Not edited  Katy Many thoughts ran through my mind as I embark on my way back home. Some part of me was happy that I've gotten a job finally and some part of me is having this negatively mostly about the lie. My small phone vibrate from my purse snapping me out of the short reverie. Darnell's name flashed across the screen. She called at the right time. "Hello" I commenced placing the phone to my ear. My voice came out almost as a whisper.  "Hey dear, how- wait.... Why is your voice down everything okay" No matter what, she knows whenever something is bothering me. I can not hide it from her. "We need to talk but I'm currently out now. I will face time you when I arrived home" "Okay" I clicked the hang up button. I left the building, giving it a last glance and then hailed a taxi. I rested my head back as the taxi man drove me to my house. One burden has been lifted off my head. I will get you pay for Amy tuition fee, some expenses and maybe start paying off the loan slowly. And for mom, I don't know what to say about her. Whenever I try to seat her down and talk some sense into her, she always come with excuse so I stopped trying.  The drive to downtown where I'm living was a ten minutes drive. That means I won't have to bother about taking a long time to reach the office. The car came to a halt few miles away from our backyard. Slipping out purse,  I paid him his taxi fare thanking him on the accord. I have a habit of thanking taxi drivers whenever I ride one. Our surrounding area was consciously quite and breezy as always.  One thing I like about the place, is no one cares about your personal matter. Everybody mind his/her own business. Getting to our entrance door didn't take me more than one minutes. It is barely a one minutes walk. I first pulled the door in case its locked. We all have a spare key in case anyone of us comes home before the other. Though mom always lose her own but I still try my best to make sure she comes home while we are at home too. Pushing the door open, I was met with our quite yet cool living room. It was somewhat dark which mean either Amy is sleeping or dulgibg herself reading novels. She should be sorry for herself with I catch her doing the latter. I dropped my purse on the couch before proceeding to the bedroom.  As I predicted, she was curled up in bed. As she sees me, she cover the duvet up to her face. “You should know by now how bad you are in acting” I ushered as I unbutton my jacket also making my way to the small vanity mirror on the farther end of the room. “You’re back already?” She asked faking sleep. I spare her a small glance before turning my attention back to the mirror. “I’m not staying there all night. Am I?” “What’s with the sarcastic tone. I'm just asking. How was the interview?” At first, I brushed off her question but later on, a smile made it way to my lips. “It went well” I muttered to almost myself.  “Meaning?” She asked again. She was now to a sitting position. Amy went her gossip self.  “I got the job” And the next thing she was standing behind me with her arms wrapped around my neck. “Oh my God! Finally! I'm so happy”  “Can you let go? You’re choking me!” I exclaimed detaching her arms from my body. Feeling some sourness down my throat. “Sorry. I was overjoyed. You finally got the job you deserve. But wait.... What kind of company is it?” My hand stop to a halt at my action. I know the question has to come sooner or later. In fact, I know it will come soon and now that Amy is asking me, it drove me to a thought. Did I make a good choice in accepting the job? Have I thought about the consequences that will follow if my little lie create some problems.  A hand on my shoulder snapped me out of my thought. “Do they pay well?” Came her question again. “Yeah they do.  It's a travel and tour company” I answered truthfully. But I was not ready to tell her the full details. That should be a discussion for another day. Her face lit up in happiness. “Really? It sounds good.  Does that mean our problems will be solved?” “I’m not sure yet but I hope so”  A moment of silence fell within us. I retreat back to combing my hair, while Amy proceeded to her novel. No words were then exchanged between us. We both know silence is the best solution. Because I can not say our problems will come to an end. The least I can do is work hard and pay father's debt. ~*~*~ Later that night, I cooked some boiled potatoes for dinner with some fruit juice. No matter how much problem I have in my plate, I make sure we eat the best and also eat well. Just because the family is in some kind of debt dosen't mean we'll starve ourselves. Amy and I were focused on our food when the door to the living room was pushed open, came in mom. “Hey girl” She commenced slipping out her heels. Surprisingly, she appears sober. Which mean she didn't drink. That's a first time to me. Mom rarely comes home in her normal self.  “Hi Mom” Amy was the first to speak up while I only spare her a glance before averting my attention back to my food. I know talking will not help matters. She made her way towards us, taking the seat beside me. “Girls, I have a confession to make. I'm traveling out of the city” The potato that I was about to take to my mouth stop amidst air. Her words going straight to my air.
