Chapter Twelve

1702 Words
Aiden’s POV I got to work today not feeling like myself, I was so restless, I had like a million things going through my head, I just couldn’t think straight. I was still trying to process my thoughts when someone badged into my office, I honestly I was ready to yell at whoever that was “Hey man” I heard Nick greet, making me calm down “Hey bro” I said taking his hands for a handshake and then going in for a hug “How are you man?” “I’m good, What brings you here? you didn’t tell me you were coming” “I was just in the neighborhood then decided to drop by and say hi” “Okay that’s cool, how’s work?” “Work is good, how’s your new girl?” “Honestly man, I don’t know, she doesn’t want to talk to me, she doesn’t even look at my face anymore” “Because of mum?” “Who else?” “You need to talk to mum about it, you should have told her earlier” “Why do I have to tell her about that?, it’s my personal life and I know very well that I’m old enough to make decisions for myself” “Aiden you are, we all are but she’s still your mother, see I’m not trying to say she’s right “Then what are you trying to say?” “All I’m trying to say is that if you met her ahead of time and explained the situation on ground with with her then maybe things wouldn’t have turned out the way they did” “Nick are you being serious right now? How do y’all sit and let mom control your entire lives” “Aiden she’s not controlling any of us, we just tell her certain things so she doesn’t feel left out” “I don’t mind if she’s left out in my life moreover it has always being like that” “Aiden!!” “What? I can count how many times I saw mom as a kid, even days that I saw, it was always as if she didn’t a f**k about, I really want her to maintain that same energy, when I need a motherly advice I know who to meet” “Aiden are you being f*****g serious?” “Yeah, I’ve never being more serious” “This same woman you speak ill about took us out of gutter, washed us, clothed us, fed us and put a roof over our head, Damn Aiden you got to be the most ungrateful being ever” “See I am so grateful and will forever be grateful for what she she did but the point is that parents should know when to stop and mom doesn’t know that because no one is telling her that she’s over stepping her boundaries” “Whatever man, I’m out of here” he said as he got up from his seat “Come on man, it hasn’t gotten to that, have a drink with me, I’ve missed you though” “You’re sick bro” he said and sat down “I know man” After a few glasses of wine Nick wanted to leave “Man, I got to go” “Okay man, thanks for dropping by, I really needed this” “Anytime bro” he said, hugged me and then left. Now alone in my office, thoughts of Davina must be feeling were just in my head, I can actually relate to how hurt she must be feeling right now cause I could remember the first time I was at Natalie’s place, her family saw me as a good for nothing rich guy who came to play with their only daughter’s heart and it was quite hurtful cause I was a hundred percent sincere about my feelings for Natalie, I just had to hang around till they accepted me and I don’t want Davina to go through the same. I picked up my phone and dialed her number but she wouldn’t pick so I packed my bags and went home. On driving into the compound I see Alicia’s car parked inside “oh no!! This can’t be good, This visit isn’t going to end well” I said as I got down from my car, on getting closer to the entrance I see Davina and her friend that I only saw her pictures online carrying Davina’s properties “Where are you going to baby girl” I asked looking so confused “Out of life” her friend snapped at me “What do you mean by out of my life” “Aiden we both knew this wasn’t going to work, so this is me stepping out first to avoid more hurt and embarrassment” Davina said in tears “Girl let’s leave this place” her friend said dragging her towards the gate “Davina please don’t do this” “I’m sorry Aiden, I really am” she said as she walked out of my house without looking back. I could feel my old wounds open up again, i sat on the floor for a few minutes still trying to process what just happened but just couldn’t, I was so angry so I stormed into my house and see my mom dressing Alicia’s wound. “There here is” Alicia said immediately she saw me “What in God’s name happened here?” “Can’t you see what your lowlife of a girlfriend and her crazy friend did to your sister?” My mom said “Davina would never do such a thing” “So you’re saying that I’m lying?” “Wouldn’t I be stating the obvious fact if I said that” I received a very hot slap from mum for that statement. “What was that for?” I asked shocked. “Just something something little to remind you who’s in charge here” “When you’re done with what ever you guys came for you, you know your way out” I said as I walked out “Aiden you’re the most ungrateful person I’ve met my whole life” My mum screamed “What?” “Yes, you heard me, how can you treat someone that all she has ever done is for you is to better your life and that of your siblings like a piece of trash?” “Heaven will bear me witness that even for once I’ve never done that and would never do it” “Then what are you doing now?” “See mum, we’re both very angry at the moment, we’ll talk when some other day” “No talk to me now” “Fine, I’ll start with Alicia, what did Davina do so wrong that you suddenly hate her?” “Are you really asking me that question?” Alicia asked “Yes I am, go on answer it” “Can’t you see that she’s here for your money? Isn’t it so obvious?” “You make me laugh, she’s here for my money, is that the best you could come up with?” “Aiden even a blind man can see that Davina is a f*****g gold digger, like it’s written all over her” “You say she’s after my money right?” “Yes” “Good, but I don’t have a problem with that, I still like her like that” “Are you being f*****g serious right now?” Alicia asked “Trust me I am” “I think you’ve lost your mind” She said looking disappointed “I heard you gave her job at your company, is that true?” My mom asked “You’re now interested in my business affairs?” “Aiden I am being serious” “Yes I did” “Fire her” “I’ll do no such thing, she’s academically qualified for the position and how can you even tell me to fire her when she hasn’t even started working?” “I don’t f*****g care, Aiden I let you mingle with Natalie because her family was a middle class family but Davina, certainly not, they’re complete low lives and I’m not letting my son get involved with anyone from there. See Aiden relationship and marriage isn’t always all about love, you should be looking for influential people, do you know how many successful spinsters would be dying to be in a relationship with you, this is your opportunity to build connection for your children “I already have all the connection my children need” “Aiden do you think if I married for love that I’d be here right now, I sacrificed love to be successful and look at me and still happily married with amazing children” “Mum, no matter what you say to me, it’s Davina I want and I’m not backing down, not for you not for anybody at all. If you don’t mind I I have things to do” I said and walked out as fast as possible to avoid more preaching from her.
