11 Wedding Ring

914 Words
Behind those big guys who had rounded Lola up, two women were watching with great interest and smiling smugly. Cherry turned to Dani and whispered, “What's the beef between you and that blind woman? She’ll definitely be ruined if you don’t stop those bad boys now.” “Nothing. I just dislike her.” When Dani saw the panic on Lola’s face, she grew even more excited. Blake had waited for her for three years, so her friends all thought he loved her very much. He had never brought up Lola in front of any outsiders and no one knew that she was his ex-wife, so those punkers were under no pressure when they bullied her. One of those guys grabbed Lola’s collar with a lecherous look on his face, trying to rip her clothes off. As she struggled, her necklace slipped out of her collar. “It’s special. Let me have a look!” With that, the man reached out for the necklace. Lola tried to tuck it into her collar, but she was so flustered that she failed after a few attempts. “Looks like it means a lot to her!” Those men laughed, feeling even more curious about the necklace. But when Dani saw it, the smile on her face was replaced by rage and jealousy. The pendant on the necklace was actually a ring, the same style as Blake was wearing. Blake had never worn anything on his hands before, so when she woke up from the coma and saw the ring on his finger, she thought he had developed a new hobby during the three years. But now she realized that she was wrong. It was his wedding ring! “I need you to do me a favor.” She then whispered in Cherry’s ear for a while. Cherry was shocked. “Are you sure you want to do it?” “Of course!” Dani said impatiently. She was from a powerful family which could help Cherry’s family with their business, and she was Blake’s girl, so Cherry didn’t dare to go against her will, but she did think she was too vicious and merciless. Lola staggered backward, trying to avoid those people, but they still pulled her necklace off easily. “Give it back to me!” she shouted. She couldn’t see who had her necklace, so she just stumbled around and probed with her hands, like a headless chicken. “Relax! We just want to take a look.” Those people found it interesting that she would hurriedly run in that direction whenever she heard a sound, so they kept throwing the ring to each other to make fun of her. “Give it back to me. I’m begging you,” Lola said chokingly. She didn’t take anything from Blake besides the ring, which was the only proof that they were ever together. “Okay! Here you go!” With that, a man threw the necklace at her. Lola reached out, but there was no way she could catch it. Hearing the sound of something hitting the floor, she immediately knelt down and fumbled for it. She really hated herself. Even though the ring was just in front of her, she couldn’t see it. Someone deliberately smashed a wine bottle onto the floor, causing the broken glass to scatter everywhere. Lola crawled about to find the ring, and a short while later, her white dress was stained with the blood from the cut on her knees. Watching her discomfited appearance, those men laughed aloud. “Look at that blind woman! She’s crawling like a dog!” “She’s more attractive when she’s weeping. I like it when beautiful women shed tears. The pathetic look makes them look so charming!” “Then we should make her cry even louder.” “Get out of the way! You’re stepping on my ring…” Hearing that, those men laughed even louder. Lola pleaded helplessly, “Don’t step on it, please…” The man Cherry had just talked to looked at her fair fingers with a vicious smile, then he stepped on them and ground them a few times. “Oh, sorry! I stepped on your hand. I didn’t mean it.” Lola trembled in pain, tears popped out again. “My hand…” Before she could finish speaking, someone stepped on her other hand, making her scream again. Seeing her ghastly pale face, Cherry looked away and asked, “Dani, isn't that enough?” Dani was glad to see Lola suffer, so she didn’t want it to end so soon. “Let them go on.” A moment later, the manager rushed over and pushed those men away. “Hey, guys, stop doing that! She’s Mr. Lance’s friend. Can you afford to offend the Lance family?” Startled, those young men froze on the spot. After a few seconds, they looked at Lola and took a few steps backward in a hurry. “My ring!” Lola shouted in a hoarse voice. The manager picked the ring up from the floor and handed it to her. “Lola, here’s your ring.” She immediately took it and wanted to brush the dust off it. At the thought that her hands were bleeding, she rubbed her fingers against her dress before carefully touching the ring. But the next second, her body was stiffened. The manager immediately asked, “What’s wrong?” “My ring… is broken!”
