I park the car in the two car garage at my parents house.I get out of the car walking to the door. Tommy runs to my side.

" Listen to me for a second." I sigh turning to him.

" We can't keep her here for a long time before someone notices who she is. We need to make a decision fast."

"We also can't be in a haste when it comes to someone's life. Those are the daughters of McKinnon. They are alive and well. We need to talk to girls and Taylor and piece this together before we make a decision."

Tommy nods his head in agreement. I open the door smelling chicken cooking.

" Mom." I walk in the kitchen.

" Don't yell in my house." Mom walks in the kitchen with her reading glasses on.

" How are you doing?" I pull her into a hug kissing her forehead.

" You would know if you come visit often."

" Hey Mrs. Chrystal." Tommy gives mom a hug.

" I was just here last weekend." I take my jacket off placing it on the kitchen chair.

"It seems so long ago since you have been here."

" Mom, you're over exaggerating."

" If I had some grandbabies, I won't feel all alone." I shake my head walk over to the stove. I lift the lid on the pot.

" Don't dig your dirty fingers in my food. You can wait until your dad comes home to eat." I suck my teeth before placing the lid down. I walk into the living room sitting on the la-z-boy while Tommy sits on the couch. I grab the remote putting on ESPN. " Are you coming over for the game Sunday."

" Yeah make sure Susan has that special dip."

" You know she's going to make that." I nod my head looking at the tv. My mind wanders to Taylor's battered body laying in the hospital.

Who did that to her. Those red eyes. What was that?

We need to protect her.

K she's one of the strongest immortals. Don't think that she needs our help and she's not our mate K. K growls low before going away.

" Kaine."

" Yeah."

" Your dad is here." I get up walking behind Tommy in the kitchen. Mom, dad and Gabe, the beta, are already at the table.

" Kain."

" Beta Gabe how are you?

" Good." Tommy walks over a Gabe giving him a hug.

" How haveyou been ?"

" Good how about you?"

" Just an old man waiting for them grandbabies."

Tommy just laughs taking a seat at the table. Mom place plates in front of us then we say grace.

" James why did you call me here tonight?"

" We have a little problem in our hands."

" What's that?"

" Taylor, the wanted immortal, is hurt in the infirmary."

" Do you need me to take a few men and take her to Imani?"

" No that's the problem." Grabe raises his eyebrow.

" She has two teen girls with her that can possibly be the McKinnon girls."

" Do they have the mark?"

" Kaine said they do." The room gets quiet. " Something fishy is going on. She was supposed to have killed the girls as well. Someone's lying. I need to do some further investigation on this."

"I need you to take a few men and go talk to the councils about this."

" I'll have a team out in the morning." The rest of dinner went by with casual talk. Dad and Gabe stands up.

" I'll be out by eight."

" Thanks Gabe. Have a good night."

" You too Alpha and Luna." Tommy follows behind his dad out the door.

" Drink?"

" Yeah." I follow dad to the den. He pours two glasses of scotch handing me one. Dad takes a sip then rubs his forehead.

" Kaine, if they are the McKinnon girls. Our pack is part of the royal guards, we are sworn to protect them."

" I know dad. The Strothers has taken the vow to protect the McKinnon's since the moon goddess left earth." I nod my head taking a sip.

" Dad, we'll l figure this out tomorrow when we talk to the girls and hopefully Taylor will be up."

" Yeah." I finish my drink, putting it on the bar." I'll see you in the morning." I give dad a hug before walking to the kitchen. Mom just closed the dishwasher.

" Mom I'm leaving." I hug and kiss mom in the cheek. " Love, baby."

" Love you, too."

I walk out of the house to my car. I drive five minutes to my house thinking about the situation.

Did Taylor kill Gabriel and Rain?

Why did she take the girls?

Now she's being hunted by the council but other bounty hunters.

I pull up in front of my house. I get out of the car heading to the front door. I lock the door as my phone rings. Maya's name appears on the screen. Kay growls seeing her name.

" Hey, Maya." I unlock the door walking in the house.

" Hey, Kaine." I roll my eyes at how sexy she was trying to sound. I drop the keys on the table by the door.

" Maya what can I help you with?" I walk up the stairs to my bedroom.

" Just wanted to know if you needed a little company tonight."

" Im fine Maya."

" You sure?"

" Yeah have a good night." I hang up putting the phone on the dresser.

I strip out of my clothes while walking to the bathroom. I turn the shower on hot stepping under the shower head. I let the water pour over my head. I close my eyes relaxing under the water. My mind takes me to the first time I ran into Taylor two years ago.It was my first day on the job. I was sent by my partner Cook to me to grab coffee and donuts from 7- eleven. I walk in bumping to the most beautiful brown skin woman I ever seen in a yellow hoodie. My heart was racing fast and palms started sweating.

" Sorry." She looks at me for a few seconds before running away.

Did I do something wrong? I get two cups of coffee and a couple of donuts. I get in the quad car handing my partner a coffee. There's a 10:20 on Franklin and South.

" We got some action now, rookie." Cook speeds down the street.

" What's a 10:20?"

" Two immortals are fighting." I nod my head. We pull up in front of a motel that supernaturals frequent a lot. We get out of the car just as a bed was thrown through the second floor window.

" Let's go break this up." Cook grabs his gun out of his holster. I follow behind him up the stairs. Cook kicks the door in pointing his gun. The room was a mess with broken tv, dresses and holes in the wall.

"Put your hands up." Cook yells walking farther into the room. A bulky man turns to us with blue tattoos on his neck. Across the room stands a short figure with a yellow hoodie on. In a blink of an eye Cook was pushed towards the wall.

"Fuck." I point my gun aiming for his chest. He dodges running full speed towards me. I drop the gun on the floor bracing for the attack. We both go through the next room. I pick him up slamming him on the floor.

I release K's strength getting on top of him. I kept punching him until the light on his neck went from a neon blue to black.

" Cuff him." Cook hands me the cuffs. I flip the guy over cuffing him.

" I'm going to wait for backup. You go after the other guy. He jumped out the window." I nod my head getting off the man. I run out the room going around the back. I run down the back road seeing the yellow hoodie. I let K take over catching up to him. I grab his shoulder pulling him to me. I take the hood off seeing the girl from earlier.

Guess I won't be pursuing this one.

" You're under arrest." I grab my cuff when she flips me on my back.

" Fuck." I jump up charging toward her then stop gripping my stomach. I look down to see blood pouring into my hand. I look over at her holding a blade connected to a chain in her hand.

" Sorry ." She blurs past hitting the back of my head. Darkness consumes me. I shake my head clearing my mind of that memory. I wash up then get out the shower. I walk into the bedroom putting on some boxers and shorts before getting in bed.
