Chapter 5

" Mimi it's me."

I hold my hands up for her to see. She opens the door wide letting me through.

" You're hurt." Nayyirah walks over to me.

" Yeah. We need to leave now." I sit on the bed.

" Let me heal you first."

" We don't have enough time for this. Just wrap me up. After we get settled you can heal me." Niome nods her head pulling out the first aid kit.

" Nay start packing."

" Okay." I lift my shirt up letting Mimi put gauze and a tape over the wound.

" Take your pants off."

" We don't have time for that. Tape around the pants."

" Fine." Niome wraps the wound then go into the first aid kit handing me two painkillers and a bottle of water. I pop the pills in my mouth then gulp down the water.

" You finished packing?"

" Yeah." I struggle getting off the bed.

" Taylor we can wait a few minutes. Let the painkillers kick in."

" We have to go. There might be another immortal coming." The girls nod their head. I pick up the bag at the end of the bed and sling it over my shoulder. "Ready?"

They shake their heads. I walk to the window moving the curtains. I look around the parking. After a few seconds, I open the door and speed walk across the parking lot into the woods. The girls run on either side of me.

This pain.

I grit my teeth, not slowing my pace. I look behind us to see a black figure chasing us.

" Run faster." The girls run full speed leaving me a couple feet behind them. A stinging pain goes across my right calf.

" Fuck." I keep limping.

I got to make it to the road.

I look behind to see the shadow getting closer.

Fuck.

I try to pick my pace up but I'm in alot of pain. A rope goes around my neck pulling me back. I pull out the kyoketsu-shoge sling it behind me. It bounced off something coming back to me.

Fuck.

I keep getting closer and closer to the shadow. A fire ball went past my head hitting the shadow.

" Come on Taylor." Nayyirah grabs my arms taking the rope off my neck. I rub my neck then start running. She throws two more fireballs before catching up to me. I look behind us to see the shadow running after us. The faster that I run the thinner the woods become.

Come on almost there.

Nayyirah stands at the edge of the forest waving for me to hurry.

A sting of pain hits my back making me scream. I stop for a split second before running again. I run into Nayyirah's arms knocking us into the middle of the road. We stand up as Niome stands on the other side of the road in the forest protected by the werewolves.

" Come on."

She waves us over. A bright light beams in my face blinding me. I hold Nayyirah tight ro my chest as I take the hit of the car. We flip over the car hitting the hood and trunk. I land on my back hitting my head on the ground.

" Taylor. Nayyirah." Noime voice in concern. My eyes close as darkness consumed me.

Kane

" Fuck." I watch Taylor run away from me as I hold my bloody nose.

" Kane." I wave my hand at,my partner, , Tommy.

" What happened to you?"

" I ran into the abandoned building.T he immortal that killed the McKinnon was in there fighting another one." He raised his eyebrow.

" Where is she? The million dollar reward money could be ours." I shake my head walking past him.

" There's a body in the front of the build. Have someone grab it."

" Okay captain."

" You got jokes I see." I walk around the front of the building. A couple squad cars, fire department and an ambulance. I walk over to the fire captain.

" Jerry."

" Kane. What's the deal here."

" Fight amongst immortals. One is dead in the front room."

" They are going to have mortal eyes on us."

" Yeah."

" I'll talk to your dad later about this."

I nod my head heading to my car down the street. I open the driver seat plopping in the seat. I open the glove box grabbing a couple tissues. I wipe the blood dripping from my nose. I stuff some up my nose then pull off. I drive ten minutes to the station. I walk into the station going straight to the Supernatural Department.

I go to my desk taking my jacket on the back of my chair.

"Who whooped your ass?" Nate yells from his desk. I stick my middle finger at him. Captain Mike steps out of his office making eye contact with me.

" Strothers my office."

What now?

I drag myself out of the chair heading to his office.

I walk in the office closing the door behind me.

" Yes captain."

" What happened?"

" Brian William was found dead in the garden of the museum. People were saying that he was walking around with a black woman on his arm all night. Tommy and the other officers stayed while I looked around the area. There was noise coming from an abandoned building a couple of streets down. I walk into the building to two immortal fighting."

" Who were these immortals."

" One was the fugitive and the other was a man."

" How did she get away."

" After she killed the other immortal. I followed her father into the building and caught her. She did put up a fight and ran away."

" She did mess your face up."

Caption Mike chuckles before pulling out a file.

" I need you and Tommy to bring her in."

" Yes sir." I leave the office walking to my desk grabbing my coat.

I walk out of the station to my car. I get in the car calling Tommy.

"Yeah."

" What have you found."

" Nothing much. Just that she had an invite and walked around with William then they went to the garden. She slit his throat and ran without being seen." I pull out of the parking lot.

" Meet me at the pack house."

" Okay." I throw my phone in the passenger seat. I turn the radio on tapping my fingers on the steering wheel. I leave the city getting on the deserted road that is surrounded by the forest.

"Who was the woman?"

I smack my teeth. Every time we are close to a woman he thinks that it's our mate.

" The fugitive that killed the McKinnon's. We can't get involved with her."

" She could be our mate."

"I doubt fate would want a detective and a fugitive together. Get her out of your mind." " She had a nice ass that we could grab."

I shake my head as memory comes back. I close my eyes then open them. I press my break hitting two people.

" Fuck."

I rush out of the car. A girl runs out for the forest going to the two people on the ground.

" Taylor. Nayyirah." She kneels on the ground beside them.

" I'm fine." The girl on top say. The girl from the forest shakes the girl on her back. " She's not responding."

" She could have hit her head. That could have knocked her out." They two girls talk amongst each other.

" I'm detective Strothers." I pull out my badge. They look at each other before they come closer. They check my badge then hand it back.

" Let me take you to a hospital."

" No!" They both shout at me.

" How about my pack hospital?" They stare at each other then me.

" That would be nice. How far is it?"

" Ten minutes." They pick the girl off the ground placing her in the backseat. The one that was on the ground got in the front seat. I link with the pack infirmary to have things set up before we get there.

What were they doing out here so close to the pack land? Are they humans? I look in the rearview to see black shadow with red eyes standing in the middle of the road then disappear.
