Mrs. Davis had misunderstood the situation she had walked in. Lucas tried to explain to her but was cut off when his mother spoke.

“Oh… I didn’t mean to disturb you two hehe.” She looked at them with shining eyes.

Mrs. Davis honestly didn’t mind if the two ever ended up together. ‘As long as my Lucas is happy.’

“Ma, it’s not what you’re thinking.” What Lucas said made his mom gaze at them with eyes that clearly state she doesn’t believe him.

She wanted to say, ‘You don’t have to hide your relationship, I fully support the two of you.’ Though she was still a little worried about what would happen if the two would finally meet their mates.

Mrs. Davis was about to open her mouth to say those words but this time Michael was the one who explained the situation.

“Don’t worry Mrs. Davis we were practicing close combat skills when you walked in.”

When Michael explained the situation, she finally dropped the thoughts about the two being a couple though she couldn’t help but feel relieved and disappointed at the same time.
