~Chapter 5~

What a stroke of luck! she is not going to have to worry about having to pay him back, she is going to work for him while he pays for her education, at least until she can get a bank card, that she planned on opening as soon as she got here. This should teach her not to move around with large amounts of cash, a habit she's had for a long time. Especially not when she is traveling to a foreign country. She has never liked doing house work. Even while growing up, she usually left everything for her sister to do. But now she will just have to be strong and never give the kind man a reason to change his mind about helping her. Following the scent, she goes to look for Mr Nik. The old man speaks as soon as he sees her. "What has he told you?" "I am going to join you. Tomorrow, I will be officially his worker. And he will be paying for all my expenses in return." Mr Nik smiles. "That's good news. I must say I am rather surprised that he has received you so kindly." "Why?" Ruth frowns. "He rarely shows kindness. And he has never ever tolerated the presence of she wolves in his home before." "Unless she humans?" Ruth asks with a half smile. "Not even humans." "So, despite knowing that, Brian decided to invite me here?" she says incredulously. "Brian is actually the boss's favorite servant." Ruth marvels at his words. "If he treats his favorite servant like that, then I dread to think what the rest of you gets to be treated like." The man chuckles. "Actually, Brian always gets away with stuff most of us would be punished for, but today, for some reason, the boss overreacted with him." Did he overreact because of her presence? Ruth feels uncomfortable, and sorry for Brian. "Is he really going to spend the whole night on his knees?" "Yes. And it will not be the first time." How strong are they? Ruth wonders to herself. She couldn't last thirty minutes on her knees. "If he treats you so horribly, why are you all still with him? I'd find somewhere else to work." "He gives us incomparable salaries. He is a very generous man so we all just have to ignore his fiery temper." Ruth shakes her head in amazement. "I too desperately need his help at the moment but I am leaving at the first sign of abuse. I don't tolerate it. Where should I sleep?" She is shown to a guest room. It is painfully neat and clean just like the rest of the house. It is furnished with a bed and a small empty dresser, that's all. Staring longingly at the bed, Ruth nods at Mr Nik in thanks, a cue for him to leave her now. She is so tired that she doesn't have time to take a bath, going straight into bed after taking off her shoes. Her sleep, though heavy, is filled with troubled thoughts, often causing her to jerk awake with her heart pounding desperately and fear in her heart. It must be the change of environment, she thinks. She will get used to the change soon. What she refuses to believe is that she has missed her sister already. She just wants to hate her, make her suffer with anxiety for what she did to her. Her wolf tries to tell her that it is not good to cause stress for Lucea when she is pregnant, but Ruth shuts her up. Lucea is not even stressing. She is enjoying life as the Luna, taking delight in manipulating others because she is a damn super wolf. No, Lucea is too busy to worry about her. Ruth knows Lucea enough to understand that what she thinks about her isn't true, yet she tries hard to convince herself that her older sister doesn't care. How lonely it feels without her, though! It is the first time since birth that Ruth has been separated from her older sister. It is normal to feel that way because she has just arrived. Soon, she will get her bearings and forget about all the members of her previous pack. Her racing thoughts only calm down when it is early morning. She falls into a deep sleep, getting annoyed when someone comes in to wake her up. It is the old house keeper. "Just a few more minutes. I will find you," she says hoarsely without opening her eyes. "Miss, you need to get up. We have to start cleaning, and then go shopping for your school things. That's what the boss has said before he left." Her brain complains, wanting to sleep some more, but she has no choice but to get out of bed. She follows the man sluggishly, then listens to his instructions about how things are done to maintain cleanliness in the rented condo. When they finally finish cleaning up, Ruth feels like her back would break. She has never known real tiredness before. How is she going to keep up with this? She goes to her room after Mr Nik asks her to prepare to go shopping, but she falls asleep in the bathtub. When she is about to drown in the warm water, she jerks awake, remembering that she has to go shopping with Mr Nik. He isn't pleased by her lack of punctuality, but too kind to voice it. She is in the car when she thinks of something, deciding that it is harmless to ask about Sebastian. She just has to be careful how she asks about it. "Mr Nik, you are a werewolf," she says, watching as a puzzled look appears in the man's face. He is probably wondering why she feels the need to remind him of that. "Yes, I am a werewolf." "I seem remember when I was younger, a werewolf Prince had come to our pack, and if my memory serves me right, he had said that he lived in this country. Have you ever heard of him?" "What's his name?" Mr Nik asks. Are there other werewolf Princes apart from Sebastian? "I... don't think I remember his name. It's been so long," she lies. The thought of anyone finding out that she came to Malaysia because of Sebastian is scary. She would be embarrassed to the core if anyone figured it out. "There's no way I am going to tell you if I know someone whose name I haven't been told." "All I remember is that he is an Alpha Prince, and he has special powers that only the luckiest wolves get to have..." "Oh, you must be talking about Prince Sebastian."
