‘Aiden is not picking up my calls or replying to my text messages.’
“Maybe he is busy with the clan.” Quinn shrugged her shoulders. “Try giving him a call in the evening again.’
“Oh, okay.’ I agreed.
I hope everything is alright.
Aiden is my secret boyfriend. We started dating as soon as we entered high school. I’ve been in love with him since I was 12.
We both realised our feelings, and got into a relationship since my uncle Lake was against it.
We promised not to tell anyone except for Quinn, who knew about our relationship.
If Lake finds out I was into dating, he will warn Aiden to stay away from me and make sure we break up.
Aiden Bardawulf is from Paxon Pack, and his family is the fourth top Alphas in rank. Which means Lake’s Pack is stronger than his family and his pack.
And Aiden does not have the right to go against Lake, which will create war and bloodshed when we truly know that we will never get accepted.
I love Aiden so much and seeing him not at school made me worried.
I got home after school was closed and saw the elders of the pack gathered in the living room and five of them were seriously speaking with Lake.
I got a bit closer to them to eavesdrop on what they were talking about to Lake.
Something must have happened in the pack for them to come to our home to see him.
What happened?
“It’s high time you seek for a Luna, Alpha Lake. It’s been seventeen years already and Aurora had grown up, old enough to search for her mate. Why don’t you consider looking through the women we selected for you? They are all beautiful with good genes and good status, Alpha Lake.’ one of the Alphas suggested to him.
My heart sank as I heard those words from Alpha Killian.
Are they suggesting Lake to get married? Why? It’s been years and why are they telling him to get married?
“Like I said ten years ago.” Lake began with a chuckle. “I’m not ready to search for, a Luna. I’m alright with Aurora and besides, I didn’t come to your house to tell you I’m f*****g lonely, right?’ he teased.
“No one said you are lonely, Lake. We are only concerned about you. It’s been years and the seat of Luna is empty. The people are saying the reason you are not getting married is that of Aurora. They also say maybe you are impotent or you are gay.’
Lake laughed out. “Hey, don’t make me laugh. I’m not gay, neither am I impotent. My d**k is working fine, everyone. I don’t want to get married because I’m busy and besides, who is going to give our Luna attention when she needs me? I don’t want to be a miserable Alpha and a husband to the woman I’m getting married to. Aurora is already complaining, saying I don’t give her enough time, even though I try my best. Imagine my wife too. I can’t handle it. I don’t have the time for that right now. When I’m ready, I will get married, but not now.”
“It seems like you don’t understand the situation you are in, Alpha Lake. Everyone is talking and the people, the clan, need an heir, a son and an Alpha. You don’t have a son or a wife. Who is going to take after you when you die and take care of your family and the clan? Oh, don’t think it’s Aurora who’s going to take after you. She’s a Beta and can’t rule a pack. She hasn’t even had an encounter with her mate yet. Get things straight, Alpha.’
Lake laughed.
“This matter is not funny, my lord.’
“Aurora is my niece. You can’t just tell me to throw her out of the pack and bring someone else.’
Throw me out of the pack?
“No one is saying you shouldn’t take care of Aurora. What we are all trying to say is, you should think of yourself by getting married and having a child. You look very young and handsome despite the fact you are in your early thirties. Please Alpha Lake, it is time to do the right thing. Select a Luna according to your choice and get married to her.”
I couldn’t listen to them anymore and ran upstairs and quietly shut the door to my room.
How could they force him to get married? He said he’s not getting married. Why the pressure?
This is pissing me off. Get a Luna who will give him a son? Are they serious right now? They are taking this like a joke? Disregarding me as if I’m useless?
I dropped my bag on the floor and looked up at the ceiling with so much anger.
Lake, getting married? What a piece of loaded crap?
I got up and crawled to my bed and looked at the sky with my heart beating so fast across the window.
“I don’t want him to get married.’ I uttered. Why am I so angry just because of Alpha Killian’s words?
“Why are you angry?’
I jerked up with shock and saw Lake behind me with a warm smile.
I got up and ran to him, giving him a hug.
“What is it? Did someone offend you at school?’
I shook my head and glanced up at him.
“I’m not a child anymore, Lake.’
“Oh, I was just concerned.’
“I know, Lake. Don’t just get married.’
His eyes widened, and then he grinned. “Were you eavesdropping on my conversations with the elders of the clan?’
“I just heard some conversations. I couldn’t stay to listen anymore. They were so disgusting. Why are they forcing you to get married? You are the Alpha of the pack. You can do as you damn well please.’
“You are right about me being an Alpha of the pack, Aurora. But you forget one thing, I’m also the people’s responsibility and if you don’t keep up with what will satisfy the people, you are not qualified to be their leader.’
I stood against him. “But that is not fair at all. This is about your life, not theirs.”
“That’s the world of the werewolves, Aurora. You can’t change it.’
“But I don’t want you to get married.’
“Why?’ he chuckled. “I’m still alive.’
“Because you wouldn’t be here anymore. It’s hard for me to see you these days and if you get married, it will get worse.’
“How is it going to get worse is what I want to understand, sweetheart?’
