I get out of bed grabbing my phone. I have a missed call from the captain. I sit up on the bed calling him back.
" Strothers."
" Yes cap."
" We got a tip that Taylor was spotted around your territory."
" I'll tell patrols to keep an eye open for her."
" I'll see you on Monday "
" Okay." I put my phone on my bed.
Who told? There was only one other person on the road that had seen us. I shake the thought out of my head. I get out of the bed going straight to the bathroom. After washing my face and brushing my teeth I go to the kitchen. I start the coffee mechanic leaning against the counter. I run my hands over my face.
I need to talk to the girls and see if Taylor is up. I pour a cup of coffee in a cup taking a sip. I go in the fridge grabbing some left over pizza. I take a few bite picking up my phone. I go through my call log and press Derek's name.
" Kain this is early for you to be calling me."
" I just wanted you to tell all that is on patrol to keep theirs eyes out. Got a call from the chief saying someone might be headed our way."
" Did he say who?"
" Not yet."
"Okay I'll tell the men."
I hang the phone up with a weird feeling in my gut. I shake the feeling off and finish eating. I go up stairs going straight to the bathroom. I brush my teeth and wash my face.
Immortals at the border wanting to see you. I'll be there in a few. Rush to the dresser pulling out a blue t-shirt and jeans. I grabbed some socks sliding my feet in them then put on black pair of Nike.
I grab my phone running out of the door. I ran full speed to the border.
Why would they be here? Derek,dad and two other men stand at the border. On the right was a bulky blond hair man and on the left was a thin brown hair man. I slow down standing next to dad.
" What's going on?"
" Assassins."
" What can we help you with?"
" We are checking territories."
" Documentations." The brown hair goes in his pants pocket pulling out a piece of paper. I see the supernatural seal on the bottom of the paper then take a couple minutes to read.
" Where do you want to start first." I hand the paper back.
" The grounds."
" Derek will show you around." We watch them walk past us.
" I told the nursing staff to move Taylor to the basement."
" I'll go to Grace's house and grab the girls."
" Keep your eyes open." "
I will." I walk to Grace's house trying not to draw any attention to me.
" Kain." Maya waves at me.
" Hey Maya can't talk right now." I continue walking past her. I walk down a couple of blocks before getting to Grace's house. I knock on the door.
" Coming dont break my door." A second Grace opens the door. " Kain." I push my way into the house.
" Why are you here this early?"
" There are two immortals walking the grounds looking for Taylor."
" What."
" You and the girls need to stay in until they leave." Grace pace back and forth.
"Where are the girls?"
" Eating in the kitchen." Grace points down the hallway to the kitchen. The girls sit at the table eating.
" Girls." Their faces snapped at me. Creepy.
" There's two immortals in the territory. The two of you need to stay in the house." " What about Taylor." The oldest pushes her chair away from the table.
" We put her in the basement of the hospital. She'll be fine." The oldest nod her head.
"I'll call Grace when they leave."
" Okay."
I walk back into the hallway stopping in front of Grace. " We need to get them out of here."
" We can't without making everything look suspicious. As long as everyone stays hidden it will be fine."
" Okay." I look at the youngest as she nods her head. I walk back to the front door glancing at Grace's worried face before walking out the door.
Meet me at the hospital. I walk four blocks to the hospital. I walk through the front entrance going to the elevator.
I wave at the workers and patients before getting on the elevator. I press the basement button pulling my phone out seeing a text from Tommy.
Bro why are there immortals here?
They are checking for Taylor. Keep your eyes on them. I get off the elevator going to the locked doors. I press the pin on the lock pad listening for a beep. I open the door walking to the last room at the end of the hallway.
" Why were you sent to kill the McKinnon's?" My eyes land on Taylor sitting up in the bed as I walk farther into the room. We stare at each for a few seconds before dad clears his throat standing against the wall.
" Power over the immortals and werewolves." Dad walks over to the end of the bed.
" How do you know this?"
" Kate McKinnon." Taylor's eyes didn't waiver as she spoke.
" Do you know who's all working together to do this?"
" Imani and some werewolf." I raise my eyebrow " how do you know that it's a werewolf?"
" He attacked us in wolf form when the girls and I escaped."
Do you believe her?
Her eyes haven't averted from us. We need to talk to the girls after the other immortals leave.
We'll meet at Grace's at eight.
" Anything else you want to know?" She folds her arms across her chest.
" Yeah how were you able to not get caught?"
" Contrayer to your belief I'm not a bad person. Some of those assassinations were to kill people that terrorize communities." Dads phone rings " hello." He steps out leaving the two of us only. I stare at the dark bruise on her neck.
" Do you know who attacked you in the forest?"
" No but that energy they emitted felt familiar." The nurse walks in with a few things.
" I need to clean your wounds, change the bandages and administer medication." I sit in the chair at the end of the bed.
I watch the nurse lift Taylor's gown. She removes the first bandage and cleans it. Taylor grunts in pain. I sit up straighter in the chair. After putting a new bandage she moves to the wound on her leg. Taylor means in pain as the nurse cleans the wound.
" Kain." I look over at the door
." Come in the hallway." I get out of the chair looking at Taylor before I step out of the room.
" Your growling got the nurse scared to touch that girl."
" Was I."
" Yeah." Dad looks at me funny.
" I'll have a couple men down here with her. Your mother wants to see you today." " Okay I'll see you at the house." I walk down the hallway to the elevators.
What was all that?
She was hurting Taylor.
You heard her grunts and moans.
That doesn't answer why you growled at the nurse.
I just did. I shake my head getting on the elevator.
I get off spotting Derke and the immortals by the front desk. I walk over to them.
" What are y'all doing here?"
" We want a list of everyone that has been admitted in the last six months." The smaller immortal stares at me.
" That's against HIPAA law. Now if you get a warrant from the supernatural council then we would gladly hand them over to you." The bulker one smacks his teeth. Tommy sits in a chair by the door.
" I'll see you gentlemen later gotta go check on my mom." I walk around them outside the hospital with Tommy following me.
