I Saved To Be Saved?

"Tomorrow I'll be joining your practice." Leinard said while pouring some ale in my glass.

"But, whose gonna take care of this?" I asked.

"My uncle Bert will retire from the guild, I'm expecting him to be here tomorrow morning." He replied.

I take a sip of the ale Leinard served me. I can taste apple in my tounge and a bitter sweet after taste of it. Now I know why this inn is always busy.

"Are you sure you'll give Gwyn you're 'PRECIOUS' whip?" Pia jokingly said.

Leinard sighed. "Yes ofcourse. Ever since we're little that whip always drain my magic." He run his hand thru his hair, "But Gwyn used it without any trouble." He added. At first, he really creeped me out because of the way he look at me, but I guess that's how he observe people he meet. They continued chatting and talk about their childhood memories.

I wonder how is it going in the real world. Do they miss me? Are they looking for me? I'm sure dad won't bother to ask if I'm alright. He didn't even attend my graduation ceremony, and arrived late on the celebration. I always work hard for him to appreciate me. I'm also his child! But I guess he love Kyle more than me. Well, don't get me wrong. I love my brother and we're very close to each other. I don't hold any hard feelings against him. Besides, he's the only one who understands me, because sometimes even Drew gets tired with all of my dramas but whenever we got little fights, he will always be the first one to apologize. That's how our relationship lasted for four years. But lately, he's becoming cold, and he doesn't breath a word about it. I don't want to ask him about it, because I believe, if he want to tell me, eventually he will.

"Irritating! You are all irritating!"

I heard a faint small voice. I start to look around.

"Irritating. I'm irritated!" The small faint voice shouted. I turned my head left and right, up and down as I attempt to look for it. "Hey, what's wrong?" Leinard asked.

"I heard a small voice. A faint voice it's kinda husky though." I said.

"Really? We didn't hear any." Pia replied.

"the ale got you already? Haha!" She added.

Am I the only one who heard it? But I'm sure I didn't drink too much ale.

"Haha! No, I'm not yet drunk. Maybe it was just an imagination." I smiled. But I'm sure I heard it. Er, this world is crazy. Sigh. I grab the glass of ale and drink it straight. Arghh! It hurts my throat.

"Ah! The Ale is delicious Leinard." I said and stood up. "I'll go the market and walk for a bit." Pia and Leinard agreed and I take my leave. I close the door behind me.

I walk slowly to observe the town. In terms of environment, the pollution here is zero percent. You can even drink straight from their river. Unlike in my world, the river is turning to black that if you try to drink from it you should write your suicide note. There's no factories or cars here so the air is very clean with of course minimal smoke from cigarettes and woods that they used for cooking.

"Excuse me lady!" The man shouted. I move slightly to the left to avoid him. He's carrying a two full load basket of carrots. They're using a thick wood stick to carry the basket, hanging on both end of the stick. As I walk further, I see that they use that stick to transport their products. They should at least use a wagon.

I look around to see if there's any wagon there. But I failed to see any. I continued walking, and I saw an old man resting under a tree. Maybe I should approach him and suggest him the wagon.

"Good morning, old man." I greeted with a smile.

"Good morning lady." He replied. I come closer and sit beside him.

"Are you a farmer?" I politely asked.

"Yes I am. I've been farming since I am a kid. This is the only job I can do because my magic is too weak and I can't even fly." He said while slightly laughing. "I am old and weak, my body can't carry as much loads like before but I should work harder for my grandchild so I can send him to school and learn to strenghten his powers, so that he'll never experience the same fate as mine."

He's eyes were on the ground, and the sweat is dripping on his face. I look into his eyes and I can clearly see his exhaustion. You know, I am too soft for old people, I mean our grandmother and grandfather, they love us more than their own child. They spoil us with everything we want, and they will be always on our side if our parents is scolding us.

"Why don't you use wagon?" I asked.

"Wagon? What's that? I don't have magic to create that."

"Uhm... No, you don't have to use magic to make one..." "Wagon is uhm, it's a thing that will carry your goods. It has two big wheels or four wheels on the lower corner of the wood box. You just have to push it to move." I struggle to explain about it, because I'm not good with describing anything!

He looked at me then smile then he stand, "I would like to have that, but I don't know how to make one, and beside I'm too old to create something I don't know. All I can do is to farm in Pedulak village." He said. "See you next time, lady!" He walk away while carrying the baskets. I also start walking again.

I get it now, that's why Leinard said that life in that village is tough. Not everyone in this world have powers, but why they let the weak live near where the monsters reside? They should be protected equally with those wealthy people. Everyone has the right to feel safe even if you don't have money. I can't imagine how people in Pedulak village sleep with fear of dying at night. As a visitor of this world, it may sound heroic but I want to help them.

"Irritating!" I'm hearing this voice again.

"Irritating! All of you is annoying!" The voice become much more louder than earlier. I look around to see who owns that irritating voice to shut him up with a slap.

"Hey beautiful lady!" A lady merchant appeared in front of me. "This belt bag will help you to store that." Then she shift her sight on my whip, and quickly look at me again. "Buy this belt for just 4 bronze and 1 silver." She come closer to me and whispered, "it's the cheapest belt bag here hehe" and she flashed the widest smile she can.

"I can carry this like this." I said.

"Oh? You're not afraid of the looters? May I remind you that once you lost your ownership of that whip you can't take that back by force or even if you beg. Someone else should duel the looters to take that again." She said while her hands were both on her waist.

"Really? That's harsh." I replied. "I want to buy it but I have no money"

"Tch! What a waste of time. You people of Pedulak have the guts to wonder around here. Useless villagers." She blurted and go back to her stall.

How can I have money? Should I ask Leinard for a job? I take a deep sigh. "Even inside this world I'm broke!" I continued walking. Dad always cut my allowance short that's why I have to do part-time jobs. Even if I won my kendo tournaments, he never congratulate me maybe because he don't want me to join that club to begin with. He always tell me to quit the club and start focusing on my study even if I don't have failing grades. It frustrates me that I don't know why he hate me that much. Not even mom or Kyle tell me the reason why.

"AAAHHHHH!!!!" that shout echoed throughout the town. I run straight down the road. When I arrive at the place where the loud shout came from, the stalls and houses there were destroyed. When I turn my head on my right, I saw a giant spider-like monster. It has a six legs and eight eyes. Its body is hairy and the monster is nine feet tall. The monster grab the little girl that is hiding behind a tree.

"Rose! Help me! Somebody please help my child!" The woman beside me pleaded. She's the merchant who offered me belt bag.

"I will save her." I bravely responded.

I run as fast as I can. My heart is beating with fear and uncertainty. I don't know if I can take that one by myself. I launched my self and fly. At full speed, I reached the monster then struck it with my whip on its legs

"Irritating!" The monster shouted, but its voice is a mix of voice of an old-man and a child and a typical voice of a monster.

Once again, I tried to inflict its legs that's holding the kid, but the monster manage to avoid. I dash closer to it but suddenly it spit a thick green-colored liquid that looks like a vommit, I fly sideward to dodge it. My eyes followed where will that thing will land, unfortunately, the house melted when that liquid hit the house. "A poison?!" I exclaimed. Good thing I dodged it or else I'll be literally a drop-dead-gorgeous.

"Annoying! All of you!" "Look at mm-me! Look at me! A-annoying!" The monster keep on repeating those words.

I have to save the kid!

I charge again toward the monster and hit it's eye.

"Yes!" I shouted. To manage to hit the monster gave me satisfaction. Excitement rush into my blood. I swing my whip and struck him on his body. Blood spurts whenever I have him inflicted. The kid fell to the ground when I slashed one of the monster's leg. I sprint toward the kid.

"Ahh!" The monster got me flying and hit the ground when it kick me. I stood up as soon as I gain my balance. I look at the kid and she's unconscious, unable to run. My legs were burning with pain. I fly again and whipped the monster to it's eyes. It cries in agony. I run to where the kid was lying. The monster began to walk again toward the kid.

"I must hurryyyy." I tried to run as fast as I can but my right leg is wounded. The monster is getting nearer. I hit the rock near him while I run to create a smokescreen. I finally reached to the where the kid was. I take her and fly. But the monster reached me with his leg and hit me. Both the kid and I fell to the ground. My ribs. I broke my ribs.

"Aaaaahhh!" I shouted in pain. I can't move in pain but I have to create a barrier to save this kid. I breath slowly to lessen the pain, but the pain is getting more intense. The monster toward us, so I have to create a barrier now. I tried to rise up with my left hand supporting my body. I kneel my right knee and bend my left legs then I put my right hand on the ground. The barrier starts to form and the monster is getting closer. My barrier is too weak it has a pale violet color. "No. No. Y-yo-you have to arrgghhh be tough." I said while trying to catch my breath. The monster is here. He is swing his legs and destroyed my barrier.

I crawl closer to the kid and cover my body to her tiny body. This child should live.

"Irritating! Annoying!" The monster shouted. It's about to charge in us. I closed my eyes and accept my defeat.

Anticipating the hard blow, I didn't receive any. When I look to the monster, I saw a man slashed the monster's neck with his two sword.

"Irritating! I hate you!" The monster shouted with its last breath.

I tried to look who come to my rescue, but the sun is blinding me. My eyesight is getting blurred, and my eyes feels heavy. Then I lost consciousness.

I was awaken by the chirping of the birds. I sit in my bed and look outside the window, the sun is about to rise. I took a deep sigh.

"Wait... How did I?" "I have a broken rib and a wounded legs..." I said in confusion. Despite of the injuries I've got, I feel alright and I can breath easily.

"What happened?" I remove the blanket on my body to check my legs but there's no trace of any scratches or wounds. The door was opened,

"You're finally awake." Pia greeted.

"How long have I been sleeping?"

"Two days."

"TWO DAYS?!" I shouted. She laughed.

"What kind of reaction was that? Of course you're seriously injured because of your 'HEROIC ACT' and you almost died." She said.

"The kid? Where's the kid?"

"Oh the kid you're trying to save?"

I nod.

"Thanks to you she's alive and Leinard healed her." Pia reported. "Leinard healed you too, you should thank him later." She added.

"Yes, I will."

Thanks to Leinard, I'm still alive. Yeah right! Someone saved me. Who's that?

"Pia..." She stopped and look at me, "do you know the man who killed the monster?" I asked.

She continue to neat her bed, "according to the town's people, Captain Aeshi arrived and killed the monster, but they aren't sure because it fly as soon as the monster died. So yeah, I'm not sure either. Leinard and I arrived when the battle is already over." She said.

"Aeshi?" I whispered.

"If you feel better today, you can join our practice later. See you." Pia said and leave the room.

If ever that is Captain Aeshi, I should look for him and thank him personally. I owe him my life.
