Chapter 9

1123 Words
Katelyn’s POV I don’t know why I kept thinking about what happened in the cafeteria today. Ryan had said he wanted Caroline to date Caroline, to make her his girlfriend. I felt frustrated as I couldn’t shake it off, no matter how much I tried to concentrate in class, and even with friends' discussions, I couldn’t push it away. Why Caroline? Why would he choose her out of all the girls admiring him, and somehow I wished it was me, but he is my stepbrother, and to add it all, I wouldn’t date him. Caroline was beautiful, in fact, she seems to be the most pretty girl I have come across in school and is well desired, but she has Jerry, who is more or less her boyfriend, although she hasn’t accepted his proposal to be his girl yet. “Katelyn!” Kelly called out my name for the one hundredth time and it pulled me out of my thoughts. I glanced at her and blinked. “Yes…” “What are you doing? The final bell has just rung, we are dismissed, let’s go home.” She told me and I glanced around to find that the class was almost empty. My eyes quickly darted to Ryan’s desk and it was empty. I rolled my eyes and nodded to Kelly who was already taking her bag from the desk. I took mine and stood up, leaving the classroom. I didn’t care if Ryan had left without me, he did it earlier today, and I don’t think I would ever ride with him to school again. I walked down the hallway and my eyes caught that of Michael, the star of the football team. He was walking towards us with his friend, he smiled broadly when his friends said something, and I couldn’t help but freeze as I stared at his handsome smile. I suspect Kelly was staring me and smiling too. She knew I had had a crush on Michael for years but couldn’t bring myself to confess my feelings to him, whereas, he is a senior and I rarely see him, but I never miss his matches. He is so popular among girls that I doubt he would ever notice me with the girls swirling around him, he has broad shoulder, and from what I learnt about him, he is a gentleman, one that is every girl's dream girl, but hard to attain. I knew I wouldn’t be able to talk to him, no matter how famous I was in school, he didn’t seem to see me, I was more like I did not exist in his world. As he walked past him, I couldn’t help but think his eyes met mine, but it was all my imaginations as he walked passed me like I was never there. I turned my eyes, following him with my gaze, until he was out of sight with his friends, disappearing down the hallway. I exhaled sharply and when I turned, I noticed Kelly’s expression, she was wiggling her brows with a smile plastered on he face. “What?” I rolled my eyes trying to adjust my bag. “If you love him why don’t you just confess your feelings for him? You have had this crush ever since you came to this school, so give it a shot…” “Nah…” I quickly shook my head, interrupting her as I walked ahead and she followed beside me. “I would rather have him notice me, I won’t chase after the---“ Immediately my words were caught up in my throat as I saw a scene I never should have witnessed. Kelly noticed the way I stopped abruptly and she traced my gaze to see him, Ryan, standing next to the locker room by the hallway, his hand wrapped around the waist of a blonde girl, perhaps one of his admirers, his lips pressed down on her lips as he made out with her and I couldn’t help but curl my hand into fist. What is his damn problem with blonde girls and why the heck is he attracted to them? I don’t know why, but right now I feel my blooding in my veins, just one day, just one day of being in school and he is already showing how naughty he could be, how can he want to make Caroline his girlfriend while he makes out with another girl? I couldn’t tell if I was angry or jealous, all I wanted to do was to go over there and tear them apart, for the girl’s sake since my stepbrother was the last person she should fall or flirt with. He is more like a scumbag to me and I take back all the lovely things I thought about him. “Isn’t that Rachael?” Kelly asked, looking at the girl’s face and the sound of her voice made Ryan to look in our direction. He slowly parted his lips from Rachael’s lips and I saw a thin smile spread along his lips. I shook my head slowly in disbelieve and Rachael smiled and wanted to lean forward for more kisses, but Ryan turned his face at us again and she traced his gaze and met ours, then she slowly leaned forward and whispered something in his ears, something that made Ryan chuckle and stare in my direction again. I couldn’t tell what they were saying, but I felt they were talking about me. Rachael leaned back and waved Ryan. “See you tomorrow handsome.” She winked at him and walked over to us. “Kelly, Katelyn,” She said softly, a smile plastered on her lips before walking past us. I rolled my eyes and turned my gaze to Asher only to see him instantly wipe his mouth with the back of his hand as if he has kissed something forbidden, and I couldn’t help but furrow my brows, why kiss her when you would find it disgusting. Ryan picked his bag up and I turned quickly to leave, tired of seeing his face and seeing enough that would make me angry, but before I could move further, his voice came almost immediately. “Hey, Katelyn.” He called out and I halt, what gave him the gut to call my name after what he did earlier today, as if that wasn’t enough, he quickly added. “Let’s go home, I will give you a ride.” He added and I turned around with my hand balled into fist, all I wanted to do was smack the smirk on his face and make sure he never use that lips again, to speak or to kiss anyone in his entire life.
