"Where have they looked so far?"
" The bulky one ran the entire forest in like five minutes."
" Damn he's that fast. I guess they are the most powerful of us all."
" Yeah. They checked the training grounds and now public buildings and businesses it seems."
" That's good. Thanks Tommy."
" Need me to keep watch."
"No it's fine. Enjoy the rest of your day."
" I'll catch you later. " I take my time walking to my parents house listening to the packs gossip.
" Are they here to start a war."
" No, they must be looking for someone." I listen to the two old ladies as I cross the street. I walk up the two steps to the porch. I open the door walking into the house.
" Mom."
" Don't yell in my house." I walk into the kitchen. Mom stands over the stove sturing a pot. I kiss her on the cheek looking in the pot.
" What you making?" I lean on the counter grabbing a banana.
" Just some jambalaya."
" Who's coming over?"
" Stacy and her daughter." I smack my teeth going to sit in a chair.
"Don't act like that Kain. Maya is single and looking for a mate."
" Mom l don't need you to find my mate." She walks over to me pulling my face into her chest.
" I know but you're getting old. I would like for you to be mated and have a few pups before I pass." I pull away from her " it will happen don't rush it. "
" Okay. Are you staying for lunch?"
" How could I pass up your famous jambalaya. "
She chuckles going back to the stove. I pull my phone out texting dad. I tell him what Tommy told me and what happen at the hospital.
Are you sure that there was no one on the road?
There was the person that was attacking Taylor in the forest but it disappeared before we made it on the territory.
We need to keep her location on the low until we can tell if there's someone watching us.
Okay. A knock on the door breaks me out of my phone.
" Kain can you get the door."
" Yes." I get up from the chair walking slowly to the door. I take a deep breath before opening the door.
" Kain how are you?" Stacey walking into the house giving me a hug.
" I'm good. How about you?"
" I would be good when them immortals leave."
" We all would. Mom is in the kitchen." Maya stands in the doorway holding a tray of cookies.
" I bake these for you."
" Thanks. What kind are they?"
" Chocolate chip."
" Thanks." I take the tray from her, closing the door. I follow Maya into the kitchen placing the tray on the counter.
" What are those?" Mom looks at the tray.
" Maya made cookies for us." Stacy smiles.
" That's nice, thank you." Mom rolls her eyes going back to the stove. I have to cover my mouth to keep from laughing. I take a seat at the table.
" You need any help?" Stacey gets up from the table walking over to mom. The silence at the table was awkward.
" Maya what have you been up to."
"Not much just working on getting my store together."
" You are trying to open a clothing store right."
" Yes. The location that I want is a little expensive but -."
Damn she's annoying right. This the girl that mom wants us to be with? She's pretty but on the small side. Don't think she can take a beat'n. If you know what I mean.
" Kain."
" What did you say," I shake my head.
" I was wondering if you're busy this weekend?" My phone rings, save by the ring.
Real comedian. I pull my phone out of my pocket.
" Strothers."
" Kain its caption I need for you and Tommy to meet me at the station."
" I'll be there in a few."
" Sorry ladies, I'm needed in the station." I get up from the table walking over to mom. I kiss her on the cheek.
" Thanks for lunch ladies." I walk out the kitchen calling Tommy.
" Hello."
" Caption just called us in. I'm on my way to grab you." I walk down the hallway out of the house.
" f**k give me a couple of minutes."
"Hurry up lover boy." I walk to my house spotting the immortals and Derek walking into one of the local businesses.
Derke make sure that they don't harass the pack members.
I will. I make it to my beautiful Audi driving to Tommy's house. I pull up in the garage beeping my horn. A few minutes later Tommy comes out.
" Why do the captain want to see us?" I pull out the garage heading to the city.
" Don't know. He just said he wanted us to come to the station."
" Do you think it's about the immortals being here?"
" It could be." After thirty minutes we pull into the station.
" Let's get this over with," we get out of the car walking into the station.
" What are y'all doing here?" Kim asks behind the front desk.
" We're asking that same question." We past her going into our department. We walk straight to the captians office. I knock waiting a few seconds, " come in."
" You wanted to see us captian."
" Yeah come in." We sit in the chairs infornt of his desk. Caption pulls out a file pushing it infornt of us. I pick it up off the desk opening it.
" What is it?" Tommy glances at the file then looks at the captain.
" That is Dominick Walts. The werewolf that was sentenced to ten years for being the head of the rogues."
" He was the leader that attempted killed the royals werewolves." I flip through the file finding a picture of him.
" Yeah. He's been out for the last three years. The dark places are whispering that he and Imani have been working together for sometime. I want the two of you to look into that."
" We got this captain." Tommy got up from his chair.
"How dangerous is he?"
" He's lethal. He was about to infiltrate as a guards. That night of the attempted murder he was about to kill ten royal guards himself. Dominick made it to the king's chambers and stab him before he was stopped."
" Ten royal guards." Tommy repeated.
" Yes ten. You'll need to be on your s**t looking for him."
" We will captain. What do you want us to do when we find him?"
" Just follow him. We need to see if he's working with Imani."
" Okay," we walk out of the office going to our desk. I look in the database on his current whereabouts. That's close to here. I write the address on a sticky note.
" Kain look what I found." I get up from my desk to Tommy's.
" What is it." He pushes his screen to me showing a newspaper article.
Dominick Walts, the previous beta of the Night crawl pack, kills Alpha William. Walts was quoted saying " he was supposed to be Alpha. He was taking back his birth right." After starting a meaningless war of hundreds of members of the Night crawl pack were killed and thousands were hurt. The pack was under the protection of the royal werewolf family.
" He went after the king because the pack got taken away from him. What did McKinnon take from Walts."
" Don't know. Let me look through some more of these articles."
" Hope your dad comes back with some good information." I go back to my desk looking up more information on Walts. After a couple of hours I back away form the computer.
" I can't find shit."
" We can look in the morning. Let's go." I stand up grabbing my keys off the desk.
" Yeah I'm getting hungry," we leave the station going to my car.
