What the hell did he just say? She must be hearing wrongly because Colton just said he was there for her.
She shook her head as if to get rid of the hope that warmed her insides at the thought. She averted her line of sight from him quickly.
When she lifted her head again, he was looking directly at her. She gasped in shock before suddenly finding interest on the floor, dropping her head.
Though she wasn’t directly looking at him, she could see him in her peripheral vision, and he was walking towards her.
Why was he walking towards her?
“Oh God!” She mumbled.
“Grace,” he called. She looked up into his pair of mesmerizing eyes.
“Yes,” she answered skeptically.
“Let’s go,” he said and held out a hand for her to take.
“Me?” She asked Colton, pointing to herself.
“Yes, you.”
“Why?” She wanted to know why he was bailing her.
“Well, do you want to stay in here for two weeks?” Colton asked with a raised brow.
That had Grace standing very quickly. At first, she hesitated to place her hand in his, but then she vaguely remembered the said hands all over her body and joined his with hers.
His hand had the same effect it had the night before; electrifying.
She was escorted to the entrance of the police station. The Allen family was well known, so it wasn’t weird that all the police officers were looking at their joined hands.
Grace shrugged. They could stare for all she cared. She was just happy that she was getting out.
Outside the police station…
As soon as the door bust open, a swarm of paparazzi rushed towards them. One reporter was coming directly for Grace, and she was preparing for the impact when a large body suddenly shielded her.
Colton.
The reporters were pushed aside by what looked to be security. Who was this man that he needed security?
She was gently pushed in the back of an Escalade and the door was shut. Colton stayed outside to address the reporters.
“Anyone that harasses Grace from this day forward will be punished,” he told them in a stern manner.
“Mr. Miller, who is Grace Allen to you?” One reporter asked.
“She’s mine,” he simply answered.
No more questions were answered as he got in the backseat, commanding his driver to move.
“Where are we going?” Grace asked when she noticed that the driver was going in the opposite direction of her house.
“Where do you think?” Colton asked, with a raised brow.
Her eyes widened up in realization.
“Hell no! I’m not going home with you,” she said with folded arms.
They went down a paved path that seemed to last for days. Palm trees were lined on both sides. Grace could already tell that the house would be magnificent.
They drove for a few minutes before they arrived at a large metal gate.
The automatic gate opened and the car drove in. Grace look out the widow while they drove around the large fountain in front of his house. No, scratch that. His mansion. She side-eyed him when he wasn’t looking.
‘Who was this man?’
She hesitantly followed him out of the vehicle and into the house.
“Wow! This is magnificent,” Grace said.
It was evening and the sun was setting, giving the house an otherworldly glow.
“I’m glad you like it. Your room will be upstairs, right across from mine. Come,” Colton said, walking away.
“Wait, what?”
“Are you hard of hearing?” Colton asked. Grace could see that his patience was wearing thin.
“I didn’t agree to live here,” Grace said.
“Why did you come here then?” Colton asked.
“Because I was grateful that you bailed me and I just wanted to show gratitude. I don’t want to live with you,” she told him.
“Like you have a choice,” Colton mumbled under his breath.
“I have a choice. I’m going back home. I’m sure my father was just upset and that he’ll come to his senses and take me back inside the house. And the company.” She added the last part quickly.
“You can tell that to yourself as much as you want, but I know that you’ll be back to beg me,” Colton said with conviction.
“That is the last thing I would do,” With that, Grace opened the doors and let herself out.
Beg? Grace decided that she would never beg Colton if it came to it. She hoped it didn’t come to it.
With no idea of how to get a ride, Grace started walking. In no time time, she should be at the Allen house.
After walking for some time, Grace sat on the sidewalk out of tiredness.
She felt like a homeless person. She realized how true her statement would be if her father didn’t accept her back into his house.
If he accepted her and treated her like sh*t, it would still be better than to depend on Colton for anything, right?
When she could see the house, Grace breathed a sigh of relief.
Grace walked up to her father’s house and knocked on the front door. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw who opened it.
“Andrew,” Grace whispered.
“What are you doing here?” Andrew asked.
“What? I live here,” Grace replied.
“According to your father and sister, not anymore,” Andrew commented. He spoke with such hostility.
She knew that he was upset because she’d cheated on him, but it wasn’t her fault. She had been drugged and didn’t even know what she was doing. Besides, she thought it was him.
“Andrew, why are you behaving this way? What happened to me wasn’t my fault.” Grace said dejectedly.
“I don’t care. I wanted a virgin, you’re not one anymore and our relationship is over.” Andrew said coldly.
Where had she gotten that perception from that he was a good man?
Josephine came and stood behind Andrew. She wrapped her arms around him, hugging him from behind. Andrew didn’t push away her hands, but embraced her instead.
“What’s going on?” Grace asked, genuinely confused.
“We’re engaged,” Andrew opened his mouth to speak, but Josephine had beaten him to it.
“Really?” Grace scoffed in disbelief. “Josephine, you said the Evans family wanted Andrew to marry a virgin. Do you think that with all of the men you’ve been with, you’re the right fit?”
Josephine turned red in the face immediately.
“You b*tch!” Josie lunged at Grace, but Andrew held her back.
Henry Allen rushed out to see what the commotion was about.
“What the hell is going on here?” Henry asked.
“It’s Grace. She’s here making fun of me,” Josephine quickly answered.
“Why are you here, Grace? Henry asked.
“I want to come home.”
“Who bailed you from the police station?” Henry asked angrily instead of replying to her statement.
“I…” Her mouth opened and closed, speechless.
“Who bailed you?” Henry thundered.
“Colton,” Grace replied in her smallest voice.
“Who is Colton?” It was Andrew who asked the question this time.
“He’s… He’s…”
“Dad, Colton is the guy she slept with last night,” Josephine said a little loudly.
“Is this true?” He asked her.
“Yes.” There was no use denying the truth.
Suddenly, Grace’s head whipped sideways from a slap delivered by Andrew. She stared at him flabbergasted, holding her cheek.
