~Alpha King~
“Alpha, we received a petition.”
I was staring at the paintings in the bedroom, not because it was the first time I had seen them but because I wanted to distract my thoughts.
I sipped from the green tea and handed the teacup to the man standing beside me. I folded my arm, with my eyes fixed on the painting.
“Alpha, I said that we—“
I lifted my hand, and that was enough to shut him up. He sighed and lowered his head.
A knock came through the door, and I looked away from the painting.
“Alpha King,”
“Leave!” I growled.
I heard his feet fade away from the doorpost.
I stretched my hand and the teacup was placed gently on them, I took another sip and sauntered to the bed and sat.
He cleared his throat, standing some feet away from me.
“Who did I ask to lead this?” I dropped the teacup at the table and picked up the paperwork.
“I’m sorry, Alpha, I should have handled it...” His head was tilted downward.
“What are you?” I stared at the paperwork without any interest in it.
“Your Beta, Alpha.” He muttered.
“What’s your punishment for a failed business deal?”
“I would get the girl today, Alpha. Something happened yesterday and we couldn’t get her. We only realized the Alpha Argus hadn’t told the family yet.”
“Who was our target?”
He shifted uncomfortably in his feet and rubbed his hands down his trousers nervously.
“A poor girl, weak omega, or an orphan.”
“Why is there a family involved? The pack wants an heir, we only need someone who can produce an heir for the pack, and whatever happens to her afterward shouldn’t be a problem. Wasn’t that the deal?” I dropped the paperwork and folded my hands, staring at him.
“I’m sorry, Alpha. I have wired half of the p*****t to Argus.”
I picked up the teacup and flipped it at him, it hit him on his forehead and splattered into several pieces on the floor.
There was a cut on his forehead.
I rose from the bed, slowly and marched down to him. He remained rooted in his spot and did not move an inch.
“We are leaving for Sliverfang Pack, Set up a meeting. A business should be business.” I snarled.
“Yes, Alpha.”
I turned and faced the painting. “Get out.” I sneered.
He bowed and walked out of the room, he came back almost immediately and was taking the broken teacup from the ground.
The council of elders wanted me to find another Luna for the pack because it’s been ten years since the last Luna. I was not going to give in to that.
My fated mate Kara was killed, I was planning to rule as the Alpha King without a Luna but it wasn’t possible because the pack needed an heir.
They gave me an arranged mate, Helen five years ago but she died as well even before she was crowned Queen Luna.
The pack members and wolves across deemed it fit to call me a curse, that every woman who came close to me, died.
For the remaining five years, I stayed away from She Wolf, and there was no calamity.
I was a daemon wolf, I was disgusted with myself for being a daemon wolf and bearing a curse.
Nobody hates myself than I do. I have Alpha since I was fourteen, had the heavy crown on my head ever since, a loner path that has been decided as my fate.
Walking into a tunnel that never seems to end.
It was because of it, my mate died, and Helen.
I crossed my hand at the back and let out an exasperated sigh.
“Get the car ready, I will see to it that the business deal is successful. I will visit Argus.” I say without staring at my Beta who was wiping the floor.
“Yes, Alpha. I will get it done, immediately.” I waved him off and walked to the wardrobe to get dressed.
‘The council of elders seeks your audience, Alpha.’ My Gemma mind linked me.
‘I will be there.’
I opened the bedroom door and stepped out of the room, graciously taking my steps down the stairs.
A minority of the elders were seated, and they raised immediately the spot me coming.
With their head tilted downward and their hands folded in front of them.
“Alpha King.”
I nodded my head in acknowledgment of their greetings and took a seat.
“What is this meeting about, I have an urgent meeting I need to attend to.”
“We have discussed the position of the Luna, we can’t seem to have our hands on any...” I raised my hand, and the chief elder stopped talking.
I know where the conversation was heading and it shouldn’t go that way.
“I have found a breeder. The position of the Luna would remain vacant.” I announced.
“It must have been difficult to secure one because of the rumors going around the empire.” Chief Elder murmured.
“But, Alpha Lai—“
“Don’t you dare!” I flared at him.
No one dares to call me by my name!
“Gemma!” I growled.
“Take him out!” I snarled, my nose rising.
“The meeting has come to an end.” I stood up and walked out of the living room.
“We barely said anything.” The murmured.
“You want to go against me?” I stood staring at their bald heads. “Gemma.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Lead them out of the house.”
I walked out on them, headed back to my room, and slammed the door behind me.
‘Get ready to leave.’ I mind-linked my Beta. I did not wait for his response before I closed the mind link.
“Alpha.” Argus bowed when we arrived at the pack, I scrunched my face at the sight of the pack, it was quite displeasing to see.
“Do not tell me any excuse.”
He grumbled a few words under his breath.
“They escaped, we are looking for them at the moment.”
“How long have we been on this?”
“Two years, Alpha King. I’m sorry.”
I was tired of hearing that, and it was making my ear hurt.
“One more sorry and I will make you sorry,” I growled. He stepped back away from me.
“I have waited long enough, haven’t I?”
He fell on his knees with his face down, I scoffed and walked past him.
“Find her.”
“I have sent the warriors after her.”
It was getting late and we still couldn’t find her, I gave Argus five hours to bring her to me, or else he was going to face my wrath with his pack.
I needed a hunt, it was a full moon and I couldn’t control the urge of my wolf to be let out.
I got into the woods with my Beta beside me, and some of the warriors. Hopefully, we might find some rogues to quench my blood lust.
I shifted to my wolf form, and Jax took control of my body, running into the woods.
We howled across the moon and continued running deep into the woods of the Sliverfang Pack.
I howled again and Jax my wolf stopped abruptly and sniffed the air around us.
‘What is it?’ I groaned.
‘Something is here.’ Jax growled, and glanced around, restlessly.
I shifted to my human form, and my Beta gave me back my clothes.
I dressed up and walked around the woods I was. Jax said he could sense it from here.
I smirked, knowing that my prey was coming.
It didn’t stop Jax from being anxious and worried. My wolf stopped showing any sign of emotions for the past ten years.
I wonder what was wrong now.
“Step back, something is coming.” I stopped the men behind me.
‘What the f**k is it?’ I asked furiously at my wolf, it was upsetting he was behaving this way.
The moon shone on her, and her long red brown hair covered her face, staring behind her as she ran.
My heart suddenly felt heavy, and thumped so fast.
‘It’s her.’ Jax snarled.
The reason we were feeling this way, was because of her.
The moon seemed to shine brightly on her, as she ran faster, I could hear her panting so loud, I could sense her fears, and I could feel her pains.
“Alpha, someone is coming.” My beta muttered from behind me.
I gaze my gaze at the moon, what was this awful feeling?
“Argh!”
I turned towards the sound of her voice, she was on the ground. I couldn’t see her face properly because of her hair. She groaned, trying to stand from the ground.
I took a step, the closer I got to her the more my skin prickled strangely.
Her hazel eyes met with mine, and she said a word whichever I couldn’t comprehend, and slumped.
I squats, and tuck her hair behind her ears. There was blood on my fingers when I touched her face, I lifted her chin and took in her looks.
Weak, petite omega.
But why was I drowned to her, why does her scent intoxicate me in some way?
I let go of her face, and her head fell back to the ground.
This was probably another trick from the moon goddess.
I stood up and moved away from her.
I’m not feeling this way again not after what I went through.
No, it’s not supposed to happen.
It could be a mistake by the moon goddess.
‘It’s her, she’s mate.’ Jax growled.
I shook my head to deny the truth.
‘It seems the moon goddess decides to have mercy on us, on a full moon, giving us a second chance mate.’ Jax muttered.
I took another step away from her.
‘No.’
There’s no way I would have a second chance mate.
An omega?
“You found her,” Argus’s Beta pants heavily when he met with us, his eyes went to the girl on the ground. He huffed staring at her, and if I wasn’t there he would have hit her despite her being unconscious.
“She’s the one, Alpha King.” He points at her.
“Why is she bleeding?”
He stammered and couldn’t find words to say.
“Why is she in such a state? A breeder was supposed to be kept healthy. I will meet with your Alpha.” I turned to leave but stopped in my tracks.
“Take her.”
