FELICITY POV
“Finally!” I huffed, speaking to no one in particular.
My paper was finished, I’d proofread it, and submitted it to my professor. If they are happy with the contents, I will be moving forward to take my exam. Then, I will officially be a teacher.
I did a little happy dance, or happy wiggle, since I was sitting in the bed.
Closing my laptop, I slowly climbed out of bed in desperate need of using the restroom. On my way down the hall, a swift kick to my bladder caused a warm liquid to stream down my legs. I leaned forward slightly, looking over my belly at the puddle slowly forming on the floor.
I closed my eyes, slumping my shoulders. “Seriously? Girl, I was almost there. You couldn’t have waited to kick me?!” I muttered under my breath. This earned me another kick. Audibly sighing and running my hands over my face, I carefully stepped around the puddle and headed to the bathroom to grab a towel and some cleaning supplies.
This is embarrassing. I take no responsibility for you wetting your pants, Iris chuckled.
‘Can you give me a break, it’s bad enough that I can’t control my bladder anymore and now I’ve got you popping in with your annoying comments all day’, I growled.
After cleaning up my mess, I dropped the dirty towels in the laundry basket, and headed back to the bathroom. I guess I’m taking a shower before I leave to meet Cami. I linked Cami, explaining that I would be a few minutes late. I quickly washed up, reluctantly climbing out of the hot stream of water. I didn’t want to keep Cami waiting. I dressed, towel drying my hair, applying some curl cream, and minimal makeup. I grabbed my purse, checking the doors to make sure they were locked, and headed to the café on the edge of our pack lands.
“Took you long enough.” Cami whined, tilting her head to the side.
“I’m so sorry. Little miss here decided to kick my bladder and I peed myself.” I said, shaking my head and rolling my eyes.
Cami tried holding back her laughter.
I scowled at her. She held her hands up in surrender.
“Goddess, I do not envy you right now.”
“Don’t worry, you’re not too far behind me. You just wait. Take a few extra seconds to get to the bathroom and boom, you’ve peed yourself.”
Her eyes went wide before we both bust out laughing.
One of the waitress’ came by, bringing me my favorite strawberry lemonade and Cami a hot hibiscus flavored tea. After she took our food order, she mentioned that she was taking a break, and suggested another waitress if we needed anything else.
“So, I have to ask, does the pregnancy horniness get better?” Cami questioned.
I almost spat my drink. Clearing my throat “Nope. No it doesn’t. It comes in waves. So one week, you can't get enough and the next, you can't stand the thought.” I said chuckling.
She groaned in annoyance. “I am literally dying with Kai being gone. I can’t keep up with myself.” She pursed her lips.
“Now, I don’t envy your situation.”
She laughed dryly. “Well, darn. I’m going to have to make sure that Kai doesn’t take any more trips. At least not for the next five months.”
I nodded “I totally understand. Pregnancy is crazy. One minute you’re crying over something as minute as your sock not feeling right on your swollen foot and the next minute you want to pounce on your man as soon as he walks through the door.”
Cami raised her eyebrows, nodding in agreement.
“How are you enjoying being Luna?” I asked.
Cami smiled brightly “Gosh, I love it. I think that the moon goddess knew that I was meant to lead. Kai’s mother has just been amazing, walking me through everything. I feel like I was born for this.”
I loved seeing Cami’s enthusiasm about her new role. “I agree. I think you were born to lead. I remember meeting you in school. You just took charge, told me I was going to be your friend, and nothing could get in your way.”
Cami looked lost in thought, frowning at me. “Kids were so mean back then. I remember seeing you alone and hearing everyone say you were weird and sick. When I became your friend, people thought I would catch your cooties. Now look at us. I’m a Luna, you’re about to become a kick-a*s teacher. Cheers to proving them wrong!”
She held her glass up and I clanked my lemonade with her tea, smiling and feeling so grateful that her and I are friends.
A new waitress brought our food out and refilled our drinks.
“Your waffles smell heavenly. Remind me to order that next time.”
She nodded before tearing into them. “Oh my, these taste better than they smell.” She moaned, while taking another bite.
“According to Parker, moaning while eating is a surefire way to get your man going.”
Cami giggled. “So, what you’re saying is I should definitely eat these in front of Kai?” She winked.
We both laughed. “I missed this. I feel like we’re both so busy with you being in school and me being a Luna that we barely have time anymore.”
I nodded, feeling emotional all of a sudden. Cami was my only friend. She was the only one who stuck by me, and for that, I’m so grateful.
“Oh sh*t. If we don’t hurry up, I’m going to be late for my appointment.” she rushed out. We quickly paid our bill, heading to Cami’s appointment. “It’s time to see our future Alpha.” she squealed.
“Good to see you, Luna. How are you feeling?” Dr. Jess asked.
“Great, honestly. I currently have no symptoms. Just nervous and excited.” Cami responded.
Dr. Jess turned her attention to me, “It’s nice to see you too Felicity. Everything going well for you?”
I smiled and nodded, “Just here to support my best friend since Kai is out on business.”
Dr. Jess nodded, returning her attention to Cami. “All of your tests have come back great. I will prescribe you with some vitamins to keep you healthy during your pregnancy. Do you have any questions for me?”
Cami looked relieved. “I’m just ready to see my pup.”
Dr. Jess smiled “I will have them get the ultrasound room ready for you.” she said before heading out of the door.
Cami looked at me “I was having a full internal meltdown waiting on her to tell me the results of my testing.” she said, releasing a deep breath.
I looked at her knowingly, “I totally get that. When I found out we were expecting, every fear possible ran through my mind. I don’t think they’ve entirely disappeared either. I go to bed some nights expecting to wake up and have all of this be some kind of dream.” I sighed, thinking about the possibility of that still being my reality.
Cami reached out and grabbed my hand, “I’m here to tell you, that this is all real, and we made it girl. Healthy pup club right here!” She raised her hand up for a high-five. Her excitement was contagious.
There was a soft knock on the door. “Come in” Cami whispered, sniffing the air slightly. Just then, the door slowly opened, and Kai popped his head in.
“Looking for a Cami Jenson.” his deep voice echoed through the room.
Cami jumped up from the exam table, running and jumping into Kai’s arms. “How are you here?” she cried.
He smiled, “How could I miss seeing our pup for the first time?” He peppered her face with kisses before gently placing her feet back on the ground.
He gave me a half smile that didn’t reach his eyes, “It’s nice to see you, Felicity. I just finished meeting with Parker.”
I furrowed my brows. He must have figured something out while he was meeting the allied packs.
“I’m going to go ahead and catch up with Parker. It sounds like we might have some things we need to discuss.”
Cami tilted her head while Kai just nodded.
I walked over, hugging Cami. “I expect to see pictures when you all are done here! Congratulations you two.” I waved as I left the room, linking Parker to meet me in the park.
