CHAPTER 5 : THE GRIEF.

482 Words
MISS CATERINA POV : ONE YEAR LATER. It has been a tough year for Serafina. I have watched her grief over her mother's death every single day. She's been really sad and there is nothing I could do to cheer up. She even refused to celebrate her birthday, or any celebrations. I have tried my possible best to put a smile on her face, she needs someone who will love her, I hope a loving family adopts her soon, I don't want her to spend the rest of her life being sad, she's too young to be going through this pain. I sighed after much thinking. "I should check on the kids", I thought to myself. It was already five pm, the girls should be resting, I will just check if they are alright Isabella was the first person to notice me walk in. "Good evening Miss Caterina", she said "Good evening Ma'am", the remaining girls chorused. "I just came to check up on you girls" I said looking at Serafina in particular. "We are fine Ma'am", Valentina said "It will be dinner time soon, all of you should get some rest before then", I said before I walked out of the room. Going straight to my office, I had some files I needed to take care of, we needed people to help out with the fees of the orphanage. Everything was becoming more expensive and the children seemed to be multiplying almost everyday, we needed wealthy families to sponsor the orphanage, so I will be holding a Charity Gala two days from now. I hope it will also help some children to get adopted especially Serafina. Entering into my office I decided to invite people I didn't know I will ever invite to my orphanage, The Mafia, we needed the funds, so I will just have to invite them, after all it is a one day event, nothing to worry about, hopefully. I walked into the dining room the next day with the intention of announcing the event that will hold tomorrow. "Can I have your attention my lovely children", everybody became quiet and I was certain if a pin dropped I would hear it. "There will be a Charity Gala tomorrow, I have invited a lot of affluent families, so please be well behaved tomorrow, some of you might even get adopted by some loving and influencial people" I said while smiling. "Miss Caterina please what's a Charity Gala", one of the children asked. I chuckled and said "oh am sorry for not saying the meaning, A Charity Gala is an event that will help raise money for the orphanage". "Oh, oh", I could see that they finally understood me so I left them to finish their breakfast and went on to start planning for the event. "I really hope nothing goes wrong tomorrow", I said in a low voice.
