Davina’s POV
“Aiden I think I should get going”
“Hell no, you’re not going anywhere”
“Aiden can’t you see that I’m obviously not wanted here?”
“Baby girl, calm down”
“Trust me I’m as calm as I can be”
“Then let’s go in”
“I honestly saw this coming, I knew Alicia won’t be comfortable with the idea”
“Not like her opinion matters”
“Yes it does Aiden, she’s your sister and did you see the look on your mom’s face before she walked away?”
“What look?”
“She looked disgusted and irritated by the thought of her son being with a maid or the thought of dining with a maid”
“Davina you’re overreacting”
“No, I’m not”
“Davina please go in with me”
“No Aiden, I don’t want to, I’m leaving, have fun” I said and tried to walk away but Aiden won’t let me. “If you must leave then I’ll go with you” “You don’t have to”
“I brought you here and there’s no way I’d let you go home alone”
“The diver can take me home and come back for you”
“You don’t have a choice, I’m either taking you home or you’re staying for the dinner”
“Aiden!!!” Nick called out
“Hey my man, how are you doing?” Aiden asked going in for a hug.
“I’m good bro, what have you been up to?”
“Nothing much, I’ve just been here and there”
“Now who’s this pretty lady next to you?” He asked turning you look at me.
“Nick meet my girlfriend Davina, Davina meet my elder brother Nick”
“Nice to meet you Davina” Nick said stretching his hand out for a handshake
“The pleasure is mine, I’ve heard so much about about you”
“Really? I didn’t know Aiden talked about other people”
“Well he sings your praises all the time”
“Now, you’re over exaggerating” Aiden said
“Why are you guys out here, come on in, dinner is almost ready”
“That won’t be necessary”
“Why not?” Nick asked looking confused “Aiden was just seeing me off, it was nice meeting you”
“Aiden what’s going on?” his mum asked
“Don’t tell me it’s because of an ordinary maid that you’re not saying for dinner?” she added
“Mum don’t talk to her like that” Aiden tried defending me
“Why do you keep falling for low lives, first was Natalie now this” she said still looking at me with so much disgust.
“This should be last time you’d ever insult my guest and never you speak ill of Natalie” he said angrily as he led me out of the house
“Mum, don’t you think you were too harsh on there poor girl?” I heard Nick tell his mum but I didn’t get to hear her reply and thank God I didn’t hear it.
As we got into the car I went to sit at the far end of the car not wanting to converse with Aiden, I wanted to just stare into the dark all night long, cause probably that’d make me feel less of a piece of trash.
“Hey baby girl” I heard Aiden call out to me but I didn’t want to look at me cause I didn’t want him to see me crying
“Are you crying?” He asked while coming closer to me
“No I’m not, I just want to be alone”
“Come on girl, talk to me, I don’t like this silent treatment”
“I’ll talk to you when I’m mentally and emotionally stable”
“Davina you’re starting to get my worried”
“You don’t need to be, just let me be” I said and put on my AirPod in order to make him stop talking even though there was no music I kept hearing him call my name but gives up after a while.
We drove in silence for a while then got back to his apartment I let him help me get off the car and walked off immediately my legs touch the ground.
“Are you still not gonna talk to me?” I heard Aiden ask but I chose to ignore him. I went straight to my room, locked my door and laid on my bed, I cried all night.
“Never in my life has someone belittled me to that extent” I said to myself still crying hard. It hurt me more because I didn’t want to be there but Aiden insisted, it was just as if I knew it’d happen “moreover it always happens in movies” I ended up crying myself to sleep.
I woke up the next morning still putting on the dress I wore to Nick’s place, I quickly got up and washed up, trying to stay positive and not let what happened the previous day ruin my day. I did my chores, made breakfast and served Aiden, promising myself that I won’t let personal issues distract me from work, I called Aiden to come eat his food which he did,
“Eat with me Davina”
“I’m good”
“I know what my mum and sis did was wrong but don’t you think you’re taking it out on the wrong person”
“Really?”
“I’m sorry for what they did and said to you, I know I shouldn’t have forced you to go with me”
“Aiden, I’ve never felt so humiliated my whole life, how can your family belittle their fellow human without remorse?”
“I’m sorry Davina, I’m really sorry”
“Just stop apologizing, your apologies won’t remedy what has already being done” I said and walked away.
Back in my room “I really wanted to forget yesterday but why did he have to bring it up again?” Sitting on my chair and staring into thin air, at this point I missed school so much, I also missed Ashley so f*****g much.
“Come to think of it, I can actually go visit Ashley” I said to myself as I quickly got dressed and left the house, I didn’t even bother checking to see if Aiden was around, I just assumed that he already left for work. On getting to my former apartment, I tried the old password, luckily Ash didn’t change it.
“Ash!!!” I yelled but didn’t get an answer, I check the whole house but didn’t see her so I decided to call her
“Hey girl” Ash said immediately she answered her phone
“Hey Ash, What’s up?”
“I’m good, you don’t sound well, hope all is well?” She asked sounding worried.
“Not entirely, where are you?”
“I went grocery shopping, what about you?”
“I’m at our house”
“Our house as in where I live or your boss’s house”
“Where we lived together”
“f**k, girl why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”
“It just happened”
“Okay, I’ll be home in a minute”
“No, you don’t have to”
“Are you leaving already?”
“No, I’ll come meet you, which grocery shop did you go to”
“I’m at the Nat’s store”
“Okay, I’ll there in five minutes”
“Okay, I’ll be waiting” I left the house to where she was buying grocery.
When I got there Ashley was waiting for me at the entrance.
“Girl!!!!” Ash screamed immediately she saw.
“Ash I’ve missed you so much” I said going in for a hug
“please allow me stay this way for while” I said still holding her tight
“Sure, girl” she said patting my back.
“I really needed this hug” I said as I let go trying so hard to stop the tears from rolling down my eyes.
“Why don’t you move back with me, we’re already done with school”
“Do you think it’s a good idea?”
“Yes, moreover Aiden will soon be moving to the countryside and you know you can’t go with him”
“I know, I just wanted to hang around before he moves”
“Can’t you see that he’s hurting you?”
“He didn’t do anything to me” I said defending Aiden “If he didn’t then why are you crying?”
“Can we find somewhere quiet to sit, my legs are weak”
“Sure” Ash said as she lead me to the coffee shop next to the grocery store.
As soon as we sat a waitress came to take our order. I ordered for Cappuccino while Ash ordered Americano.
“So tell me what happened this time” I narrated my ordeal at Aiden’s place weird for word. By the time I was done the waitress came in with our coffee
“Enjoy your coffee” She said as she placed the drinks on the table
“How much is it?”
“Six dollar ma’m”
“Oh, okay” I said as I paid her
“Thank you” she politely said
“You’re welcome” I said as she flashed me a smile and walked away.
“Ash you look like you’re about to explode” I said starting to get worried at how silent Ashley has being since I narrated my ordeal to her.
“First thing we’re going to do is go bring your f*****g belongings, to hell with him and his family” she said as she stood up and dragged me out of the coffee shop.
“Girl take it easy” I said trying to make Ashley slow down but she won’t budge, she waves at a cab, it stops, we get in and Ashley tells the driver Aiden’s address and he starts to drive.
“Ash i came to you to talk to you, to get comfort from you but you’re doing the opposite”
“I’ll only comfort you even I know that your things are out of Aiden’s place”
“But this time Aiden didn’t actually do anything wrong”
“Would you have said otherwise? I don’t f*****g care if he did something wrong or not, ask I know is that you’re leaving his house today”
“Ash you need to calm down”
“Girl trust me I’m super calm, I’m so so calm”
“But don’t you think you’re taking this too far?” I asked and she totally ignored me so I kept quiet for the rest of the drive.
We got to Aiden’s place, I paid the cab man and went in with Ash still begging her not to cause a scene when we get in and she still ignored me, not like I wasn’t expecting it. I noticed Alicia’s car parked directly at the entrance of the house and immediately my hearts starts beating so fast and slowed down
“Why are you slowing down?” Ash asked
“Alicia is here”
“Who the f**k is Alicia?”
“Aiden’s sis, the one that employed me”
“Thank goodness, I really have a lot to say and do to that dumb b***h” she said as she storms into the house.
We got into the house, Alicia and her mum was sited in the living room and I see my box of clothes on the floor with my other belongings, I immediately started to cry
“What the f**k is going on here?” Ash asked as she got close to Alicia
“I repeat who the f**k messed with my girl’s belongings?” She asked looking so scary.
“Who is this mad dog?” Aiden’s mum asked but I chose to ignore her as I continued to pack my things
“This would be the last time I’ll ask, who messed with my girl’s belongings!!!” She yelled as she threw down the flower vase next to her.
The whole room became quiet for a while and I could see the fear Alicia and her mom’s eye although they tried so hard to get it.
“You manipulative swine” Alicia said as she got close to me “So I let you into Aiden’s house and that wasn’t enough for you, you now want to make him turn his back on us. I should have known you were nothing but a gold digger” she added as she tried walking away Ashley ran towards her and gave her the beating of her life, as much as I tried to stop Ash, I really liked the fact that she hit Alicia so well. I was finally able to push Ash away from Alicia, picked up my things and dragged Ash out of the house before she could cause more damage.
