CHAPTER 24

“APOLOGIZE should be done and punishment should be imposed.” Iyon ang sinabi ni Lawrence bago ito nagsimulang mahampas ng latigo.

Blythe couldn’t endure looking at Lawrence while being whipped, so she closed her eyes, but she could hear the strike of the whip that was being hit to Lawrence’s back.

Si Elder Aslan mismo ang may hawak ng latigo.

“Apologize to my mate!”

Blythe heard Lawrence’s voice, but she couldn’t look at him.

“Apologize to her!”

Alpha Daniel looked at his son. ‘Apologize to the Queen. You told me that you didn’t do anything, but after coming here, I learned that you lied. So, apologize to her now before the Alpha King sent us to death!’

Umiling si Dean. All his life, he never apologized. Why would he apologize to a lowly creature? Though Blythe is the King’s mate, she doesn’t deserve his apology. He would never apologize.

As Lawrence endured the lashes of the silver whip being struck on his back, he walked towards Alpha Daniel’s son. “Apologize to my mate! Apologize to your Queen!”

Another strike of a silver whip hit Lawrence’s back.

Blythe couldn’t take it anymore, so she walked towards Lawrence. “Your Majesty…”

“Your Highness, it’s the law. Please, step back.” Ani Elder Aslan.

“It’s fine…” Mahinang sabi ni Lawrence. “I’ll be fine.”

Walang nagawa si Blythe kundi ang umatras. A tear escaped from her eye as she listened to the strike of the silver whip hitting Lawrence while asking Dean to apologize to her. Ngayon naramdaman niyang mahalaga siya kay Lawrence. He was protecting her.

‘Dean, don’t make me mad! Apologize to the King’s mate! Now!”

“Apologize to my Queen!”

Dean, finally, kneeled and asked for forgiveness. “I apologized, Your Highness. Please, forgive me!”

As Dean apologized, the punishment ended.

Mabilis na tumakbo si Blythe patungo kay Lawrence. “Ren…”

Hinawakan ni Lawrence ang mukha ni Blythe. “Baby…”

“Your Majesty!” Cade and Ezra went to the King. Inalalayan nila ang Alpha King.

Duguan ang likod ni Lawrence. Blythe felt guilty and was ashamed of herself.

Lawrence saw Blythe’s expression. “I said I would protect you. I won’t let anyone hurt you, but someone humiliated you. I won’t take it lying down…”

“Leave it to me.” Seryosong sabi ni Blythe. “I’m sorry that you suffered.”

Umiling si Lawrence. “As long as it’s for you. I won’t mind.”

Blythe could feel Lawrence’s sincerity, but she wouldn’t take it easy. Humarap siya kay Dean na hanggang ngayon ay nakaluhod pa rin. “Dean Travis, I will forgive you and heal your broken arm. I will lift the spell I put on you.” Aniya. “You humiliated me so I broke your arm. His Majesty was punished on my behalf. As his mate, I was ashamed that he was punished, and I didn’t do my best.”

Lawrence wanted to tell Blythe that he was willing to take the punishment for her, but he could feel his body weakened by the twenty lashes of a silver whip. Ang silver whip ang kahinaan nilang mga lobo at pwede nila itong ikamatay kapag nasugatan sila ng sandata na gawa sa pilak.

“Hindi ko papalagpasin ang nangyaring ‘to, Dean.” Walang emosyong saad ni Blythe. Lumitaw sa kamay niya ang isang dagger at sinugatan niya ang kaniyang kaliwang palad at tumulo ang sariwang dugo.

Nagulat at nagtaka ang lahat sa ginawa ni Blythe.

“I curse you, Dean Travis, to have a human mate. She will be feared by you and she will reject you. You won’t be given a second chance, mate. Of course, maiiwasan mo ang sumpa kung magbabago ka ng kusa at walang pumipilit sa ‘yo.” Pagkatapos sabihin ‘yon ni Blythe, naghilom ang sugat niya sa kaniyang palad.

Then Blythe held Lawrence and the two of them disappeared from their sight.

Mabilis namang lumabas si Cade at Ezra sa throne room para pumunta sa silid ng Alpha King. They came across Dr. Elijah who was running towards the Alpha King’s bedroom. Naabutan nilang inaalalayan ni Blythe si Lawrence pahiga ng padapa sa kama.

“Your Highness.” They bowed.

“Your Highness, let me cure His Majesty.” Ani Dr. Elijah. Then he added, “I can only help him relieve his pain, Your Highness. Silver is lethal to werewolves, there is no cure for it. Let it heal itself.” Said Dr. Elijah.

Blythe sighed again and held Lawrence's hand. “Don’t bother.” Pigil niya kay Dr. Elijah nang lapitan nito si Lawrence upang suriin nito ang sugat ng huli.

“Your Highness?” Nagtaka si Dr. Elijah at nagtatanong siya kung tama ba ang narinig niya?

Lawrence passed out because of exhaustion, and he couldn’t stand the pain anymore.

“I’ll cure him.” Sabi ni Blythe saka niya itinapat ang kaliwang kamay sa likod ni Lawrence habang ang isa niyang kamay ay nakahawak sa kamay ni Lawrence. Blythe felt the warm feeling being passed to Lawrence.

Nagulat naman ang mga nakakita.

Her Highness could heal the silver whip. They all thought, gaping at Blythe. Nagtaka pa sila kanina kung paano gagamutin ni Blythe si Lawrence at wala silang ideya na kaya nitong gamutin ang sugat ni King Lawrence.

Dr. Elijah, Cade and Ezra couldn’t help but to be amazed when they saw the King’s back being healed. Nawala ang sugat sa likuran ni Lawrence na parang walang nangyari.

“You have healing ability, Your Highness.” Manghang sabi ni Dr. Elijah.

Tumango si Blythe saka tinakpan ng kumot ang likod ni Lawrence. She sighed. “This is my fault. If I hadn’t broken that bastard’s arm, Lawrence wouldn’t have suffered.”

Cade could feel the guilt of Blythe. “Your Highness, don’t blame yourself. You only protected yourself and His Majesty protected you.” He comforted the Queen.

“But, Your Highness, your curse… you cursed Dean Travis. Will the curse happen in the future?” tanong ni Ezralyn.

Ngumiti si Blythe ng walang emosyon. “Yes. Kapag hindi siya magbabago, ire-reject siya ng mate niya at hinding-hindi siya magkakaroon ng second chance mate. He will live alone in this world until his last breath. It was his punishment for humiliating not only me but also other people. He doesn’t have the right to humiliate other people just because he is rich, and he was an Alpha’s son.” She looked at Lawrence. Umangat ang kamay niya saka hinaplos ang buhok nito.

“His Majesty wanted to change the rules and laws of werewolves. He wanted to implement rules and laws that would be fair to all.” Sabi ni Cade.

“And some rules need to be replaced by fair laws that will apply to everyone. Not only to those who are powerful. The laws should be for those innocent and lower-ranking officials and lower werewolves. To make it happen, the Council I have been hearing – some bunch of old men – needs to be reformed.”

Nagkatinginan ang tatlo.

“What?” Blythe asked.

Ngumiti si Cade. “You and His Majesty have the same concern, Your Highness.”

“But it will be a long fight,” sabi ni Blythe. Unbeknownst to her, she was starting to share Lawrence’s burden.

Umalis na si Cade, Dr. Elijah at Ezra sa silid ng Alpha King at iniwan roon si Lady Blythe. They didn’t expect that Lady Blythe was not an ordinary person. She was extraordinary. Though they didn’t know Lady Blythe’s origin, as long as she stayed with King Lawrence, ordinary or powerful, they would accept her to be the Queen of werewolves and Luna of the Night Moon Pack.

Back inside Lawrence’s room, Blythe couldn’t help but recall what happened in the throne room. Parang naririnig niya pa rin ang hampas ng latigo sa likuran ni Lawrence. Lawrence wanted Dean to apologize to her. At that moment, Lawrence is not the king of werewolves but a man who only wants to protect his mate.

Sinapo ni Blythe ang tapat ng kaniyang puso. “Ren, you protected me. I promise that from now on I will trust you. I will trust you with all my heart and I will never leave you.”

‘He truly cares for you.’ Sabi ni Faye kay Blythe. ‘No man could do what he did. And no man would be willing to be whipped just because they wanted someone to apologize for humiliating the woman he loves.’

Napatango si Blythe sa sinabi ni Faye.

Unbeknownst to Blythe, Lawrence was already awake and heard every word that Blythe said. He inwardly smiled. Thank you, my mate.
