Chapter 4: Doomed Mates

I went after my son wanting to know what that was all about, I linked Emile, "Keep going, I will explain later," he continued as I followed Rowe's scent back to his room. I didn't knock, I opened the door and he was pacing in anger, I looked at him closing the door, and said, "Tell me what is wrong, Rowe?" Rowe looked at me and I saw he was torn, I said, "Spit it out, you never hide anything from me," He said, "You are mated to my mother's rapist daughter," I closed my eyes forgetting all about that little detail. She was Roman's daughter and I don't think Polly would like that either but I was not giving up on my mate so I walked up to Rowe and said, "Get to know her when the time is right, the Moon Goddess paired us for a reason, I think this is meant to be." Rowe said, "Okay, but you do know that he has a strict rule about the mixing of species," I smiled saying, "Only when it benefits him but he will have no choice since it's his daughter."
Rowe said, "We will see, he is a son-of-a-b***h and we shouldn't trust his family," I knew he was right, I saw that he still had the beautiful Elf in his bed asleep. So I told him, "You are not needed, blow some steam off," throwing a condom at him, he growled as I ran through the door hearing him call me an asshole as I reached the elevator. I headed back down to the Summit and picked up that beautiful scent again, the Summit closed out for the morning for lunch and I turned to see Alpha Seth blocking her. I turned to go to the buffet before I caused a scene, I had picked up water from the bar and went to my seat for lunch when I smelled this amazing scent behind me. I turned around with a smile and saw that she was smiling from ear to ear, she said, "Hi, I am Sophia Barnaby," holding her hand out for a shake and I shook it feeling the tingles.
She was being sweet not mentioning that she was Princess Sophia, so I introduced myself as Barron Fitzgerald and she stopped smiling. I offered her a seat and she sat with me, I said, "So, are you going to reject me or accept me?" She said, "Are you kidding? I have been waiting for my mate, like forever, but my dad won't allow it because I remember your name, you are the Bear King and he doesn't like you." I said, "The feeling is mutual, we have a bad history," we had lunch talking about everything except why her father and I hated each other. Later, we sat together back at the remaining summit and decided to go out on a date and I couldn't wait, I was excited to get to know her and so far, she was nothing like her father. I walked her back to her room and she invited me in for a coffee, I didn't want to because I had a nice dinner planned but I accepted.
We talked some more and then we were on her bed kissing, she had a beautiful, well-toned body, and as I kissed her all over, she let out these soft moans. All I could think about was, that she was my mate and so perfect, I couldn't wait for my family to meet her, I had my head buried between her legs as I licked, sucked, and tasted everything she had to offer. Sophie avoided me the whole time after our date and I was furious, she was my betrothed and she was going to be at my side one way or the other. Her father promised me his firstborn daughter as p*****t for helping him overthrow Aidan and it was time to finally collect. He had been putting it off for years because I wanted her when she was of age but he refused and said, "Lily wouldn't approve," damn, I had to wait but now since our old treaty is expiring. I used her as the bargaining chip to get him to comply and give me what was rightfully mine. I saw Sophie bring her carry-on bag and sent my man to help her and escort her to the limo, she was spending two days in my pack house so I could show her around my territory as her father promised. We were in the back of my limo when she was on the phone and I said, "I see you are a bit distracted but we should be getting to know each other."
She said, "Sorry, I was in the middle of something but there is not much to know, why haven't you found your mate yet?" I looked at her and asked, "Why would I need a mate when my chosen mate is a beauty and will give me strong pups?" She said, "I believe in mates so I am not happy about this arrangement that you and my father made, can you work your business out without ruining someone's life?" I must admit that stung a little and I told her, "I am not a bad man, you will be well-taken care of and my pups will lack for nothing," she looked out the window ending the conversation and for some reason, that annoyed me, I realized this one was feisty, and I will enjoy breaking her in. We were on my jet heading to my packland, she was asleep and I was looking at her breast, they looked perfect and I couldn't wait to suck them. I looked out the window and knew getting her trust would be hard, but with her being a Princess, once mated, I would be a Prince and have access to all the riches of the Kingdom, I would live in luxury.
I messaged my Beta to make sure her room was clean and everyone treated her with respect, I had already spoken to my girlfriend and she will know her place, this is business nothing more. However, Sophia will be keeping up appearances with her family and that is all, she must never know of my relationship with my girlfriend and my pack knows better than to say anything. We reached my pack house after a long drive and Sophia was looking out the window seeing the young pups running around. Sophie was introduced to my Beta, Kevin, and my Gamma, Spencer, Amy, my girlfriend, was standing in the doorway with a fake smile and came over introducing herself as my secretary. She curtsies for Sophia and Sophia says, "No need, just treat me as any other person, I only use formal titles when it is important and since my dad sent me here to get to know your Alpha, I guess we can agree to be friends," we all headed inside.
I had Spencer escort Sophie to her room and her guards to their quarters, I looked at Kevin and he said, "Everything is good, it's Amy you should worry about because she hates this idea." Amy was my Beta's sister but this was for the greater good of the pack, so, they would fall in line. Later, Sophia and I went for a walk around the area, showing her the pack lands and she was impressed at how good everything was kept, we drove down to the town where my office was and the little market intrigued her. We had a private lunch in my office and I wanted to kiss her but she said, "No, I can't, it's too soon," I said, "Of course," before we headed back to the pack house. The days fly by so quickly but something tells me she has something distracting her and I told Kevin, "Find out what has her mind so caught up, maybe, we can use it against her to get her mate me quickly."

Sophia
I was back home and my mother was in my room asking me about how the Summit went, I filled her in on the important stuff but I was skeptical about whether to tell her I found my mate. I needed to wait for the right time before I made a move, I knew my father wouldn't approve the mating, so I was willing to leave here and be with my mate even if he disowned me. My father called me into his chambers and said, "Alpha Seth was impressed with the meetings and wanted to move up the wedding." I said with hurt in my voice, "No, I need time, he waited years for me, a few more months can't kill him," my father smiled. He said, "Very well, we would make it a big affair," I said, "No, private if I am going to let a man I don't love f**k me for the rest of my life, I rather not celebrate it." My father was shocked and said, "You are just like your mother," before I walked out, I messaged Barron, I needed to see him because being away from him was driving me crazy and this is how our sneaking around started.
