The Final Coven

Marissa Michael pulled out and we got onto the main road, heading towards the lake house. “So Marissa right?” He asked and I nodded. “You are a friend of Jackson?” He asked. “She is his mate moron.” We both jumped as she popped up from the back seat, Michael slamming on the brakes and turning to face her. “Sarah Elaine!” He shouted and she punched him in the arm. “Only my mother calls me that!” “What the hell are you doing here?” He demanded. “Running away.” She said matter of factly. “The f**k you are.” He began to turn the car around. “Michael no! Please, I cannot marry that guy. Have you seen him? He may be older than David!!” She cried. “Do you know what that means?” “Sarah if you say it.” He began but she cut him off. “Old man balls!” She shouted and I stifled a laugh. Michael shook his head annoyed. “What if she rode with us to the lake house. Maybe once she calms down, she will come go back with you.” I said quietly to him, laying my hand on his shoulder, and sending out a calming energy. He nodded and sighed as he began driving again, keeping us on track for the lake house. “How do you know?” I ask Sarah, turning to face her. “That youre his mate? It’s pretty obvious my brother is in love with you.” She said and I smiled. “It is?” Michael asked confused and she laughed. “Yes Micahael, as obvious as it is that you are in love with our sister.” He turned red and stuttered as he looked from the road to her in the mirror and back to the road. “Yeah I know about that too. Honestly I know about everything.” She sat back and folded her arms across her chest. “Not everything.” He grumbled. “Yes Michael, everything. You and Elyse, the packs fighting witch hunters, Marissa and Jackson. My father making deals. Everything.” She leaned forward and flicked his ear. “I even know that Marissa isn’t a wolf, but she isn’t human either. She smells.” She stopped and sniffed the air. “Different.” She finished. “I am uh.” I hesitated before just telling them. “I’m a witch.” I braced for their reaction. Michael looked shocked but Sarah broke into a grin. “That is f*****g badass. And youre fated to my brother? Damn moon Goddess has a sense of humor.” She laughed. “Jackson would get mated to someone who isn’t a wolf.” “So you’re engaged?” I asked and she sat back again, looking dejected. “Not technically but I will be. My father likes to marry off his daughters to old men so he can make alliances with other packs.” “I don’t think he chooses old men intentionally.” Michael interjected. “He may as well!” She shouted in return. The tension in the car was back and forth. “I would rather die.” She added. We made it to the lake house and Michael parked, hopping out and coming around to hold the door open for me, while also holding open the back door for Sarah. “How about some tea?” I asked as we headed inside. I went to the kitchen and put a kettle on, while they sat at the table. “Jackson is going to kill us.” Michael grumbled. “He isn’t going to kill anyone. I will protect you.” I winked as I set down two mugs of tea in front of them. Sarah drank hers happily while Michael sipped his politely. We sat together in silence for a bit before I convinced Sarah we should go watch the sun set. We sat out on the adirondack chairs togther, watching the sun setting. Sarah decided she wanted to grab her phone and headed back in. After a few minutes I thought I heard her coming, only to be surprised when a large white wolf approached. I smiled when I recognized him, giving him love and the attention he demanded. “Westley!” Sarah shouted as she came back from the house, flinging herself at him and hugging him. “I missed you.” She ruffled his fur and he leaned into it, loving the attention. “Is he mad?” She asked him and he lowered himself, tucking his tail between his legs. “That’s a yes.” She looked at me and gave him another love petting before standing up. “Let’s get it over with.” She sighed. “Love ya Wes!” She shouted as he shifted. She turned her back and I stood up, handing him my jacket to tie around his waist. “Sarah Elaine.” He gritted through clenched teeth. “What are you doing here?” “No one calls me that but mother!” She shouted. “Mother is going to whoop your ass.” He retorted. “Where does she think you are right now?” He demanded. “I didn’t tell her I was leaving. I just left. I figured your mate was a safe place.” She said pointedly. His eyes widened as he looked from her to me then back again. “She knew.” “Of course she did.” He rolled his eyes, leaning closer and kissing my cheek, before sitting on the chair, pulling me into his lap. “Sarah has an uncanny ability of knowing what everyone has going on.” “I believe it’s called the vents carry voices.” Michael chimed in as he joined us. “I called your mother and said Sarah asked me to run her to pick up some ice cream. I figured I can head out with her from here.” He said. “NO!” Sarah shouted. “ I will not go back.” “Sarah.” Jackson tried to reason with her but she was clearly distressed by the thought. I stood up and hugged her, sending out calming energy. “Maybe go back, for now. Jackson I am sure has a few ideas on how to help you. I can try to help too. I just don’t want your mother to worry about you.” I soothed and she calmed down. Nodding in agreement she turned toward Jackson. “Get me out.” She gritted through her teeth and he nodded as she went with Michael towards the car. We waved as they headed down the driveway. “Well?” I asked as he pulled me back into his lap, the night coming alive with the sounds of owls and crickets. “Some agreed. While some didn’t. We compromised, taking the help of those who are willing but allowing the others to abstain.” He said. “Will your High Priestess accept that?” He asked. “Yeah I think so.” I responded. “I will let them know.” She sat up suddenly, staring behind me with a gasp. I turned to see a portal had appeared behind me. “They have taken Coven Blue. Nothing was left behind.” An older woman said and Marissa stood up, clamping her hand over her mouth. “The map.” She whispered as she took off towards the house, vanishing inside. She reappeared a moment later, carrying her map and bringing it to the woman. “They’ve split up. They are heading to the last two on their route in seperate groups.” The two of them looked over the map together. I moved closer quietly, letting them work. “We can evacuate the covens if we hurry but it’s hard to move them quickly. We need more hands, and barrier spells to slow the hunters down.” “Tell me what you need.” I stepped forward and both women looked up at me. “Tell me.” I encouraged. “High Priestess Yvonne this is Jackson. He has spoken with his father and they have agreed to help us stop these hunters.” Yvonne smiled at me. “Jackson.” She greeted and held out a hand to shake, which I took. “Such eyes.” She commented. “ I can see why you love this one.” She said and Marissa blushed. Love. That word. Marissa had never said it this far, but maybe she felt it more than she let on. “Jackson can your wolves help slow these hunters down while my sister and I evacuate?” She asked and he nodded. “I will need a day to gather the wolvs we need. Is that doable?” She nodded. “We can meet at the house in the center of the map.” I said and they both agreed. “I’ll give you a moment but we need you Marissa.” Yvonne said, backing through the portal and leaving it open for me. Jackson came over to me, cupping my face in his hands. “Promise me you’ll stay in contact?” He asked and I nodded. “I love you.” He said as he kissed my forehead and then place my jacket into my hands, shifting and taking off into the woods. I ducked back towards the house a moment, grabbingmy phone and my bag, and rushing outside, darting into the portal. Yvonne was waiting for me on the other side, and closed it once I was through. We walked side by side towards the village hall. “You can tell him you know.” She said quietly. “It isn’t a bad thing.” “The last person I loved was killed by the same hunters we are now getting ready to fight.” I argued. We got to the door and I reached out, pulling it open and holding it for her. She paused for a moment and looked at me, placing her hand on my shoulder. “Just because you don’t say it, doesnt mean you don’t feel it. If for some reason he didn’t make it, how fair would it to be for him to die without knowing it?” She didnt want an answer and I knew it, as she patted my shoulder and then went inside, calling the meeting to order.
