What Suits Me Best

I have no other choice here. I have to continue living here and start to do everything to protect Pia and to survive. As hard as I think, I don't know what really happened to me, how did I end up waking up in this world. I don't even remember the reason why I got hit by a bus. All I can remember is, before that accident, I'm going to surprise Drew in his office. I take a deep breath. "Maybe I can spare some time thinking about this after training."

This grassy scenery was very relaxing. You can see the mountains on the horizon.

"Are you ready?" Pia asked. Oh! I almost forgot that we went here to train. I nod in agreement.

"But Pia, I don't know what power do I have and I don't even know how to fly."

"Hmm.." she placed her fingers on her chin. Thinking hard. "Let's try to see how far your barrier can go. It seems like that barrier is your first power to awaken." She said.

Maybe that's the best step to know my ability, at least to strenghten my barrier if ever that's the only power that I have. I should trust myself. "What should I do?" I asked.

"Okay. First, concentrate. Think of creating a barrier like what you did last night."

Breath in. Breath out. I close my eyes.

How should I do that? A violet colored light encircling me. That's how I remember the barrier I made last night. I close my eyes harder. Barrier. Barrier. Barrier!

"Try to make your fighting position and think of how you'll summon a barrier." Pia suggested. I opened my eyes and look at Pia.

"Fighting position? Like Sailormoon?" Naruto? Like them?" I tried to stand on my one foot and put my left hand on my left waist and do a peace sign with my right hand then pout my lips. "Look at me" "like this form?" I jokingly said. She almost choked from her saliva. She laugh so hard.

"Haha! What are you doing?" She said. "You know what Gwyn, I don't know those people you mentioned, but sure you got a weird fighting position." She continue laughing. "Now Gwyn, try again." She said calmly.

Once again, I have to be serious about this training. "Okay! I'll do this!" I shouted. I calm myself. Closing both my eyes will help me focus. Right. I have to think of a position.

I bend down on my right knee with my right hand on the ground. Silence. I can feel the burning sensation running in my veins. This is it! This is it!

I opened my eyes and stand. "I did it!" I said. "Look Pia! I did it" my heart was filled with joy. I can't believe that I really do have power in this world. But then Pia suddenly run toward me with her dagger.

"Hey Pia what are you doi—" I take a small step backward. Why does she attacking me all of a sudden?

Pia slashed my barrier.

"Why did you break my barrier?!" I shouted.

"You see, your barrier is so weak unlike the one you make last night, even my dagger can break through it. A weak monster can break it easily as well." Pia stated.

I want to get mad at her but she's right. Compared to the last barrier I made, the color of my barrier is much lighter than the last one. "Tch, let's try another one." I suggested.

Again, I fall on my right knee, and put my right hand on the ground. I need a strong barrier. Please give me one. I can feel the burning sensation again from my feet rushing to my fingers. Suddenly, the wind blow and a light appeared around me creating a purple-colored barrier at least 7 feet high. Pia started running toward me again. She slashed my barrier but she failed. The impact blew her away but she managed to land on her feet.

"That's it, Gwyn! Way to go!" She shouted. She looks happy for me. I smiled. I calm myself to weaken the barrier, then the barrier slowly disappear.

I walk toward Pia. "So, what's next?" I asked.

"Seriously, your barrier looks beautiful and powerful! I wish can make barriers too." She said. "Maybe that way I can save my parents"

"What? Sorry I can't hear you. You speak too soft hehe." I said.

"Nothing." She replied. "Let's try to fly. Come on" she added.

"How can I fly? Do I need a fighting position? Or form? Mindset?" I asked.

She chuckled. "Hey hey, take it easy Gwyn. Just launch yourself up to the sky. Like this..." Then she jumped up to the sky and she's in the mid-air.

"Just move your body to your desired direction." She shouted while flying.

She's flying like a bird. I want to fly too. I don't have the chance to fly in the real world and if ever I fly, the Scientists will just buy me to my parents for an experimental study. Or I'll be in the news and be labeled as an Alien or a demon. This thought makes me laugh.

"Gwyn!"

I looked up to Pia.

"Try to fly." She said.

Inhale. Exhale. I launch my body upward. My body is floating.

"Higher, Gwyn. Higher!" Pia shouted.

"Yes." I replied. I tried to push myself upward once again.

"Woah woah woah!!!" I'm loosing my balance in the air. "Aaaahh!" I turned upside down. Pia flew toward me, laughing. "Help me!" I beg.

"You can do it! Just move your body toward your desired place and position."

I strugle to lift my body. Arrrgh! This is frustrating. I'm soaked in swear right now. Little by little, I finally manage to fly upright

"Yey!" I shout in victory.

"Now, try to go there." Pia commanded as she points an apple tree on our west. I faced the west side and start to go against the wind. "I'm flying!" I said. I can't belive this! I'm flying. I wish I have my phone working right now to take a recording. Sigh.

I finally reached the apple tree.

"Good job, Gwyn! Are you sure that you don't know this world?" Pia asked.

"Yeah. I lived in Manila, Philippines. You see, in my world magic don't work. There's no magic there. We can't fly, only birds and airplanes can fly." I said.

"Airplanes? What kind of creature is that?"

"It's a vehicle used for transportation. For example, you want to go to another kingdom, but that kingdom is awfully far. Just ride an airplane and you will travel in the air. And take note! Airplane is a verrrrry big vehicle." I explained. While I'm explaining, Pia's eyes were glistening. It's like she's so interested with what I say.

"You have that in your world?"

"Yes."

"Wooww! That's awesome. Can you take me to your world someday?" She asked while holding my hands.

"Yes, ofcourse!" I replied. Her eyes widened and she smiled brightly.

"Hooray!" She hugged me. "Thank you!" She said.

"Hey! Hey! Let go. We're gonna fall." I replied while laughing and finally lose control.

We both fall to the ground.

"Ouch!" I scream. Rub my butt to ease the pain.

"Okay. Let's figure out what kind of weapon that will suit your fighting style." Pia said. I followed her as she walk back to our Inn.

"Leinard where did you hid your weapons?" Pia asked. Leinard is busy serving beers to his customers. His inn got a lot of costumer.

"Huh? And what will you do?" Leinard replied while struggling to lift the wood container of beer.

"I'll help Gwyn determine the perfect weapon for her." Pia replied. Leinard suddenly stopped and look at us.

"It's in the warehouse inside a chest. Just take care of my babies." Leinard replied. Then he went back to his work.

"Come on Gwyn". We leave the inn and walk straight to the warehouse behind the inn. The door of the warehouse is on the ground. Pia opened it. Behind a wooden door is a stairs. Pia enter first and I followed. It doesn't took us long time to reach the next door. I twisted the knob and push the door open. It's pit black inside. The sunlight didn't reach the room. We walk inside the room, and Pia light up a torch beside her. The fire lighten the room. We start looking for the chest.

I wipe the sweat in my face. 5 minutes already passed since we start searching and I'm not fond of searching for too long!

"Ah! Here it is." Pia found the chest. I walked closer to her and the weapons are neatly arranged.

"Why does Leinard have these weapons?" I asked.

"Well, Leinard skipped the training last year, the council gave him the permission because his father died and he have to run their business. His father is a former warrior captain who retired when he married Leinard's mother. He might join us in our daily training to condition his body." Pia stated. "He really waited for this time— when he can join the training and be a warrior." She added. I thought Leinard is just an ordinary citizen here.

"Oh, is that so?" I asked. Pia just smiled. "Uhm, care to explain the difference of these weapons? Hehe." I said.

"Let's talk about that outside. Help me carry this chest."

We carry the chest outside. The chest is very heavy and I almost s**t out of it. We finally arrived at the area where we practice earlier. We both sighed in exhaustion. Pia opened the chest.

"Now, to find the right weapon for you; pick one, and if you feel that some of your power is rushing toward your hands, that's it." She explained.

I put my eyes on the weapons. I first grab the metallic bow. "Where's the arrows?" I asked.

"You will create your own arrows with your powers..." "Only people with a blood of Nobles can create an arrow."

I put down the arrow. "I guess that one is not for me." I said. Then i picked the two daggers, but this is so heavy! I put back back the daggers inside the chest. I pant. "How come those knives are so heavy?!" I said. "And you? You seemed to use it without any trouble. How come?" I added.

"Hmmm... Maybe because you lack physical strenght." Pia replied, laughing.

I picked up the wand.

I can feel the power rushing toward my hand. "Pia! I-I can f-feel it! The power!" I excitedly reported.

"Woah! Woah! Okay" she took breath. "Think of anything you want to release with the wand."

Fire? Lightning? Wind? What should I do? I feel like I'm Harry Potter. Okay Gwyn. Calm down. That's it! Water. I raise up the wand and point it on the tree.

"Water!" I shouted.

Droplet.

Our mouth fell open.

Only a droplet? Pia and I look at each other. Staring. One... Two.. three.. then Pia burst into laughter.

"Don't laugh, okay!" I said. Well, what will I expect? That I'll be like Hermione? Sigh.

"Haha! Okay I'm sorry..." she's forcing herself to stop to laugh. "As of now, your powers were too weak to release an attack."

As soon as I pick up the sword I felt dizzy. I fell to the ground.

"Are you okay?" Pia help me to stand. "Yes. I just felt dizzy." I replied.

"I see. The sword isn't compatible with your powers. We might not know your true power, as it will be just awaken soon, the sword is not compatible with it." Pia said. Everytime she talk about powers or magic stuffs, I'm becoming eager to know mine. Was it like Eren Jaeger? Melodias? Naruto? Saiki? Arrgh. I'm dying to know.

Lastly, I pick up the whip. I don't feel anything with it. It is especially light. I sighed. "Hey, Pia" I said. Her face looks worried for me. "Maybe, all I can do is to make barriers and to fl—" before I finish talking, I feel all the power inside me rushing toward my hands. The whip started to glow and release a red glitter dusts. I almost froze in shock. Is this it? Without holding back, I swing the whip and it made a powerful impact.

Pia stand in awe.

I'm speechless.

"It's yours now." I look behind my back. Leinard. He was watching.

"You are its new owner." He smiled.
