PARKER POV
“So, our allied packs have about nine special wolves?” I asked, shocked by the number.
Kai nodded “Yes, between the five packs, they know of nine. During our meeting, we invited all nine to meet with us. Four of them were from one family. They were very cooperative and helped us with a lot of information.”
Nine other wolves just in our allied packs. I never expected that. “Did we learn the abilities they possess?”
Kai nodded again. “The four from the same family all of telekinetic powers. They are able to move objects with their mind. Two of the remaining five have mind reading powers. Three chose not to discuss their abilities with us out of fear.”
Wow. Telekinesis and mind reading. That’s amazing.
Beta Wyatt spoke up “I was just as speechless. You were a shock, but now that we know of all these other special abilities, it’s no wonder they’re hunting us.”
Kai scoffed at his beta, “Really?”
He gave me an apologetic look. I just nodded, my lips forming a thin line and returning my attention to Kai. “What was the family able to tell you?”
Kai gave me the rundown on everything that he had learned. There is a book on all of the special ability's that werewolves possess. They have been documented for thousands of years. The book is in a special library located within the Blue Lake pack on the west coast of the United States.
“It was hard to see the fear in those wolves eyes when we told them what we knew. A few looked unsurprised, like they expected something like this to happen but others, they want to hide.” he said solemnly.
I pinched the bridge of my nose “While I understand them wishing to hide, that’s hardly the answer here. That just delays the inevitable.”
Kai sighed “I agree with you. I let them know that if they wished to speak with you directly, we would organize that. I think that we need to gather more information before that happens though.”
Beta Wyatt started pacing.
“What are you thinking?” Kai questioned.
“Well first, we need to see that book, but Blue Lake is not an easy pack to arrange a meeting with. Especially after....everything.....” He stretched out the everything.
I looked between the two of them. “What am I missing here?” I questioned.
Kai chuckled dryly and Beta Wyatt gave me a look. “Basically, the Alpha of Blue Lake, he wanted to arrange a marriage between Kai and his daughter. As you see, that did not happen.” He explained.
Kai rolled his eyes “Neither of us were interested in the marriage or each other. We agreed that while it was a smart move in terms of power, we both wanted to meet our fated mates. It caused quite the rift. Alpha Stephen is old fashioned in the way that power means everything. Fated mates make you weak in the world of werewolves.”
I nodded slowly. I wonder what Kai and Wyatt think of me not waiting for my fated. I was silent for a moment, thinking of the best way to arrange a meeting. “What if you contact Alpha Stephen’s daughter. There was clearly a level of respect she held for you and it sounds like you two parted on good terms.”
Kai looked lost in thought for a moment. “That might work. Let me start there and we will continue this after I speak with her. I hate to cut this meeting short, as there is much left to discuss, but my Luna is at the clinic about to see my pup for the first time and I need to leave now if I want to surprise her.”
We all stood, shaking hands, and heading out of his office.
I was on my way back to the house when Felicity linked me to meet her at the park. I changed directions, heading to the bench that we normally sit at when we spend time here. It only took me a few minutes to reach the spot, so I sat down, waiting on her to arrive.
While sitting, I thought about everything that we had just finished discussing. I knew that healers weren’t the only type of special wolf, but telekinesis and mind reading, just blows my mind. There were so many of us hidden among regular wolves, I wondered if there are wolves here that have just been too afraid to come forward. Hopefully Alpha Stephen’s daughter will allow us to come take a look at that book.
A slight blow of the wind brought the intoxicating smell of strawberries and vanilla floating around me. I inhaled, enjoying every bit of air I could take in. I felt her arms wrap around my neck from behind and her head lay gently on my shoulder.
“How is Cami?” I asked.
She nuzzled into my neck “Better now that Kai is with her. She said she’s been missing him.”
I inhaled again, calmed by her scent, “I bet it’s hard to be away from each other. Especially during pregnancy. I appreciate everything that they are doing to help us.”
I felt her smile into my neck before slowly standing up and walking around to sit beside me on the bench. She laced her fingers into mine before leaning on my shoulder. “About that, I heard that you and the Alpha discussed his findings.”
I nodded, “He found nine other wolves with abilities in our allied packs. A family of four with telekinesis, two with mind reading powers, and the remaining three chose not to meet with him. He learned that there is book within a library on the west coast that holds all of the information on abilities within our kind.”
Felicity sat up quickly “That’s amazing. Are we going to go find out what’s in that book?” she rushed out excitedly.
"Unfortunately, Blue Lake and Twilight Woods aren’t on the best of terms. I guess their Alpha wanted Kai to marry his daughter and neither of them were interested in the contract marriage.”
Felicity looked annoyed “Why do people even agree to arranged marriages anymore?” she scoffed.
“Apparently Alpha Stephen thinks that fated mates make you weak and he wanted to form a strong alliance between the packs.”
Felicity furrowed her brows, thinking for a moment. I noticed her bite down on her bottom lip “Well, I think that is foolish thinking. Everyone should at least be able to make that choice on their own.”
My heart beat a little faster as I looked at her getting flustered. I leaned in, placing my hands on both sides of her cheeks and pulling her close. “You are the best choice that I have ever made.” I watched as her cheeks flamed to a deep shade of Fushia. She closed the distance, kissing me hungrily. After a few moments, I reluctantly pulled away. She nodded, allowing me to continue.
“While I agree with you, Alpha Stephen did not. They’re not necessarily on bad terms, but they're not on good either. Kai is going to contact his daughter directly and ask for her assistance.”
Felicity sighed “Let’s hope she’s willing to help us. If we can get more information on what kinds of abilities wolves can possess, we might have the upper hand. What is the plan after the book?” she questioned.
I shrugged a little. We hadn’t got that far. “That’s the whole plan as of now. We are going to meet again after Kai makes that phone call.”
