Almost ten minutes had passed by and Michael hasn’t returned from his shower.
Meanwhile, Lucas was still sitting on the couch with his eyes closed.
After some time Lucas heard footsteps coming down from upstairs. Lucas could tell who it was by their scent.
Each person gives off a different and unique scent that helps werewolves indicate either it is a friend or a foe. Though in some cases, some are gifted to mask their scent.
The steps paused for a moment then continued, the person walked in his direction. Lucas felt the couch sink as the person sat next to him.
At the same time, Emily’s face was turning red. She had just gotten off the shower to get rid of the flour that covered her face.
She couldn’t help but feel embarrassed whenever she would think of the incident that happened earlier.
‘It’s because of that i***t brother!’ Emily blamed her brother for putting her in that embarrassing situation. She hadn’t expected the person ringing the bell would turn out to be Lucas.
‘My image is ruined, ahh! I even raised my voice at him, huhuhu.’
“Why do you keep staring at me?” Emily was too engrossed in her thoughts that she hadn’t noticed she was staring at Lucas for too long.
From the moment Lucas felt her sit next to him, he could feel an intense gaze that was burning a hole through his face.
‘Why are they always staring at me? These two siblings are weird.’ Lucas thought. His wolf, on the other hand, could sense that the little sister of Michael had taken a liking to them but he chose not to say anything to Lucas as he wanted to see the events unfold before him.
Lucas never really experienced being in a relationship before, it wasn’t because nobody like him but because they were a bunch of cowards. Though there were a handful of people that were brave enough to confess to him and some had even asked him to be in a relationship with them but Lucas did not budge.
He wasn’t interested to be in a relationship and he wasn’t planning to be with someone in the future.
“I- I wasn’t… I’m s-sorry.” Came Emily’s stammering reply. She hadn’t noticed that she was staring too much and the sudden question from Lucas had surprised her. Her face blushed red even more with this.
“Hmm” was the only sound that came from Lucas.
Emily was thinking about what topic’s she could bring up to Lucas when hurried footsteps rushed down the stairs. Emily then noticed Lucas opening his eyes and got up not long after.
“Come on let’s go!” Michael acted like he hasn’t taken up almost fifteen minutes ‘changing his clothes.’
The two friends grabbed their boards and went out the door together. They bid Emily goodbye and took off.
Emily couldn’t help but feel disappointed as she had lost the chance to get closer to Lucas. She had liked Lucas for 1 year now since the first time they met through Michael but she couldn’t bring herself to tell him.
Maybe because she was a coward who was afraid of being rejected but it wasn’t like this before.
There was once a time she had mustered up enough courage to face him and she had prepared everything. She practiced everything she wanted to say and even dressed herself up.
After several attempts, she had finally found the perfect chance. Lucas was alone sitting on the park bench.
Emily calmed her beating heart and walked towards him but fate wasn’t having it. Someone had grabbed her by her collar and dragged her away from there.
The person took her far away from the place which made her angry. She whipped around angrily and found out it was her brother.
“What do you think you’re doing?!” That was the first time she had ever yelled at her brother but Michael wasn’t affected at all, he didn’t even flinch when she slapped his hands that were holding her collar.
“Don’t do it, you’ll just get hurt,” Michael said calmly. Emily was taken aback by his tone of voice, it was like a side of him she never knew about. Michael was always energetic and friendly but this wasn’t the case today.
“But I-“she wanted to refute but the look Michael was giving her made her shut up.
“Listen to what I say, Emily, he wouldn’t acknowledge it. I just don’t want to see you disappointed and hurt Emily.” Michael paused and looked towards the direction where Lucas was before continuing,
“Lucas… Lucas still has things to settle by himself. Besides what if you will find your mates? Wouldn’t that get complicated?” Michael had a point but regarding the issue about Lucas he mentioned about, she had no idea.
Emily was still processing what Michael has said to her. ‘I guess I should give up…”
...
She was trying her best to forget and remain as friends, several months had passed, and her feelings for Lucas although still there it was at least starting to diminish. She couldn’t stop herself from blushing and getting nervous though.
Emily stood in the doorway for a couple more minutes looking at nothing in particular.
She heaved a deep sigh and hoped that the feelings she has for Lucas would finally diminish and she would be able to move on. She closed the door with the thought of closing her feelings for Lucas and returned back to her room.
