Chapter 3

445 Words
Andras pored over the information he’d been sent by a demon colleague, he was desperate to find a way to stop this Dazomar asshole that didn’t depend entirely on Raina doing something that might end up hurting her. As far as he could tell, Dazomar was using ancient magic to protect him from everything they threw at him. Andras had noticed however, that Dazomar didn’t remain present at fights for very long, the magic must have limitations. Perhaps they could trap him, wait until his juice ran out, then kill the bastard? There was chatter that he’d be attacking a nearby Malgoth hub, it was imperative that a plan be concocted before he arrived. Rygel sat outside the ornate building where Andras’ office was, waiting for Raina. Andras had organised a meeting between them to discuss Dazomar’s next move. Rygel wanted to speak with Raina first, to apologise, maybe to explain. Rygel checked his watch for the millionth time since sitting down, she had to be here soon. He felt her presence before he looked up and saw her approach, he could smell cinnamon and apple on her. “Have you been baking?” Rygel asked as Raina came over to him and leaned on a nearby tree. “Maybe, who wants to know?” Raina winked. “You didn’t bring any for me and Andras”? Rygel eyed Raina’s backpack, suspecting it was too small for any major deliciousness. “My baking is for a special few, it is a privilege you must earn”, Raina said, c*****g her hip and swishing her ponytail. “Ah I see. Well, challenge accepted.” Rygel said with a grin. “Hey listen, I also wanted to apologise for the other day, I…” “No stress,” Raina interrupted, “I’m not your type, it’s cool”. She acted as though she didn’t care, but Rygel could feel the small sting in her words. “It’s not that at all Raina,” Rygel looked up into Raina’s eyes, “you’re extremely my type, that’s the problem”. Raina stared back at him, visibly confused. “Look.” Rygel broke the eye contact and looked down at the ground, “I just don’t want you thinking it’s your fault, or anything to do with you…” Raina frowned, thinking. “It’s okay, thanks for apologising.” A moment of silence passed between them, both having far more to say but not feeling this was the time or place to say it. “Hey let’s head in to see Andras…”, Raina gestured to the building and led the way to Andras’s office.
