I park in front of Tommy's house," I'll see you monday." Tommy gets out and I drive to Grace's house. I get out of the car seeing dad's car already here. I walk to the front door knocking. I scan the area before knocking again.
" Boy if you don't hurry up." Dad opens the door. I walk in closing the door behind me. I follow my dad to the dining room. Gabe, Grace and the girls are at the table. " What took you so long to get here?"
" Captain called me and Tommy in for a new case." I take a seat next to the girls.
" Hes keeping you busy."
" Yeah" The table had chicken, greens, macaroni and cheese already on the table. " This looks good Grace." She smiles taking a seat. The table was quiet as everyone fixed their plates.
" What are you two young ladies name's." Dad takes the first approach speaking to the girls.
" I'm Niome and this is my little sister Nayyirah."
" Nice to meet you. I'm alpha James. This is my son Kaine and Gabe my beta."
" Nice to meet y'all." We all start eating " Niome I need to ask you and your sister some questions about Taylor."
" For what?" Nayyirah places her hands on the table. The markings in her arm start to change color.
Dad she's ready to pounce. Talk to her calmly.
" We are trying to verify if what she has been telling us is true." Niome grabs her sister's hand.
" What is it that you want to know."
" The night your parents died. Did you see who killed them?" Niome looks dad dead in his eye.
" Don't know who killed our dad. Some blonde woman that Taylor was with shot our mother in the head. Taylor shot her in the chest then told us to run." The room was quiet for a few seconds.
" Was there another person there also?"
" A man. He attacked us in the house then chased us to the road changing into a wolf."
"What else do you remember from that night." The girls was quite until Nayyirah speaks up.
" I remember that dad was on the phone arguing. Dad was telling whoever was on the other line that he won't step down." Niome nods her head " that night mom was supposed to take us to stay in one of the safe houses."
Would Dominick and Imani be behind this. " What was left of the housing staff did say that Gabriel was receiving disturbing phone calls for weeks before the incident." Dad turns to Gabe " what else did you find out."
" There's separate party looking for the girls as we speak. In four months there is going to be a supernatural council meeting about who will become the next royals for the immortals. If the oldest is not on the throne by her sixteenth then she will forfeit the throne." Nayyirah burts out " that's in three months Niome."
" Yeah." We all look over at her.
" We need to take her to the council now. " Gabe pushes his chair back.
" No we don't who can be trusted. We will wait until the night before her birthday and take her to the throne." We all nod our heads.
Taylor
After Kaine and alpha left. I didn't hear regular hospital noise.
Where am I? I get out of the bed walking slowly to the door.
" Hey." A man is sitting outside of my door. " What are you doing out of bed?"
" I just wanted to stretch my legs."
" Funny. Get back in bed."
" I'm going." I glance down the hallway before going back in the room.
Did they put me on lockdown. They're going to take me Imani. Damn. I turn the tv on the news. The twelve oclock news is on.
In a couple of hours they'll give me lunch soon. I need to leave around dinner time. The afternoon passes with only the nurses coming in and out.
Where are the girls and Grace? Did they take the girls? I watch the nurse bring my dinner tray." Thank you."
" Your welcome. I'll be back in a hour to give you pain meds."
" Okay." I take top off as the nurse leaves. I push the tray away. I get out of bed tightening the gown before going to the door.
" Excuse me." The guard looks up from his phone.
" Can you get me a lemonade please."
" Yeah." He gets up walking down the hallway through the double doors. I wait a few seconds before walking to the doors. I go to the elevator pressing the up button. I tap my foot waiting for the elevator. The door opens with no one on it. I get in pressing one, I move to the corner. The door opens, I peek my head out of the elevator waiting for people to walk pass. I turn the corner to the front desk.
The guard and the receptionist are talking. I turn around going back to the elevator.
" Ma'am, do you need help." A nurse walks over to me.
" No I'm fine. I just need to get out of my room."
" Okay." She walks down the hall. I go into an open room closing the door behind me. The lottery is on the tv. I walk around the table going to the unlocked lockers finding a pair of green scrubs. I throw them on placing my gown in the trash. I run my fingers through my hair.
Fuck shoes. The door opens and I run to the table facing the tv.
" Hey." I look behind me "hey." A female walk over to the table placing her duffle bag on the table.
" Has it been a busy night?"
" It's been quite so far."
" Let's hope it stays that way." She pulls her phone out.
" Fuck." She runs out the room leaving her bag. I open her bag,digging through the clothes, finding a pair of black Nike. I grab them zipping the bag up then sliding my feet in the shoes. I walk out the room head to the front doors. I walk past the receptionist desk " have a good night."
" You too." I rush out the door down the street.
Where did Grace said her house was again. Red house with white flowers. It's close to the hospital. I walk farther down the street when I felt a chill up my spine. I climb a couple of branches then lean against the tree.
" Nichole said they were taken here."
" Where could they hide two kids and an injured woman." I lean forward to see Ron and Tyler standing under the tree.
" You want to stay another day and keep looking."
" Nah, well have people keeping an eye on this place. The oldest is going to have to leave to take her throne."
" Yeah." They walk down the street.
I'm going to kill her. I wait a couple of minutes before climbing down the tree. I walk the opposite direction going around the hospital.
Where's the red house. f**k. The more walking I do the pain in my leg and side gets worse.
" Ma'am." s**t. I continue walking until I get tapped on the shoulder.
" Ma'am."
" Yes." I turn around to face a black man with his hair in a man bun.
" If you see a woman in a hospital gown. Be cautious of her."
" I will." He steps closer to me smelling my scent. He looks at me for a second, " have a good night."
" You too." I pick my speed up dragging my leg down the street.
Where's her house? I continue walking down the street as more people litter the streets.
Fuck their fast. I look at the house not seeing a red one. I walk farther down when a man walks down the street towards me. I look behind me to see another man walking towards me. I run through the front yard going to the back when I run into somebody.
" Fuck." I push off the person trying to run when they pull my back to their front.I struggle to get out of the person's hold. " If you stop struggling. I'll take you to see the girls." I stop waiting to be released. After a few seconds he removes his hands. I turn around facing Kaine's partner.
