On Day 3, our phones started dying. We had videos stored on them, our playlists. I was in the middle of an ebook, and I had a couple other titles in my library ready to go. Our phones had tons of games. But there was no way to recharge the damn things, no interface to get power from the ship. By the middle of today, Day 4, all our phones were just dead chunks of metal and plastic. Warren says we could make homemade chess sets with just pieces of paper—a 64-square board and slips of paper marked as the different pieces.
