2 Promises

A Year Later Elise POV I make my way to the reception area of the McNair building. Morris has been away for one week and I couldn't wait until tonight to see him. Maurie, one of the receptionists, smiles when she sees me. "Hi, Ms. Bodey, it's good to see you again." "Maurie, please just call me Elise. How have you been?" "I'm really good. I got engaged last week" she says, showing me her ring. "It's beautiful Maurie, congratulations." "Thank you, Elise. Mr. McNair is just finishing up a meeting if you want to head up to his office and wait." "Thanks, Maurie, take care." I head for the private elevator and take it to the sixth floor. When the doors open, I smile at Kirk, Morris's assistant. He hops up and rushes toward me with a huge smile when he spots me. "Elise, I'm so glad you're here. He has been like a beast since he walked through the door this morning. Seeing you will definitely put him in a better mood. Don't tell him I said that," he says, and I laugh. "I promise I'll keep it between us." "Why don't you wait for him in his office, and I'll bring you a cup of coffee" he asks. "Sounds good, thank you, Kirk." I head into Morris's office and take a seat on the couch that faces the windows overlooking the city. I pull my phone from my purse and open the app to the book I've been reading. I'm not sure how much time passes before I hear the door open and Morris steps inside. He looks like he has just stepped off the pages of GQ magazine. He is the sexiest man I've ever seen and the fact that he loves me is humbling. When his eyes land on me, he smiles. A smile that he reserves just for me. I jump up and rush over, throwing my arms around his neck. The minute his lips touch mine, my body melts against his. He deepens the kiss and I can feel it all the way down to my toes. When he finally pulls his lips from mine, we're both breathless. He presses his forehead against mine and tightens his arms around me. "God, I missed you. I'm so glad you're here" he says. "I missed you too. How was your trip?" "Boring but at least the pr*ck signed the contract. Now enough about business. I have something special planned for us tonight. Briar is leaving Derek home with the kids and the two of you are going for a day of pampering. I'll pick you up at five" he says. Excitement bubbles in my belly. He presses another kiss to my lips, leaving me wanting more before he walks me to the elevator. God, I love this man. I thoroughly enjoy spending the day with Briar. She and I have become very close since I started dating Morris. Growing up with only brothers makes me grateful to have Briar in my life. "You look amazing, Elise. Morris is going to lose his sh*t when he sees you in that dress," Briar says and I smile. It's an off the shoulder red maxi dress that hugs my curves in all the right places. I had the girl at the spa give me some highlights and keep my makeup natural. "I had better get back to the house before Derek sends out a search party. Besides, Morris will be here any minute," Briar says, and hugs me. A few minutes later, I open the door, and I'm greeted by Morris's sexy smile. His eyes move down my body and I feel my skin heat under his gaze. "Maybe we should stay home" he says, reaching out to wrap his arm around my waist. "Oh, no way. I've been waxed and primped for this date, and we are going. You owe me a romantic date for leaving me for a whole week." He takes my hand, leading me down to the waiting town car. Once we are in the car, Morris seems nervous, which is not like him. "Is everything alright babe?" "Of course, I just want to make sure tonight is perfect." "As long as I'm with you, Morris, it will be perfect." A few minutes later, we pull up to the lavish hotel that Derek owns. Morris gets out and opens my door. Morris leads me through the lobby and to a set of double doors. When he pushes them open, there is one table in the middle of the large room. He leads me over to the table but doesn't let me sit. "If I haven't said it already, you look stunning. You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, and I'm so grateful that I get to love you every day of my life." My heart begins to race as Morris drops down to one knee. I cover my mouth with both hands and I fight back tears. "Elise Bodey, the moment I met you on that plane I knew we were meant to be together. The connection I felt with you is unlike anything I've ever felt before. This last year has been the best year of my life because you're in it. I want to wake up every day with you by my side and make love to you every night before I hold you in my arms. Elise Bodey, will you marry me?" I don't even have to think about the answer. I want to spend the rest of my life with this man. "Yes, Morris, I'll marry you. I love you. I want to be your wife and for you to be my husband." He opens the red box in his hand and pulls out the perfect ring. It's a princess cut pink diamond that isn't too big. He knows me so well. I love the ring. He slides it on my finger and stands to his full height. He pulls me into his arms and slams his mouth down on mine. This kiss feels like he is trying to devour me and I can feel my panties dampen. A throat-clearing makes us break the kiss. Morris and I turn to see who I assume is a waiter. "I apologize for interrupting Mr. McNair but the chef is ready to start your first course." If looks could kill, the waiter would be dead. "That's great, thank you" I say and the waiter rushes off. "You can't get mad at the man for doing his job," I say turning back toward Morris. "I absolutely can. I was kissing my fiancé. He should have waited until we were done." "Well, I promise after we enjoy dinner, we can do a lot more than kiss." Lust flashes in his eyes. "I will hold you to that." He leads me over to the table and pulls my chair out. The dinner is amazing, but it's hard to focus on anything but the man sitting across from me. As soon as we finish eating, soft music starts to play. Morris stands coming around the table and offers me his hand. I take it without hesitation, and he pulls my body flush with his. We start to sway to the music and I lay my head on his chest. Everything feels perfect at this moment and I can't wait to marry this man. "So, how soon can we get married" he asks and I chuckle. "I don't need anything big, Morris. Just our family and friends. All that matters to me is that the people we love share the day. I would marry you tomorrow if we could make that happen." "As tempting as that is, I want you to have your special day. We are only going to do this once, my love. How about we have it here in this very room in two weeks" he asks. I pull back looking into his eyes. "Yes, I would love to marry you here. What about the arrangements?" "I spoke with Kirk, his wife is a wedding planner. She will be reaching out to you tomorrow. I want you to have everything you want, Elise. I know how you feel about using my credit card, but my money is your money. Kirk knows there is no budget." He presses his lips to mine before I can protest. We need to talk about his wealth before we get married. I'm going to insist on a prenup even though I know we will never get a divorce. I don't want anyone thinking I care about Morris's money. "I can already see you worrying about money. I mean it Elise. It's our money." I let it go for now because I just want to enjoy our amazing night together.
