It was finally weekend and Lucas was thinking about what he would do for the two whole days without classes.
He was currently sprawled on his bed staring blankly at his white-colored ceiling. By his appearance, one could guess he had just woken up from his sleep. His hair looked like a bird's nest, his eyes were a little puffy from sleep and he was shirtless.
The golden rays of the morning sun peeped through Lucas’s window covering his entire body in golden light.
‘This feels good.’
He enjoyed five minutes more of laying down and just basking in the sun's rays.
Have you ever experienced having those days where you would feel a strong urge to do something you wanted to do for a long time? Whether it would be writing a story, composing a song, trying a new recipe, punching someone in the face, or just go out and explore.
Lucas was experiencing that as of this moment and as if he was struck by a sudden thought. His eyes lit up and a small smile formed on his face.
“Let’s try skating down a hill!” He said to no one in particular.
‘Is that even a good idea?’ His wolf asked him in a cranky voice.
‘Why? Are you scared?’ He taunted his wolf.
‘No. It’s just that I don’t want us to get hurt.’ Reasoned Lucas’ wolf.
‘But we’re werewolves! It will heal up in no time.’
Lucas could visualize his wolf rolling his eyes at him, ‘I know that i***t. What I’m trying to say is I don’t like us to feel pain, okay?’
‘The pain would be worth it, we get to try something new again!’ Lucas was as stubborn as his mom and Mrs. Dorothy.
‘Oh wow this is new, is this another side of you? A masochist?’
Hearing his wolf say those words made Lucas’s face twitch.
‘What the heck are you thinking now? This is for fun besides we don’t have anything to do today.’ After what felt like a decade, Lucas was finally able to persuade his wolf to agree. If ever his wolf didn’t agree both of them would have fought for control over the body and it would lead them to somewhat like disconnecting from each other.
Lucas did not waste any more time and he pushed himself to stand up and change his clothes. He grabbed his board beside his door then headed downstairs.
“Ma! I’ll be going out with Michael to the lake.” When he heard his mother’s confirmation, he then proceeded to skate down the neighborhood towards Michael’s house.
He had almost forgotten to tell his mom about him going out but his mom’s worried and distressed face from before surfaced in his mind.
‘Don’t worry mom, I’ll be careful.’ Lucas whispered to himself.
His wolf only scoffed ‘Yeah right.’
‘Hey, what got you in a bad mood today?’ He finally asked his wolf. Normally, his wolf would be less cranky and sassy not like how he was today.
Lucas heard his wolf sigh, ‘I don’t know… I just feel anxious for some reason.’
They continued to have a conversation throughout their journey to Michael’s house. Time passed by and they already arrived at his friend’s doorsteps.
Lucas rang the doorbell but no one came to answer it. It wouldn’t be possible for them to not be home because he heard noises coming from inside.
He rang the bell for the second time but still no one. On the third ring, the door suddenly opened surprising him.
“WHAT?!” Lucas was momentarily shocked by the sound. He knew someone was on the way to open the door but he never expected that he would be yelled at.
Standing in the doorway was a girl.
‘Flour?’
The girl’s furious expression from before was replaced by a stupefied one. Suddenly, her face turned red the moment she realized who it was. ‘No, no, no, no, it’s Lucas! Ahhhh!’ She covered her face and whipped around to run upstairs.
“Uhhh… Well, okay?” Lucas wasn’t at all questioning why Emily was covered in flour because he already had an idea who the culprit might be. But rather he was confused as to why the girl ran away from him. ‘Am I scary?’ These words made his wolf mentally roll his eyes.
‘This young man’s too dense when it comes to this stuff.’ Of course, Lucas did not hear what his wolf had said about him.
Lucas decided to come in since the door was left open. He took off his shoes and went inside. On his way to the couch, he came across a cackling Michael that came out from the kitchen.
There were traces of flour that can be seen on his face and clothes.
He managed to stop his laughter and went behind the couch where Lucas was seated. “Lucas, what’re you here for?”
Lucas was leisurely sitting on the couch with his legs crossed and arms slung over the backrest, the image made him look very handsome. He looked at Michael before answering.
“Get dressed we’re going out.” Lucas didn’t know his words can get misinterpreted like that incident with Amy.
“Wait Lucas, are you asking me out right now?” Michael faked gasped and even fluttered his eyes while one of his hands was covering his lips.
Lucas looked at him blankly but that blank stare scared Michael… almost. ‘I’m not scared, no not at all! Ha!’ He couldn’t bring himself to admit he was scared.
After a moment of silence, he finally gave up.
“Okay, okay I’ll get dressed.” After saying that. Michael then dashed upstairs towards his room.
