"Are you sure you don't want to go back to sleep? It's pretty late still. Well, it's early, I guess," I said, spotting the clock on the TV with 3:12AM flashing on the screen.
"I'm not tired. Even if I was, I don't think I'd be able to get back to sleep." she started to yank on the end of her braid, walking into the kitchen. I automatically walked in after her and started to make a pot of coffee. I rolled my eyes when she crinkled her nose up in disgust. I turned on the kettle as she went to the pantry to choose what tea she wanted.
"Do you remember anything Mischen?" I needed to know how he got into the house. He already said he broke the fence and I saw it for myself. It wasn't just one area broken, it was the entire fence. He made it look like a tornado ripped it apart. However, I have a lot of security around the house. He didn't set off a single alarm and it pisses me off. Mischen is no longer safe when I go hunting.
"No. All I remember is when I went to sleep last night. Stupid blackouts," she grumbled out, grabbing her favorite mug. I grabbed my cup of coffee as she started to pour the water into her mug.
"Hopefully they'll stop soon," I tell her with a small smile.
"Maybe if I could shift I would be able to remember," she said gloomily. I know that she'll be mad at me for even thinking this, but I feel bad for her. I know how much she looked forward to shifting and I know how she looked forward to being trained to 'kick ass' as she put it. Now, I'm not even sure if that's going to happen. When I told her she was a hybrid she thought that, that is why she hasn’t shifted yet. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that the other hybrid shifted when a normal wolf would shift.
She took a sip of her tea as her eyes started to glow a reddish orange. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. When she opened them again they were back to her normal green.
"You'll just have to be patient. I am trying to figure out anything that could help you," I said honestly. I had been researching it for a few months now. Nothing had come up that would work for her due to the blood flowing through her veins. The blood of both a werewolf and a vampire. "And control your anger. That's what's causing the blackouts."
"I know!" She glared at me, her eyes flashing between black and green. She slammed her mug down hard enough to chip it but not break it. I picked up my coat off of the chair it was on and wrapped it around her shaking form. I needed her to calm down. She slumped down into a seat, taking deep breaths. "I know," she whispered. "It's just so. . . hard. I can't even control it half the time. Maybe I'm just f****d up somewhere in my head."
"You're not f****d up Misha. You're just different and that is what makes you, you. We'll find out how to get you to shift, your vampire side will fully come out, I can train you, and you can go back to your pack. Everything will work out." She tugged on her hair again.
"You'll be going back with me right?" I set down my coffee and pulled her to me. Pumpkin spice and vanilla filled my nose as she hugged me back. "Right?" I pulled back, holding her at a certain distance.
"Of course I am," I said honestly. I will always go where she goes. However, I'll need to make sure Miko isn't in the way anymore. I'll bring him to the brink of death and then bring him to Misha, let her kill him off. When we were walking back she was mumbling about how she was going to 'kill the bastard' who broke into our house. If she wants to, I'll let her. Just. . . Not when he is still capable of harming her, taking her.
That's the thing about Miko, once he has something in mind he won't give it up. In 1903 someone told him he couldn't have a girl. He ended up kidnapping her. He raped her and threw her on that person's porch. It took him almost a year just to lead up to that damned plan. I tried to convince him out of it but he refused to give up. Nothing can change his mind once he has it made up.
"I uh-" she hesitated. "I just wanted to thank you Salvus. You're always there for me." I smiled at her. I will always be there for her. Always.
"Let's go watch a movie or something," I suggest. Mischen's eyes light up, an idea that I already know forming in her head.
"Harry Potter?" I nod and go to the hall as she sets up the movie. I grab a few blankets out of the hall closet, trying to get the softer ones. I went back to the living room, Mischen already having the first one started with a bowl of popcorn in her lap. I throw a blanket on top of her head and she squeals, throwing it off of her as a bit of popcorn flies around. "Seriously Salvus? You jerk."
"Give me that," I tell her and take the popcorn. Her eyes widen and she turns to me, murder in her eyes.
"Give me my popcorn Salvus," she hisses and I chuckle.
"And if I don't?"
"Then I kill you in your sleep," she says but I can see her fighting back a smile.
"Please, I could fight you off any day little girl." She jumps up and grabs the bowl back from me. I quickly grab her waist and toss her to the floor, stealing the bowl back and throwing a few pieces in my mouth as a sign of victory. She huffs, annoyed. She pushes herself back up and hauls herself back onto the couch. She starts to mumble things under her breath but I heard everything. "Shut up and watch the movie." She mumbles some more.
