Xavier’s P.O.V I felt a surge of panic when I saw Rose standing on the edge of the rooftop. She looked so hopeless and desperate as if she had nothing left to live for. I couldn't bear the thought of losing her, she was my soulmate, my reason for being there. I felt my body transform, my muscles grow, my claws extend, and my senses sharpen. I caught up with her and wrapped my arms around her, using my strength and speed to slow down our fall. I looked into her eyes and begged her to stay with me. I don't know how long we fell, but eventually, we landed on the ground. I hugged her. I can feel her scent closely. It was attracting every fiber of my body. I wanted her to be in my arms like this for the rest of my life. My eyes fell on her lips and I was tempted to kiss her lips, but I controlled it. I was angry that she wanted to sacrifice her life just for the stupid cunt, who pushed her away. I scolded her and went away from there. I waited for a few seconds, then turned around and walked away. But I didn't go far. I was too worried about her, too afraid that she might try something again. So I followed her secretly, keeping a safe distance. I wanted to make sure that she was safe, that she was alive. I loved her more than anything, and I would do anything to protect her. But she can never be protected from me. Xavier tossed and turned in his new bed, but sleep eluded him. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Rose's innocent face haunting him. He hated her with every fiber of his being. He hated how she tried to take her own life, how she tried to manipulate his mind, how she reminded him of his father's death. He came to the pack with one goal: to kill Rose and avenge his father. He wanted to know everything that happened to his father, when Rose's father, Aiden, murdered his father, the Celestial Highness. He wanted to unravel the mystery behind that fateful night when Aiden was hanged and left no clue as to why he did it. Xavier was certain that Aiden was not acting alone. He knew that a mere beta of a small pack could never kill a celestial highness, the most powerful being in the supernatural world. He knew that no weapon could harm a celestial highness, let alone kill him. He knew that he was not the only one who was curious about how Aiden managed to do it. All the previous celestial highnesses were also terrified and baffled by the incident. Xavier was also convinced that Alpha Fenris was involved in the attack. He did not believe Fenris' claims of innocence and ignorance. He did not forget the fact that a beta would never attack anyone unless ordered by his alpha. He suspected that Fenris had a hidden agenda and a dark secret. He switched places with one of Fenris' friends, Jack António's son. Jack's pack was attacked by some rogues and Jack was badly injured. Jack wanted to send his weak and foolish son away from the war, so he informed Fenris, Jack's old friend, that his son would join them soon. But Xavier intercepted the son, kidnapped him, and killed him, taking his place and identity. That was the only way he could infiltrate the pack and discover their secrets. He planned to torture Rose and make her suffer. He thought she was the daughter of a cunning murderer and she knew everything. But he soon realized that she was more than he bargained for. She was not only innocent, but also brave, kind, and beautiful. She stirred something in his cold heart that he had never felt before. She challenged him, intrigued him, and captivated him. He found himself drawn to her, despite his hatred and resentment. He found himself wanting to protect her, despite his vengeance and anger. He found himself falling for her, despite his logic and reason. He did not know what to do with these conflicting emotions. He did not know how to deal with this unexpected complication. He did not know how to face the truth that he was about to uncover. In his restless mind, Xavier heard a voice in his head. It was his wolf, his inner beast, his other half. His wolf had a name, Drakon. Drakon was loyal, fierce, and protective. He was also in love with Rose, their mate. "Xavier, wake up," Drakon said softly. "You need to stop this madness. You need to stop hating Rose. She is our mate, our soulmate, our life mate. She is the best thing that ever happened to us. She is the only one who can heal us, who can make us whole, who can make us happy." Xavier groaned and tried to ignore him. He hated it when Drakon talked like that. He hated it when Drakon reminded him of his feelings for Rose. He hated it when Drakon contradicted his plans for revenge. "Drakon shut up," Xavier snapped. "You don't know what you're talking about. You don't know what Rose did to us. You don't know what her father did to our father. You don't know what we have to do to avenge him." Drakon sighed and shook his head. He knew everything that Xavier knew. He shared his memories, his thoughts, his pain. He also shared his love for Rose, but Xavier refused to admit it. "Xavier, I know everything you know," Drakon said patiently. "I know that Rose's father killed our father. I know that it was a terrible crime that cannot be forgiven. I know that you want to make him pay, even though he is already dead. But I also know that Rose had nothing to do with it. She was innocent, she was unaware, she was a victim too." Xavier clenched his teeth and closed his eyes. He didn't want to hear it. He didn't want to believe it. He didn't want to forgive her. "Drakon, you're wrong," Xavier said stubbornly. "Rose is not innocent. She is not unaware. She is not a victim. She is a liar, a manipulator, a traitor. She knows everything that happened seven years ago. She knows why her father killed our father. She knows the secret that they are hiding from us." Drakon frowned and shook his head again. He knew that Xavier was delusional, paranoid, and obsessed. He knew that Xavier had no proof, no evidence, no reason to accuse Rose of anything. He knew that Xavier was blinded by his hatred and his pain. "Xavier, you're delusional," Drakon said firmly. "Rose is not a liar, a manipulator, or a traitor. She doesn't know anything that happened back then. She doesn't know why her father killed our father. She doesn't know any secrets that they are hiding from us." Xavier growled and opened his eyes. He glared at the ceiling and felt a surge of anger and frustration. "Drakon, you're naive," Xavier said harshly. "Rose is playing with us, with our feelings, with our minds. She is trying to seduce us, to distract us, to stop us from fulfilling our mission. She is trying to save herself, her father's legacy, her pack's reputation." “No Xavier, you are wrong. She is a young girl who is suffering for her father's sins. They killed her father and punished her for his mistakes. You have to protect him, you have to protect your mate.” Drakon tried to reason with Xavier. “Shut up i***t, don't feel sympathy for anyone, even if she is our mate. Did you forget what Mother said? No matter what, we never have to forget about revenge. Now stop talking.” He asked and shut his wolf and thought again. I wanted to hate her, but I couldn’t. She was my mate, and I felt a bond with her that was stronger than anything I ever experienced. She was the other half of my soul, the missing piece of my heart, the light in my darkness. She made me feel things I never thought I could feel again. She made me happy. She made me feel alive, she made me feel human, and she made me feel loved. She was the only one who could calm me down, who could comfort me, who could heal me. I loved her more than anything. She was my mate, and she was his daughter. She was my salvation, and she was my damnation. She was my everything, and she was my nothing at the same time. Third Person P.O.V Xavier looked up at the night sky, where the full moon shone brightly. He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth, feeling a surge of anger and frustration. "Why did you do this to me?” he shouted at the moon. "Why did you give me her as my mate? She is the daughter of my father's killer, the enemy of my pack, the bane of my existence. How could you be so cruel and unfair? How could you mock me with this twisted fate?" He waited for an answer, but none came. The moon was silent and indifferent, as if mocking his pain. He took a deep breath and lay on the bed. Xavier was lying awake in his bed, thinking about Rose. He couldn't get her out of his mind, no matter how hard he tried. He remembered her face, her voice, her touch. He remembered how she made him feel, how she stirred something in his cold heart, how she challenged him, intrigued him, captivated him. Suddenly, the room was filled with a sinister atmosphere. The lights flickered, and the wind howled. It was as if the devil had brought his hell with him. Xavier felt his eyes turn red and his fangs grow. He was ready to fight, to kill, to rip him apart. He was my enemy, my nemesis, my doom. Xavier felt a sudden movement on his bed as if someone had climbed on it next to him. He opened his eyes and saw nothing but darkness. He felt a cold hand touch his chest, followed by a warm breath on his neck. He shivered in disgust and fear. Who was this? What did they want? He realized that the person was unbuttoning his shirt, exposing his skin to the air. He felt a soft kiss on his collarbone, then another one on his shoulder. He recognized the scent and the voice of the person. It was Magnus, his girlfriend. He pushed her away and turned on the lamp. He saw her smirking at him, wearing a tight red dress and red lipstick. She looked like a s*x doll. Before meeting Rose, she used to be sexy, but after seeing Rose, she just felt like a normal girl with nothing special about her. Maybe it’s the mate bond. "Magnus, just stop it. I'm not in the mood for these silly games," he snapped at her, trying to hide his anger and pain. She laughed wickedly and hugged him. Xavier rolled his eyes in annoyance, clearly fed up with Magnus's dramatics. He stayed firm in his decision, not wanting to show any affection towards her. He was fully aware of how deceptive and untrustworthy she could be, and he had no intention of falling into her traps again.
