When Lucas arrived he greeted his mother, she immediately instructed him to change his clothes.
“Come down after you are done, we’ll have dinner together. I made your favorite Tinola.” After speaking his mother then went to the kitchen to prepare the dinner table.
His dad hasn’t returned yet because of the matters concerning the reports about rogue sightings close to their pack territory.
Lucas opened his room door and was greeted by the messy state it was in. He especially detested the sight of the unfinished essay he left on his desk that was due the day after tomorrow.
His room wasn’t big but it wasn’t cramped either, it had enough space to put in a decent-sized bed, a wardrobe, and a desk. It still has space to move around in even with all the furniture. The wall had no picture frames on it instead it was bare.
After washing and changing his clothes he went downstairs to join his mom for dinner.
He spent more time with his mom until he remembered about the essay he had to finish. He bid her good night and went back to his room.
Lucas sat on his desk and began writing the essay. He scribbled on the paper random thoughts that would pop up in his head. At some point he didn’t know what he was writing anymore so he finished it, cleaned up his desk, and jumped on his bed.
He tried to sleep but for some reason, he couldn’t. His mind would wander on the incident that he happened to witness at school. Two soul mates finally meeting each other.
Mates…
‘I want to meet our mate.’ His wolf said.
‘Well I don’t.’ Lucas replied to which made his wolf snarl at him but not long after the wolf went silent.
Lucas sighed when he felt a wave of sadness engulf him but it quickly went away like it never occurred what he felt just now was his wolf's emotions.
'They could be different.' his wolf said in a quiet voice.
'We couldn't risk getting hurt.'
His wolf wanted to refute him but Lucas cut him off. 'Let's go for a run, how 'bout that?'
'Oh finally, we haven't run in our other form for a long time now.'
Lucas stood up from his bed, 'We went for a run last week.' and his wolf replied 'But that was a week ago. That's a pretty long time.
He tiptoed downstairs and silently opened the backyard door.
He leisurely stalked behind a nearby tree and started to take off his clothes. Lucas neatly folded it and placed it somewhere clean. He stretched and slowly he transformed into his wolf.
Lucas's wolf had beautiful midnight black fur with a white streak on his chest. His eyes were the color of amber and because of the forest having lack of light, his eyes seemed as if it was glowing.
An Alpha wolf would typically grow between seven to nine feet tall, a beta would be around seven to eight feet tall and an omega would be between five to seven feet tall. Their heights may depend on their inherited genes or their lifestyle.
Lucas being a son of a beta and omega, had a little advantage. His wolf grew to six feet tall which was already considered big for an omega.
His wolf couldn't wait and started to sprint, they dodge trees and jumped to avoid rocks and logs.
Lucas then remembered about the rogue sightings his mom mentioned before.
'Don't go too far, just circle around this area.' Lucas wasn't sure if his wolf had heard his warning so he made precautions and took control. His wolf willingly gave it to him without much resistance.
Lucas slowed down to a jog. He raised his head slightly above the ground and sniffed the air for any foreign scent but found nothing.
'That's weird.' He said to himself.
During the time he was talking to his wolf he had felt that they were being stared at but when he was checking for any scent he couldn't grasp any.
'Maybe I just need some sleep.'
He didn't linger for long or even tried to investigate further and quickly sprinted back to their house.
...
Not far away from where Lucas stood before was a hill. On that hill, the moonlight shone bright and there sat a snow-white wolf. One particular trait about this wolf was that his eyes were that of a striking blue.
Its eyes were intensely following the dark wolf sprinting out of the forest. The wolf then stood on its four when the figure disappeared from his sight.
A dangerous glint lit up his eyes as he made a turn and walked backed to their pack territory.
...
Lucas arrived at the tree where he left his clothes, he quickly shifted back into his human form and put on his clothes. It was almost midnight when he arrived and all he wanted to do now was sleep.
He opened the back door and what came into view scared the living hell out of him.
"AH!"
"Where have you been?" For a minute, he did not recognize his own mother because of the damned mask she had put on her face.
"Ma! You scared me." Lucas said holding his chest where he could feel the loud thuds his heart was making. He immediately regretted saying that as his mom unfolded her arms and raised them to grab his ears.
"What do you mean? Do I look that scary to you? Huh?!" asked Lucas's mom as she dragged him by his ear.
Lucas begged her to let go and spouted compliments to appease his fuming mother.
Mrs. Davis made Lucas sit on the couch and she sat on a chair across from his son. She interrogated his son about where he went.
"I just went out for a run because I couldn't sleep." He rubbed his now red ears while explaining to his mom.
