Show Me Your Light Part 1

“Is that what you've all got?” Leinard shouted while trying to keep standing on his feet and taking heavy breaths.

“Of course not!” Pia replied. She fly toward Leinard at a great speed. Leinard point his wand to Pia with his right hand, placing his left hand on his arms as if trying to control the powers that will run through his veins.

"Creation magic: Raining Rocks!” He shouted. A blinding light appeared on the tip of his wand. Big rocks start to rain down on Pia. She fly left and right, trying to dodge every rock that falls.

“Are you really trying to kill me, Bastard?!” Pia yelled as she struggle to dodge. Some of them manage to hit Pia.

“No!” He replied, laughing. “ I just want to know if I can still do this.” He added.

I sit on the grass under the apple tree as I watch them fight. Pia is trying again to come closer to Leinard, because of course, her weapon is for close combat compared to Leinard's weapon, which is convenient for mid-range to long-range fighting, I am 85 percent sure that Pia might lose to Leinard today. Pia is coming closer to him as she dodge the big rocks. She finally did it. Pia went behind him, put his left arm behind him, Pia place her dagger on Leinard’s neck.

“Wow!” I whispered.

Leinard’s eyes were widened in shock and he didn't move an inch.

He smiled. “Nothing really beats your agility.” Leinard said. Then Pia released him. They noticed me and wave their hands. I wave back to respond. They are chatting while walking on my way.

It must’ve been tough for Pia, she keep on smiling even if she’s hurting inside. Maybe it’s tough for her to live on her own. If I was in her situation, it will be hard for me to at least smile. I remembered, when dad scolded me in front of my friends when I'm 14, I can’t help but to cry. Whenever I feel hurt, I can’t suppress my tears. But Pia? For me she's strong. I wish I was like her.

“How are you feeling, Gwyn? Do you feel any pain?” Leinard asked. I stand up and dust off my pants.

“Thanks to you! I feel better today.” I smilingly replied. “So... Shall we continue our training?” I asked.

“Yes! Come on.” Pia replied.

We run to our mini battle grass-field.

Today is the day. The Scouting Day. I feel somehow, excited and anxious at the same time... I mean, what kind of life is waiting for me there inside the Yashot town? I barely know this place, and the people here. Not to mention those monsters that I have to kill. Argh! I slapped myself to get a grip in the reality. Pia was all set when I wake up, she’s sitting in her bed and looking melancholically on her daggers. Maybe she’s thinking of her parents.

I jumped out of the bed and sit beside Pia.

“Hey! Aren’t you excited today?” I asked.

“Yes I’m excited! I’ve been waiting for this for 9 nine years...” she replied.

“If you’re excited, let’s go the Capitol already! Leinard is waiting for us downstairs.” I said. We take our bag made out of flour sack then leave the room.

Downstairs, Leinard is sitting while waiting for us . Then he looked on our way.

“Finally!” he rolled his eyes. “Girls are too slow to prepare, really.”

“Duh! I have to double check if I forget something or not. Unlike the one guy I know, who constantly forget to wear his underwear!’” Pia said teased Leinard. Yikes.

He covered Pia's mouth with his hand, “Shut up you fool! I'll kill you!” he said.

“Argh! Let go!” Pia bit his hand. Leinard shouted in pain. “Ouch! Ouch!” I laughed.

I want to spend more time with them. Even if I’m not really from this world, I guess, soon, I will fight for them risking my own life. I hope in my real world, someone will do the same for me.

“Okay, okay. You kids should hurry to the Capitol now. Unless you’re not interested in joining a guild.”

A man in his 40’s said. He is 6 feet tall, tanned skin, black undercut hair, his eyes are like Leinard’s, and the long slanted scar on his face from his eyebrow down to his cheeks. People says that a warrior’s pride is not found on their titles, but found on their battle scars. More scars means more tough battles.

“Yes Uncle Bert! Please take care of this inn. I’m counting on you. We’re going now. Bye!” Leinard said and we leave the inn at once. Pia and Leinard was walking ahead of me, and I'm fine with i. Actually for me, it is better to walk behind my friends, and it doesn't even matter if they are not including me in their pep talks. I'm happy to walk with them. Even in my real world, I love seeing my friends in front of me. That way, I know and I will see if they are going to leave me. Ha! Enough of this. Thinking about them just makes me sad. I hope they're doing great.

"You okay there?" Pia asked.

"Yeah. Just walk ahead." I replied. Now, if you wonder why don't we just fly if the Capitol is far, well, FYI, it's hella draining my energy! Just so you know, even in real life, my body is weak, I cannot believe that the heavens didn't let me have a MORE stronger body. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm really that weak. I even joined Karate, Taekwondo, and Kendo in my school to at least enhance my physical strenght. Okay, I'm an Anemic girl with an hormonal imbalance, and diagnosed with depression 1. Yeah! Life is good. I'm such a good-for-nothing entity in the real world. I hope I can change my fate here, or change myself while I'm finding a way to go back to the real world.

Argh, my feet is starting to feel numb and Sun heat's killing me.

"We're almost there." Leinard said. Me and Pia's face straightened when we saw the big wood gate. There are plenty of people marching toward the big open door, that I didn't notice because I am too focused on walking. These people must be a trainees or an aspirants, or a captain, or someone who's very powerful than Leinard and Pia. We continued walking toward the big gate.

Behind this big gate, is a big arena. This must be where all the warriors were trained. I can't help myself but to admire this ancient looking building. I only see this kind of architectural designs in History textbooks, on the internet when I browse about the Greek gods and goddesses. I can't believe this! I can't this of anything magical than this! When you look up, you'll see a magical barriers that envelopes the whole arena and serves as tge roof of this building. At the center is a fountain, but not the typical fountain like I have in my world. I walk closer to it. The fountain is surrounded by a steel rail with an engraved word "Selyado ng kapangyarihan ng Kataas-taasan"

"No one is allowed to touch or go near this fountain. Please step back." Said the stern looking guy, probably a guard. I step back like what he said. "Yeah! Hehe. Sorry." I replied.

"I have to go back to Pia and Leinard, the assembly will probably start any minute now." People keep on coming and this place became pretty much crowded. Now I lost sight of Pia and Leinard. What a pain in the ass! I start walking and looking at the face of every person here.

"Pia! Pia!" "Leinard!" I shouted. What else should I expect? Of course people will look at me. Oh my dignity, please don't ever leave me huhuhu.

"What's with that girl?" The girl on my left corner whispered.

"I don't know! And look at her clothes..."

"What kind of clothing is that?"

For sure they are talking about me. Sigh. I never thought that a T-shirt with a dog print will catch too much attention here. This was the last and only clothes that I have here. A white shirt with a Siberian Husky print, a tattered jeans, and a pair of black Converse. My get-up is much more simpler than their almost anime costumes! But still, this OOTD catch their attention. Sigh. I hang my head low. I hate to be the topic of any gossip. No one want it ofcourse.

"Hey! That's Captain Aeshi."

I heard the loud whispers of everyone.

"He's so dreamy!" Group of girls murmured.

I look at him as he pass by. He was with a group, that I think was his guild members. They walk proudly, not shifting their eyes in any directions. My eyes were fixed on Captain Aeshi. They were right. He's so dreamy. He has a deep brown monolid-eyes that compliments his thick flat eyebrows, a salt-face shape. Yeah 'coz he basically looks like a living anime character. His fair skin and flawless face amplify his thin pinkish lips and his small pointed nose. His hair is a wavy mid-lenght hair. He looks like a prince. But yeah, Drew looks better. I should not let my heart fall for someone else, because for sure he'll do the same. Oh! I forgot. I should thank Captain Aeshi for saving me back then. He already pass me by so I have to call him. I took a deep breath and gulped. I slowly turn around and call him.

"Captain Aeshi!" I shouted but maybe he didn't heard it.

"CAPTAIN AESHI!" I shouted more loudly. His troops stopped as well as him. I didn't just caught his attention, but all the people near us stopped and looked at me with the what-the-hell-is-her-problem look on their face. But at leaset, Captain Aeshi noticed me then I run toward him. I don't care whatever they're might be thinking right now, I just need to thank him.

"Cap..." I catch my breath first, "Captain Aeshi, uhm, I just want to say thank you for saving me and the little girl. Thank you very much!" I said and bow happily. Before I can raise my head he said, "I don't know what you're talking about. Out of my way."

Eh? I raised my head and stopped him from walking.

"Remember the big spider-looking monster that's shouting 'ANNOYING!' and 'IRRITATING'? Don't you remember?" So basically, I look stupid here. He was just looking at me and he doesn't even look interested with answering me!

"Let go." He said and I swiftly let go of his hands. "Do you remember?" I asked one more time.

"No, I don't." He replied and then he leave. Oh crap, everyone is looking and talking about me.

I saw Pia and Leinard running towards me. "Gwyn," Pia panted. "What happened?" She asked.

"Uhm, well, I tried to talk to Captain Aeshi and--"

"Captain Aeshi? Oh no, I told you that we weren't sure if that man you're talking about was really Captain Aeshi."

"Why does it looks like that it's a big deal to talk to him? He was quiet famous too huh" I chuckled.

"Yeah he is famous, and I was surprised that he didn't roast you with his thunders." Leinard said.

"Starting from now Gwyn, be cautious and mindful of your actions. It's not like all the time we're here to protect you. Okay?" Pia said.

"Yes." I smiled.

A loud ringing of a church bell resounded in the whole arena. People start to gather and line up in front of 10 stone pillars. Pia, Leinard, and I followed everyone. Captain Aeshi stood up in front of everyone on the stage. Maybe he is the facilitator of this event.

"Good day courageous youths of Juwoni Kingdom. Before we proceed with the actual training, today as part of the screening test, you have to pass through the Zoe Pillars. Those pillar in front of you will determine whether you're eligible to be part of the training or not. If the pillar gives off red light, you passed. But if the pillars gives off white light, your magic and skills are too weak. You may now start."

The atmosphere suddenly feels heavy, everyone was praying hard to pass the screening.

"Hey Leinard..." I whispered. He was in front of me in the line. "What will happen if I fail the screening?" I asked.

"You will be sent home and suffer the humiliation. You will be the topic of the town. And... you might not be able to pass the selection again." He whispered back.

The line start moving. The Zoe Pillar emits red, sometimes, pink or faded red, and white. Some of them cries, and some them jumped in joy. Someone is happily having their chitchatting in the third line in my right. I looked at them and saw a guy with a silver hair, a tanned skin with a wide lips, wearing a white linen robe and brown baggy pants. He is looking proud and at ease together with his friends. He might be powerful that's why he has no worries. His friend tapped his shoulder to remind him that it's his turn. I carefully watch him as he walk pass through the pillar. The pillar emits dark red light. Everyone was shocked and you can hear woah all over the place. That was the first dark red light that we have seen. It's Leinard's turn now. He clenched his fists and walk to the pillars. It emits bright red color. He smiled at me, "you can do it." He said. Now it is my turn. I don't know if I'm going to make it but I hope that I pass. My hands starting to sweat, and my heart feels like it's going to leave my body. I walk to the pillar and then the pillar emits a faint red color, almost carnation pink. "Did I pass?" I nervously asked a gorgeous looking lady in front of me.

"Yes. You barely pass." She replied with a smile on her face. The other pillar on my right side gives off dark red light. The second one to have that kind of light. Then someone grabbed my arms.

"Let me guide you to the waiting area." A man in a blue robe said. I walk and followed the man. We entered the waiting room. Inside the room is a bunch of happy teenagers who passed the exam. Then the man closed the door behind me.

"Gwyn!" Leinard shouted. He wave his hand and he was sitting with a group of people. I walk toward their table.

"I'm glad you passed." Leinard said. I sit on the wooden chair beside Leinard.

"So, what kind of light does yoir pillar gives off?" A girl with a pixie red hair asked and her cat like eyes looks so excited to know, and also her voice sounds very energetic and excited.

"Uhm, well, it gives off light red color." I embarrassedly replied that I cannot look on their faces.

"Oh really? Don't worry, at least you passed. You still have the chance to enhance your skills here." A tall chubby man said. "I'm Bon" he added.

"Hi, I'm Gwyn."

"And I'm Kit." The pixie-haired girl said and then she hugged me. They laugh and I laughed awkwardly.

"Hi nice to meet yo—" and then the proud boy from earlier come to us.

"Losers always sticks together huh?" He said. Everyone became serious. No laugh. No smiles. I feel like I'm stuck between life and death situation now. Somebody help me! I can feel the tension between them.

"We have no time for you big nosed jerk." Bon said. Woah! I can feel the their powers were being intensified.

"Eh? You got some nerves fatty commoner." He laughed. "And you Leinard, you are a noble, you know better." He added. Leinard just ignored him and look somewhere else silently. Kit stand up and stand beside that guy.

"Hey, hey, Denver. Don't you think that's rude to say?" Kit said while squishing her head in that Denver guy arms.

"Hey go away!" Denver is trying to push away Kit but she's clinging too tight. Honestly, they look like childhood friends and not enemies. But I guess the tables have turned.

"Seriously? Go away you filthy bastard!" Denver exclaimed. Kit let go of him and she fly encircling him. Kit was smiling while fying and releasing some glittery power dust. Denver aimed at Kit with his hands and released water.

"Water Magic: Tidal s***h!" Denver shouted. A slashes of water hits the wall of the room, trying to hit Kit but when the water was sprinkled with Kit's glittery dust, it turns to Ice.

Now, the whole room is a mess. Some make a barrier to protect themselves, trying not to butt in on their fight. Pia entered the room. "WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?!" She shouted and run towards me.

"Uh, I don't know. They just start fighting." I replied. It will be a long explanation if I narrate the whole problem with the hot-tempered dude. I saw the girl who had the same dark red light like Denver, standing cross-arm beside the window, looking uninterested with the chaos. Then the door was slammed open.

"STUPID WEAKLINGS! LINE UP!" The man I think in his 30's exclaimed. Everyone gathered and line up. Denver and Kit stopped fighting and line up silently. Everyone stand straight. So maybe this man is strict and brutal, I guess.

"Out of 1,083 people that came here today, only 479 of you passed. Considering the fact that we lowered our passing rate, still the only few of you passed. Some of you got a light red light from the Zoe pillars, and some of you got dark red light, and some of you got the standard light, everyone will be trained depending on their innate powers. After the 100 days training you will be assigned to a guild. Now if you are all ready follow me." He said.

"Yes Captain Ralph!" Everyone shouted. Then we were led to another big room.
