Chapter Seven

At the hospital, Bodhi and Freya are staring in awe at the two, bundles in their arms. Easton, the first born, was larger and hiding his smaller more delicate sister, Runa.      "Well, looks like Raven is most definitely a seer," Bodhi couldn't help but chuckle softly. Esmy looked at her husband lovingly then looked down at babies. She smiled as she looked at them.      "I guess we should call your parents and Freya," she said. She didn't need to call her mother, when she got here she had Adam do that while she got ready. She grinned when she remembered the look on her step father's face when he used the ultrasound machine earlier that day. He had said it didn't feel like the baby had turned into position and wanted to make sure she wouldn't be having a breach birth. They were all shocked to see the second smaller baby in there. Although her mother missed the birth because she was still at the cafe, she was sure to be here soon. She had asked Adam not to tell her mother about Runa, she wanted to surprise everyone.      At that moment, Merideth walked into the room that held her daughter and their new addition, "I'm so sorry Esmy, I wanted to be here." she apologized to her daughter. Bodhi's back was to the door so Merideth still could only see Esmy holding one little blue blanket.      "It's okay momma, come meet Easton," she said as she winked at her husband. He gave her a wink back and turned to his mother in law.      "And then you can meet Runa," he said holding the tiny pink bundle.      Merideth stopped in her tracks, dropping the bag she had in her hand that held food from the cafe for them. Her mouth gaped at the sight of the two bundles, "Two? Raven was right?" witches still mystified Merideth sometimes and having one for a grand daughter was very interesting to say the least.      Bodhi and Esmy grinned, "Yep," We were getting ready to video call them, because Runa is so tiny we are going to have to stay an extra day or two to make sure she's okay. You want to help us surprise them?" Merideth was all for this she loved her extended family.      ***********     "Well, that was awkward," Freya said looking at Alev. He was doing his best not laugh at her flustered expression. This toddler couldn't know that much about Freya and she definitely didn't know about Alev's past or his future.      At the thought of the future, he shook his head, he knew he was going to be alone. Forever. By choice, there was no other option. He couldn't do that to a mate, they deserved someone that was capable of protecting them at all costs.      Ring, ring. Ring ring. The small short beeps interrupted the pair's thoughts indicating that Freya had a video call.      "I'm sorry I need to take this it's my brother and sister in law." Freya apologized to Alev as she picked up the phone and hit the video screen button. "Here sticky face, come see your mommy and daddy." she called to her niece who was happily munching on some taffy that she had convinced  Alev to buy for her at one of the other shops.      "Okay," she climbed onto her aunt's lap to peer into the tiny screen on the phone. "Hi momma, hi daddy!" she said loudly into the phone.     Bodhi and Esmy laughed, she was so excited to see her parents and the new babies. " Are you ready to meet your brother?" they said being careful how they word everything for a minute.      "Let me see!" she exclaimed, trying look around to see the baby on the screen.      "Easy, Raven, you have a bony butt, wiggling on legs," Freya joked she wanted to see her nephew too.      Esmy pulled the blanket back to show the screen the chubby little baby boy sleeping contentedly in his mother's arms.      "He's so handsome," Freya awed at the screen. "When will you guys be ready for me to bring Raven down to actually see her brother?"      The two on the other side of the screen, exchanged glances, "Well, that's where we have run into a situation," they said sheepishly.      "What? Is everything okay?" Freya was immediately concerned. "What happened?"     "Relax, Freya," Bodhi assured her. He was shuffling in his position and the phone was moved so no one on Freya's side could see what was going on. When the phone was brought back down, he continued," This is why we are staying an extra day or two and" he directed the next part to Raven, "I'm sorry punkin, but you'll have to wait till tomorrow at least."      The camera on their side peeked down and showed a very tiny pink bundle, Raven jumped up and down. "See they didn't fib! There was two!"       Freya almost dropped Raven and the phone she was jumping so much and Freya was just shocked!      Raven turned to Alev, then and said. "You can teach my brother how to be a good big brother, you have a sister that came the same time as you."      Alev paled at her statement. Freya looked at him watching the color drain from his face as pain and anguish filled his expression. "Are you okay?" Freya asked gently.     "Yeah, hey, I'm sorry I have to get going. I have a lot of other things I have to get done before I head back home." He said as he got up and gathered his things. "Congratulations on being a big sister, Raven." He left before Freya could say anything more. This man left more questions than answers in his wake. Freya was disappointed over his swift departure. She shook the feeling away, hoping she would get to see him again soon. She turned her attention back to the screen and the new bundles now filling it. They really were adorable. Soon enough they were done with the video screen chat leaving so Esmy could rest.      "Come Raven, let's go get that ice cream. Aunt Freya needs one too after a day like today!" she said with a grin as she took the little girl's hand in hers and off they went to the ice cream parlor. Raven decided to get blue and pink ice cream to take home to celebrate the new babies.      Freya was thinking about Alev as the headed back home. He looked so sad when he left like that. She has never seen hurt like that on man's face. He was so tormented by something in his past. She pushed the thoughts away. She was probably never going to see him again in person.     "Aunty Freya, don't be sad. Alev is going to see you again." Raven assured her aunt absentmindedly. As she licked the ice cream that was running down her arm.      "I don't know, princess, he didn't seem like he wanted to see me again." Freya said, the sadness at the thought of not seeing him creeping into her voice. "Are you ready to be a big sister now and change poopy diapers?" she asked, hoping to change the subject. Raven being only three surely didn't understand what she was saying in her visions or dreams.       The question caused Raven to giggle and say "EEWWWW, I'm not changing poopy diapers. Daddy can do that."          ********      As Alev walked away from the two ladies, his mind went to his sister. "I'm so sorry Chusi, I couldn't save you." he sent to the heavens. And as for Freya, that raven haired beauty was going to be difficult to get out of his mind. He had to though, he wasn't fit to have her in his life. She deserved someone that could protect her, love her, and cherish her. Plus how would she feel knowing he was a dragon? She was so gently with Raven, he could imagine her with her own children. She would be amazing.       His thoughts still going back forth between the guilt of his sister, the beautiful woman he met today, and the three year old that told him he was a broken dragon. He put some of the sleeping potion on his temples and got into the bed. He let the scent of chamomile and lavender put him to sleep.
