Aislinn looked at Circe, then to Raven, her gaze then going to Alev and Freya. She was looking at them all, trying to figure out how the toddler knew about Alev.
Taking the most direct route, she again bent down to her eye level. She took the girl's hands in hers and asked, " What do you mean, little one?" she prodded gently.
Raven, being so young was getting impatient with the adults in the room. "He's brokeded." she said, then she continued, "Aunt Freya is supposed to fix him."
Aislinn, continued to hold her hands, "But how do you know your aunt is supposed to fix him?"
Raven looked at the old woman in front of her, deep down in her belly she knew she could tell this lady. She was supposed to, she reached up and whispered loudly, "Their heart fires match."
Circe gasped, when she heard what Raven said to her friend, "She's so much more than a seer," her hand touching her chest. Aislinn smiled and nodded to her friend.
"How can you see them, Raven?" the elder asked.
Raven, just looked at everyone, she has always seen the heart fires. She just thought everyone could see them. "I don't know, but his is there. He doesn't want it though." she pointed to Alev. Then in a conspiratorial whisper, "That's okay, Aunt Freya doesn't believe it either."
Freya looked around, her eyes zeroing in on the handsome man on the other side of the shop. Raven wasn't wrong. She didn't want to be with a man, she was a firefighter. Men usually don't like their women to be stronger than them physically. So she would rather be at the fire house and hang with the guys there. Yeah, they were usually rude and crude, but it was like having a house full of brothers. Their wives were usually jealous of Freya until they realized she was completely harmless and didn't want their husbands. She was wondering what he was thinking, when she caught his stare. It was then that she remembered she was barely dressed.
"UH, Aislinn, Aunt Circe. I didn't bring a shirt, could I have one from here? I was planning on going right home from the beach. It looks like we are going to be hanging on the boardwalk for a little while today." she said crossing her arms in front of her in an attempt to cover her bust. He unnerved her with his gaze.
"Certainly dear," Circe said to her niece walking to the t-shirts and pulling one up. "This is a rather nice one." she said as she handed her a black shirt with a raven haired lady in front of a chocolate brown dragon that had red stripes on it. The flames in the background giving the dragon a more dangerous appearance than it actually was.
Aislinn looked at Circe, telling her she knew full well what she was doing. Circe grinned, " What? It's great shirt." She mouthed the words, be careful to her. She didn't want to see anyone get hurt. She knew Alev would be leaving soon and she with him. Her time on this earth almost over. She had seen so much in her years, she was lucky. Super naturals aged so much slower that humans, and generally were killed before they died of old age.
Alev looked at the women at the front of the shop. He was disappointed to see Freya put the shirt on. He was really enjoying the view. He wanted to do more than look at her. He wanted to get to know her better, he wanted to see the body in front of him writhing in ecstasy from his touch. He needed to see her again, but how? He shook those thoughts from his head as soon as they were beginning. He didn't need or want a mate and thoughts like that were what led to looking for them.
He also wanted to know how that little girl knew he was broken, much less a dragon. He was lost in his thoughts when Freya turned to him, he saw the shirt. Wow, he thought, that looks like my dragon. I look good on her he thought, smugly. "Get the thought out your head, Alev. She doesn't deserve you," he gave himself a mental shake.
Freya caught him staring at her again, when the shirt covered the top half of her body, she could see the disappointment flash across his eyes. It passed as quickly as it showed up, something was telling her she should spend more time with him. It was a desire almost a need to be closer to him, her feet were taking her to him of their own accord.
"Hello, I'm Freya," she said as she put her hand out to introduce herself to him. " I'm sorry for my niece. She doesn't quite have a full filter yet." she apologized.
He took her hand, "Alev," he said as put her hand to his lips in greeting." And there's no need. She's not wrong. I am broken." he whispered as he kissed the back of her hand. The action causing them to feel the small surge of electricity go through them both. Freya gasped at the contact, Alev gently left go of her hand.
"I'm sorry, that was rather forward of me." he said, trying to hide his surprise. He never expected to feel a pull like this any woman, let alone one he just met.
"Aunty Freya, can we go get ice cream now?" Raven came up to them blissfully unaware of the chemistry flowing between them. Her mind on the promised ice cream. The glint of the vial he dropped catching Raven's eye, she bent down and picked it up.
She opened the vial to smell it, she knew she could do that with anything in the shop. She mustn't ever taste or put anything on with out permission, but she could smell everything there. It was one of her favorite things to do. "MMM, this smells good, but you can't sleep, huh? This is like my momma's but different. She uses it too." she said as she put the lid on it and handed it to Alev.
"Wanna come with us for ice cream?" she asked innocently.
The two exchanged glances, "Uh, I don't know if-" they both said at the same time. This caused Raven to giggle, them to blush and stop.
Circe took matters into her own hands, sometimes these kids just need a little push.
"Of course he does," Circe insisted, she ushered the trio out the door and down the boardwalk. "Bring home a gallon or two to celebrate your new niece or nephew."
Raven yelled, "There's two!"
"Okay little bird, we will see when your momma is done." Freya said as they walked down the boardwalk.
"Good,"Raven said satisfied someone might actually believe her.
The adults were walking in a comfortable silence listening to the ramblings of a happy three year old, when they were about to pass the blown glass shop. Alev had seen them earlier so he knew what was going to be there. He wasn't expecting what came out of the little girl's mouth.
Raven loved the shop so she paused, she was looking at the butterflies and flowers when one caught her eye. "Aunt Freya, you need this one." she said pointing to the one Alev had seen earlier in the day.
Alev swallowed, "That is a very pretty one, isn't it?" He said to them.
Raven looked at him, "It is. and aunt Freya needs to have it. She is looking for a heart."
