Chapter 7

1506 Words
Two Years Later (Mischen is 13 years old) I massaged my temples as I got out of my car. Mischen's school had called again, reporting yet again another problem. For the past year or so now I would get at least one phone call a week saying how Mischen got into an argument. Sometimes they'll even tell me that she hit the person. Her anger is getting out of control even though she hasn’t shifted and it’s not time for her vampire side to come out. From birth, all vampires eyes change colors. Their eyesight is always better than a humans will ever be and their hearing will be better as well. However, just about everything else waits for their vampire side to come out. Their aging stops, their fangs come out, and their anger will intensify along with their strength. Their anger usually starts to show slowly, their first year being the hardest to control. That's probably why that one hybrid killed his pack. His anger is the reason why Mischen and I have to run. It's not usually the first sign to show up though. It's always obvious when their vampire side is going to show up though. Their senses improve to a point where it bothers them at first. Their fangs start to slowly come out. Never have I seen anger appear first so I'm not sure what's making Mischen's anger show up now. Her werewolf side hasn't even come out yet. She's almost fourteen but so far she's gotten none of the signs of shifting. I even called Alpha Weiss one time but it just made him worry. I said I'd call him if there was something seriously wrong with her. That seemed to calm him down a bit but I could also tell it didn't completely work since we can't contact each other a lot with risk of someone tracking Mischen and I being out there. I walked into the office, the worker there automatically pointing towards the principal's office. I walked back there to see Mischen, some boy with dyed black hair, and the principal. The principal looks like she would be one of those librarians in movies. A tight bun on the top of her head, glasses, and a frown etched permanently onto her lips. "Mr. Salvus," she said in her shrill voice that made me want to put in earplugs. "Mischen has done it again. She got into a fight with Tommy here," she pointed to the boy who I now noticed had a swollen eye that would definitely be bruised tomorrow. "She has gotten off the hook far too many times." "Tommy can you leave," I said more than asked. I saw the boy scramble up and run out of the office. "Did you even ask Mischen's side of the story?" I had gotten used to this lady. She never listened to anyone, no matter the situation. My thoughts were confirmed when her lips thinned out even more. "I didn't think so. Mischen, what happened?" She stared at me, eyes hopeless, and began to stutter, "I don't remember hitting him, I swear. He just got so close to me and I f-freaked out. Next thing I know, my vision goes black and then I wake up with someone pulling me off of him. I'm s-sorry Salvus. I didn't me-mean to hurt him." Usually when they have me come down to the school it's because she hit someone. A guy usually. She's just not comfortable around them. "But you did! Multiple people saw you Missy," she hissed pointing her finger at Mischen. "I am tired of you getting away with this violence! You have gotten away with it for too long!" I looked to Mischen to see her clenching her fists, her eyes slowly turning darker. She was trying to control it. I went to her side, putting my hands over hers, trying to get her to calm down. She gave me a simple nod and tilted her head up enough to let me see her eyes back to their stunning green color. "I won't tolerate her behavior at this school any longer. She is-" "All do respect, you can't expel her. When I enrolled her in this school I told you that she had certain issues. She said she blacked out then she blacked out. You can suspend her if you want but if you try to expel her not only will I remove her from this school, I will report you and make your life so f****d up you might as well have had your own personal porn video uploaded to the internet. Now I'd think about your next words carefully," I threaten. I will not have anyone treating my Misha. "I think it's best you get her out of my office, consider this strike two. Everything else she has done will be strike one. Three strikes and she's out. For good. For now, she is suspended for the next week." I nod at the b***h and pull Mischen up, leaving the office. I still intend to report her. I won’t f**k up her life but I can get her fired. When we get in my car I punch the steering wheel. I feel sparks go through my arm and see Mischen's hand. I look up to her eyes, noticing they were turning darker again. Her hold on my arm tightened. "She's a b***h anyways." My eyes widened at her words. Then her eyes turned black and she screamed. My eyes widen and I grab onto her hand. She bites her lip and digs her nails into my hand. She let go of her lip, showing how it’s now red and screams again. I quickly turned on the car and rushed home. Every now and then she would bite her lip to stop screaming. "Mischen you need to calm down, okay? Just take a few deep breaths." I saw her trying to do as I said. I parked outside the house, immediately rushing out of the car. I yanked Mischen out of her seat, not letting go of her hand. I yanked her into the house as fast as I could, not quite sure what to do. I sit down on the couch and do the only thing I can think of. I pull her to my chest just in time to see her eyes turn black again. She starts to hit my chest, making me hold in a groan. I don't understand what's happening to her. All of a sudden it stops. I was about to pull back when I feel an all too familiar feeling. The pinch in my neck that I haven't felt in a long time and the feeling of my blood being drawn out of my body. I froze. Mischen was doing this. Mischen was drinking my blood. This was impossible. She's too young. She's supposed to shift first. How is this possible? Nonetheless, I hold her closer. Her tiny fangs try to sink deeper into my skin, her hands yanking herself closer. She stops, her fangs retreating as she goes limp in my arms. I pull her back, my eyes wide due to what just happened. Blood covers her lips and a bit of her chin. She'll learn to be less. . . sloppy in time. Her skin is paler than usual, bags under her eyes, and her hair is everywhere due to her thrashing in my arms. I pick her up and walk to her room. I lay her down in her bed, covering her with a few blankets. Her skin is too cold. I quickly grab a few tissues to clean off the blood on her. I turn to walk out of the room when I heard her groan. I turn back around to see her clutching her head. "Salvus?" Her voice is strained but it reaches my ears. "When did we get home? Why am I in bed?" My eyebrows scrunched together in confusion. I went back to her side, sitting on her bed. I brushed back some of her hair, noticing a few strands stained with specks of blood. "What do you remember?" I'm cautious about what I say. I don't know what happened to her and she doesn't need to be freaked out. "My head." She grabs her head and groans. "It hurts so much." "Mischen, focus on me for a second and I'll go get you something for the pain." She nods and I give her a small smile. "What was the last thing you remember?" "You were talking to Principal Gossa and then she yelled at you. It made me mad, really mad. Then. . . It all went black. Salvus, what's happening to me?" I grabbed her hand, squeezing tightly. Her green eyes turned blue. She was worried. "I don't know but I'm going to fix it,” I said, determination lacing my voice. “Now, let's go get you something for you head."
