Chapter 3The Desert Will Will lay awake a little longer, eyes shut against the morning glare, enjoying the sound of Fenn’s quiet breathing against his chest. It was nice to be close. He hadn’t had that in a while. It had been a long time since he’d felt a connection like the one he felt with Fenn. Will wasn’t a casual sort of chap anyway. Since his injuries courtesy of the Abteilung in Palestine in the winter of 1914 and his encounter with gas at Ypres later that year, he’d had more pressing things on his mind than finding a fellow he could have this with. It had taken him a long time to come back from the gas and he hadn’t felt much like engaging in the careful dance of inquiry and acceptance that finding someone involved. He’d felt bereft after Mark, anyway. The connection with his t
