Chapter3. Hailey

“ Mia take cooper inside.” Mia nodded her head and with wide eyes she ran inside with cooper leaving me to deal with her moody father alone.
“ do you remember my rules Hailey?” I nodded my head and looked at him hesitantly.
“ do you remember what I said about you leaving the house?” I nodded again afraid to open my mouth.
“ tell me Hailey, what did I tell you to do?” My heart started beating fast as I realized I was in for a punishment.
“ that I should check in with you whenever I leave the house even if I want to go for a walk?” He raised an eyebrow at me.
“ and did you do that?” I shook my head and put my hands on my hips.
“ hey stop trying to control me Dominic I’m not a stupid teenager anymore, I can take care of myself.” He sighed and ran his hand through his salt and pepper hair. Gosh he was gorgeous, the more he gets older the more he becomes handsome with age.I felt myself getting wet just standing here staring at him.
“ don’t do that Hailey I know what you are thinking. And I also know that you are not a teenager anymore but you are still stupid.” I gasp at his insult and went to slap him but he grabbed my hand and held on to it tightly.
“ stupid because you think that everything is ok and you can take my daughter and leave without my permission. Stupid because no matter how many times I talked to you about not leaving without checking in with me first you always do the opposite!” I tried pulling my hand from his grip but he held on tighter.
“ I don’t always have to listen to you Dominic, you came up with those rules years ago when I was kidnapped and almost killed. I’m out of danger and perfectly capable of taking care of myself!” I shouted back but he was having none of it.
“ don’t test me Hailey, don’t you dare test me! It doesn’t matter if those rules were years ago! You should follow them to your grave!” I finally got my hand free and began marching inside.
“ you know what I’m done talking to you, I’m going to leave.” I opened the door and was about to close it in his face but he got in right as I was about to do it and grabbed me.
“ don’t you dare do that.” I tried pushing him off me but he wasn’t budging.
“ do what? Stop you from making a stupid decision? If you leave what do you think is going to happen when the kids realized your’e not here? Use your head Hailey.” He let me go and I marched up to our room so I could take a shower and leave. Of course he followed me there.
“ they would think you are an ogre and they would hate you for it but I don’t care.” He shook his head and looked at me.
“ gosh how things have changed. If the kids weren’t here right now I would take you over my knees and.....”
“ I dare you to finish that sentence.” He closed his mouth after I said that and began walking up to me.
“ you are going to get the punishment of your life once the kids aren’t here.” I folded my arms and looked at him.
“ and you are soon going to get the shock of your life.” Shoot my big mouth, I hope he doesn’t realize what I was saying.
“ what?” He asked and I began to look everywhere else but at him.
“ I’m going to take a shower, don’t join me.” And with that I went in the bathroom and close the door. To think he would change, over the years he has gotten worst and I was tired of it. Scaring the kids and acting too controlling was too much for me to deal with. I heard a knock on the door as I began undressing and getting in the shower but I ignored it and began humming.
Once I was done I wrapped a towel around me and got out, peaking outside to make sure that the cost was clear and when I saw that he was not here I made my way towards the closet and went in search of something to wear. A yellow and white dress was what I decided on wearing with white sneakers because I still hated heels. There aren’t even one pair of heels in my closet and I loved it that way. If I have to attend an event with Dominic I would just go straight for my flats, it’s much more comfortable.
I finished getting ready and grabbed my purse so I could drive over to Jessie’s house and spend the night there, if he thought I was kidding he was going to be in for a surprise. I made my way outside undetected and breathed a sigh of relief as the kids and cooper were all locked in their rooms seeing as it’s Saturday and they won’t have school until Monday. I didn’t want to leave them, but I wanted Dominic to suffer. I looked at my overnight bag and through it on the front seat of my white Honda Civic And sped off.
I did text Jessie to let her know what was happening and she told me I could come right over and spend as much time as I needed with them. I was glad she was still in the picture because I could use her as a way to escape from Dominic whenever he’s like this. My phone rang and I saw that it was Mia calling. I turned it on loud speaker so I wouldn’t have to hold it while I was driving.
“ hey mom where are you? Dad is going crazy and he’s threatening to kill you if he finds you.” I smirked a little at that because it was his fault why I wasn’t there in the first place.If I opted to sleep in another room, he would just take me back to our room even when I tried putting up a fight so I had to leave so I could get some time away from him.
“ sorry to leave you with him like that hunny, I promise I’ll be home tomorrow. I’m not going to tell you where I’m going because I don’t want you to run to your father about it even though I’m one hundred percent sure he already figured it out. Just look after your brothers for me until I get back ok?” She said ok and we talked for a little then hang up the phone.I hope I don’t get her into trouble for keeping this a secret from Dominic. I just hope I could get one night from him for myself so I can have some peace and quiet.
