The Mafia's Daughter

SERAFINA'S POV : I was already getting uncomfortable sitting down and hearing the screams of my mother. "I have to do something", I said to myself. I tiptoed to the kitchen door, then I carefully opened it a little so they wouldn't notice I was eavesdropping. I could hear my mother pleading with my father not to leave, and in return he slapped her so hard I had to hold my own cheeks. I could see the pain in her eyes but she pretended it wasn't there, I was still lost in my own thoughts and didn't notice my father walking to the kitchen door. He aggressively pushed me away and went to his room...I was so startled that I just sat on the floor and watched the whole drama with a teary eye. Few minutes after, he came out with his luggage which is probably filled with his clothes. My mom ran to him and kept on pleading but he didn't listen to her and he left without turning back. I crawled to my mother's side and didn't even know what to say, I couldn't decide if I was dreaming or if it was reality, all I knew was I wanted to wake up from this nightmare. "Mummy he will come back please don't cry" I told my mom. She looked at me and gave me a small smile....that didn't reach her eyes. I sat close to her legs for a long time and before I knew it... sleep took over my entire body. I only remember I was being carried to my room by my mom...my last words were...."he will come back sooner or later". What I didn't see was the sad look on my mom's face, she knew he wasn't going to come back because he didn't love her or their daughter.
