CHAPTER 23

“YOUR Majesty, the Alpha of Nightfall Pack and his son are here.” Imporma ni Cade sa Alpha King na mukhang may malalim na iniisip habang mag-isa itong nakatayo sa malawak na balkonahe ng palasyo at nakatitig sa malayo.

Tumingin naman si Lawrence sa baba ng palasyo at nakita niya doon ang pagdating ng limang magagarang kotse. Tumaas ang sulok ng kaniyang labi.

“I’ve been expecting him since last night.” Ani Lawrence. After he sent Blythe to her room, he asked Ezralyn about what happened and Ezralyn told him who that bastard had done to humiliate his mate. Today, he won’t take it easy.

Lawrence clicked his tongue when he saw who had come out of the third car. It was Elder Aslan. He was from the Nightfall Pack.

“Cade, serve them – “ Napatigil si Lawrence nang marinig niya ang sinabi ng Alpha ng Nightfall Pack.

“Your Majesty, I am here to seek justice for my son!”

“Your Majesty, this is outrageous.” Galit na saad ni Cade. “Hindi ka niya rinespeto.”

Ngumiti lang si Lawrence pero iyong uri ng ngiti na may binabalak na hindi maganda.

“Don’t worry,” sabi ni Lawrence. “I don’t care about anything else, but I won’t let that bastard who touched my mate get out of this compound without apologizing to my mate.”

Cade understood what the Alpha King meant, but this was not going to be easy. The Nightfall Pack is not their alliance, but they are allied to other packs.

“Let’s go. Let’s meet our special visitors. And tell Ezra to bring Blythe to the palace's throne room.”

Cade bowed and followed the Alpha King as he left the balcony.

Nang makalabas si Lawrence ng palasyo, binati siya ng mga dumating. “Greetings, Your Majesty.”

“At ease,” Lawrence said, and looked at Dean Travis, the bastard who touched his mate. Tumaas ang sulok ng kaniyang labi nang makita ang naka-cast nitong braso. As a werewolf, they have their healing ability and Dean Travis’ arm should have been healed, but as he sees, his arm is not yet healed. Now, he wondered what Blythe did to make Dean suffer.

But seeing the man who touched his mate, he wanted to kill him. But he was the Alpha King, he needed to abide by the law of werewolves.

“Alpha Daniel, I wonder what brought you here. If you want to talk with me, we can talk inside.” Lawrence politely said.

Napailing naman si Cade. The more His Majesty was polite, the more he thought of doing evil towards the bastard who disrespected the Queen. Lumaki siya kasama ang Alpha King at kilala na niya ang ugali nito. Mabait si Lawrence. Laging kalmado pero hindi biro kapag ito ang nagalit. Kapag galit ito, kalmado lang ito pero may mga umiikot ng mga mapanganib nitong gagawin sa isipan nito. The more Lawrence was polite, the more he thought of a decisive plan. He couldn’t help but to sigh and wish Dean Travis to be alive after that.

“No need, Your Majesty. I am here to seek justice for my son.”

“Justice?” Lawrence sounded confused, but he knew what Alpha Daniel was talking about. “What do you mean, Alpha Daniel?”

“My son got his arm broken. And the one who broke his arm was the woman who claimed he was your mate. Your Majesty, please give me the justice that my son deserves. Or else, Elder Aslan will intervene.” Alpha Daniel said, and looked at Elder Aslan who was standing beside him.

Ngumiti si Lawrence saka namulsa. “Elder Aslan, can you tell me what was the consequence of harming an Alpha’s son?”

“Twenty lashes, Your Majesty. Anyone who hurts an Alpha’s son will be lashed by a silver whip,” Elder Aslan said, with no emotion in his voice.

Tumango si Lawrence. “That’s right. Pero paano kung ang taong ‘yon na nanakit sa anak ng isang Alpha ay prinotektahan niya lamang ang kaniyang sarili. It was a defensive move – “

“I didn’t do anything to her!” Dean interjects.

“Outrageous!” Cade yelled. “His Majesty was still speaking. You are disrespecting him!”

“Cade, calm down.” Kalmadong saad ni Lawrence. “Let me do this, okay?”

Cade bowed and nodded. Pero kinakabahan siya, hindi para sa Alpha King kundi para sa Alpha ng Nightfall Pack at sa anak nito. After all, King Lawrence was merciful, but when he’s mad, he is dangerous. Dangerous than a monster.

“Indeed, my mate is the one who broke Young Master Dean’s arm, but she only did that because Young Master Dean humiliated her,” Lawrence's voice was cold.

“I didn’t do anything to her!” Dean denied.

“You were defending yourself, making you look obvious and guilty,” malamig na saad ni Lawrence.

Those who could hear the Alpha King’s voice felt something that made them shiver to their spine.

“Your Majesty,” Elder Aslan interjects. If he doesn’t intervene, Alpha Daniel will lose his dignity. After all, Alpha Daniel was the one who came into the palace and this was already being disrespectful to the Alpha King. “We are all decent people. May I ask if we could speak about this matter calmly in the throne room?”

Lawrence immediately turned his back and entered the palace. The rest followed. They went to the throne room.

Lawrence sat on the throne while the rest stood below the throne. “This looks more decent.” Aniya. “Summon, Lady Blythe and Lady Ezralyn.” Utos niya kay Cade.

Yumukod si Cade saka nagsalita. “Lady Blythe. Lady Ezralyn. Please, enter the throne room!”

Blythe entered the throne room with Ezralyn. Kasama rin nila si Gamma Ezra. Sinabi na sa kaniya ni Ezralyn na nandito si Dean Travis kaya naman hindi na siya nagulat nang makita si Dean Travis. Gusto niyang tumawa dahil naka-cast ang braso nito. Hindi nito basta-basta mapapagaling ang braso nitong binali niya dahil nag-enchant siya ng spell at tanging ang katulad lamang niya ang makakatanggal ng spell na ‘yon. If she doesn’t remove the spell that she put on Dean, then his arms won’t be healed.

“Your Majesty.” Ezra and Ezralyn bowed.

Ito ang unang beses na nakita ni Blythe si Lawrence na nakaupo sa trono. Aaminin niyang ibang-iba si Lawrence na lagi niyang nakikita sa study room nito kaysa sa Lawrence na nakaupo ngayon sa trono. Lawrence exudes authority and power. She couldn’t help but to be amazed by him.

Lawrence smiled at his mate and winked at her.

Blythe could only slightly bow her head.

Napailing naman si Lawrence. “I already told you, my mate. No need to bow to me.” Aniya at narinig ‘yon ang lahat pero wala siyang pakialam. They should know that disrespecting his mate was the same as disrespecting him.

“Come here.” Tinawag ni Lawrence si Blythe na lumapit ito sa kaniya.

Blythe looked at the Beta. Hindi siya sigurado kung dapat ba siyang lumapit kay Lawrence. Though she is Lawrence’s mate, but they aren’t married.

Cade offered his arm to Lady Blythe. “Your Highness, please.”

Pasimpleng humugot ng malalim na hininga si Blythe saka humawak sa braso ni Cade. Cade led her to the throne where Lawrence was sitting.

“Sit beside me.”

“But…”

“My Queen, please sit beside me.” Lawrence’s voice was firm yet gentle.

Wala ng nagawa si Blythe kundi ang umupo sa tabi ni Lawrence.

Elder Aslan, who saw the whole thing, couldn’t help but be taken aback after seeing the Alpha Kings’ mate. Though the King’s mate looks ordinary, he has already seen someone like her before. The king’s mate’s scent is not ordinary. Behind those beautiful and innocent faces, he knew the king’s mate could turn the palace upside down with her power. Now, his question was answered. The reason why Dean’s arm wasn’t healed, even though they have their healing ability, is that the King’s mate surely did something when she broke Dean’s arm.

“Since we are all here. Let’s start discussing Alpha Daniel’s matter.” Lawrence's voice held with authority that Blythe couldn’t help but look up to him with amazement.

“Your Majesty, your mate broke my son’s arm. Though she was your mate, and she is the Queen, she should conduct herself with dignity. She shouldn’t break my son’s arm. My son didn’t do anything wrong.” Alpha Daniel defended his son.

“Your son didn’t do anything to me?” Blythe scoffed. “Alpha, I am the kind of person who won’t break someone’s arm unless they did something to me. Your son humiliated me even though Lady Ezralyn had already told him my identity. He told me to be his woman and he even touched me.”

Lawrence growled.

‘Let me out, Lawrence. I will kill this bastard!’

‘Calm down, Lucas. Let our mate handle this. Only this way, she could show that she is capable.’

Natahimik si Lucas pero umangil ito. ‘I still wanted to kill him.’

‘I want to kill him too. But we need to trust Blythe. She is the Queen, and she needs to show them who she was and what she is capable of.’

Tumayo si Blythe at pinagsiklop niya ang kamay sa kaniyang harapan. “Young Master Travis, you came here with your father to seek justice. Should I not be the one who will seek justice? You humiliated me. Be thankful that I only broke your arm and not your neck.”

Lawrence hoped that his mate broke Dean’s neck instead of his arm. But he was proud that his mate could say those words with confidence.

Cade smiled and knew that the Queen was capable of protecting herself even without the King’s protection.

“I will take the punishment for what I did, but I deserve an apology from you, Young Master Travis.” Blythe said with authority.

Lumaki ang mata ni Ezralyn. “Lashes…” she muttered and got worried about Blythe.

Lawrence was proud that his mate took responsibility for what she did, but he would never let his mate be lashed with the silver whip.

“Elder Aslan, you are an Elder. My mate is the one involved, so I shouldn’t involve myself to avoid bias. Please, solve this matter for me.”

Elder Aslan bowed, and he saw Alpha Daniel looking at him. Of course, he would solve this case fair and square even though Alpha Daniel was related to him. He won’t let Alpha Daniel’s son, Dean, get away from what he did to the King’s mate. What Dean did was disrespectful. The Alpha King was already kind enough that Dean was still alive until now.

“According to law, anyone who will harm the Alpha’s son or daughter, will be punished by lashes of the silver whip. But considering if the law violator is a woman, and she had his mate, his mate will take the punishment.” Elder Aslan said.

Nagulat si Blythe. Will Lawrence be punished on my behalf? I really caused trouble for him.

Tumayo si Lawrence mula sa pagkakaupo niya sa trono. Hinawakan niya ang kamay ni Blythe. “Blythe Davis is my mate, so I will take the punishment for her. But, Dean Travis, apologized to my mate. She broke your arm because you touched and humiliated her. By law, she should be punished for what she did. I will take her punishment, but you need to apologize to her.”

“Okay. Then His Majesty will be lashed twenty times,” Elder Aslan announced.

Blythe looked at Lawrence in disbelief. “You…”

Lawrence smiled and kissed Blythe on her forehead. “I’ll be fine.”
