Erick’s P.O.V

What the f**k? Where the hell did she hear about all this and who told her? I wanted to be the one to explain things to her at the right time, when I thought that she would be able to handle it better, but from how she’s talking and keeping herself composed I guess this is the right time.

“Today in the store a lady came in to see me, claiming to be my aunt. I knew that she wasn’t the second I laid eyes on her and thought that she just wanted money, but then she said she needed to talk to me. She said that she had something important to talk to me about, so we went into my office and spoke. She told me all about the supernatural, which didn’t bother me because I already knew about it, but then she told me that I was in danger, that some guy is wanting me as his mate and he is so determined to have me that he will mark me over your mark, making it disappear.” May replied and I growled, making her look right at me. I didn’t mean to growl and startle her like that, but when she mentioned she was in danger and some guy wanted to mark her as his I saw red and lost my composure.

“Sorry, I was just…nevermind. What else did she say?” I asked, trying to calm down.

“She told me her story about how this guy did the same to her, even though she never wanted him, but her mate didn’t believe her. He thought they were sleeping together and after there was a fight he rejected her. She told me that she is a wolf, so what the hell are you and how come you look like a human? Was that you up in that tree the other day, while I was on the nature trail?” May asked, shocking me even more. How the hell did she know it was me up in the tree? I cleared my throat to speak, unsure of what I was going to say, but then May started speaking.

“Please don’t lie to me because if you do then I’m going to get up and walk out of here. Don’t try me on this because I know I’m only twenty minutes away from home and I’ll find my way back even if it's on foot. I promise that you will never see me again.” May said and I sat there shocked yet again. After everything she just said she wasn’t even scared, she just bluntly called me out on everything and even threatened me at the end. Well, it wasn’t a threat, it was a promise and I knew that it was one she would keep, but I couldn’t lose her. Screw it, if she wants to find out then I will tell her the truth and see what happens after.

“Well, since you put it that way then yes, we are the supernatural. Walter and Susan are werewolves, they are the Alpha and Luna of their pack, meaning they are the leaders, whereas me, my family and my pack are different. We are what are called werecats. We can shift into animals, for me and my parents, we shift into white tigers, but there are also jaguars, leopards, panthers and many others. As humans believe in God, we believe in the Moon Goddess, she is our creator, our mother and the one that gives us our life long mates. We don’t choose our mates, she decides who we are mates with and well, that night when you found me I was in my cat form.” I replied, but she looked confused.

“You mean when you were up in the tree?” May asked, but I shook my head.

“No, I mean when you first found me when I was injured. I was in my cat form when I ran out onto the road and straight in front of a car. Your car. I went flying like superman through the air and shifted back into my human form before I hit the ground. You found me and came to me when I was in my human form, but your scent was intoxicating and I knew that you were my mate, then you touched me and it only confirmed it for me. When I went to the hospital and you followed I badly wanted to tell you, but I was still hurt and couldn’t. Werebears, werewolves and werecats heal so much faster than humans, but I had to wait a few days before I could see you because I had to make it look like I was a human, even though I had already healed the same day that you had found me. It was killing me not being able to see you, so my mom came to see you instead, to figure you out and the day she met you she knew right away that she liked you. Believe it or not I was actually there that day too, but I had to keep my distance so I waited in the parking lot and I was just inches from coming inside when my father told me not to. I waited for my mom to come out, but it was taking forever and then when she did come out I saw why. She was loaded up with things she had bought, so I helped her load her car up and we left. There you go, now you know.” I said, but the whole time May sat there looking at me with her mouth wide open.

“So it was you that I hit? I thought that it was some kind of animal.” May said and I chuckled.

“Well it sorta was.” I replied and she only shook her head at me.

“That scared the hell out of me, I thought I killed it. Well at least now I know that it was you and you are alive and well. So, what else do I need to know? Can you change into a cat?” May asked and I nodded.

“Yes, I can. As you can see my room is huge, well all the others are huge too so that if we end up shifting for the first time in our room then at least it will be big enough. Come on, let's go outside and I will show you.” I replied, getting up from the chair, but then I heard as she gulped hard and I knew that she was nervous about this. I held out my hand for her and she took it, then I led her out of my room and downstairs.

“Mom, dad, I have told May everything and I’m going to show her.” I said, mind-linking my parents and then ending the link. We walked through the back door of the pack house and I was surprised to see my parents waiting for us outside. I gave them both a confused and curious look, but they both shook their heads at me and smiled.

“We wanted to be here for you both when this happened.” My dad said, mind-linking me.

“Alright May, please don’t go screaming and running away, okay. Just remember that I won’t hurt you and my parents are right here with you.” I said and all she did was nod as my parents stood next to her.

May’s P.O.V

This was all bullshit, I thought to myself as I watched on. Nothing was going to happen, they were just pulling my leg or they were delusional, I thought, but then I started hearing weird noises. It sounded like bones breaking and my eyes went huge as I stood there watching Erick’s body twist and convulse. He screamed out in pain and I wanted to run to his side to help him, but Hope and Rune quickly held my hands.

“He will be alright, he has only done this a few times, so it will be rough, but he knows this is what he has to do.” Hope whispered to me and all I could do was watch on as Erick’s arms and legs started to break and shift. He fell on the ground, but the whole time his eyes never left me and I didn’t move a muscle or scream, I just kept looking at him. When it was finally over a huge white tiger stood where Erick had and I still didn’t move a muscle, but now I wasn’t blinking either. I had to make sure that all of this was real and that everything my parents had told me when I was younger was true. Hope and Rune let go of my hands and I slowly walked towards him until I was face to face with his huge tiger head. I reached up and ran my fingers through his incredibly soft fur and then looked back at Hope and Rune.

“So you can do this as well?” I asked, but before they could reply I felt a sharp pain on the back of my head. I hadn’t even seen anyone coming out of the house, but when I turned to see what had caused it and there was a girl standing there looking at me like she was crazy.

“Who the hell are you and why did you hit me? You have five seconds to explain.” I said, through gritted teeth.

“Oh, he didn’t tell you. We were bed buddies before he met you and I was going to be the future Luna of this pack, but then you came around and he forgot all about me.” The girl said, smirking and making me look at Erick. I watched as he shifted back into his human form and pulled on a pair of shorts his father handed to him, then he came and stood next to me.

“Caroline, I didn’t promise you anything. I told you we were just having fun and that’s it.” Erick said, but the girl I now knew as Caroline rolled her eyes at him.

“Oh please Erick, you can't tell me that she can please you like I can. She's human, Erick. What can she do for you? She can’t have your kits, she will die. She’s not good enough or strong enough.” Caroline said and I’d heard enough. This was my man and I wasn’t about to give him up to a skank like her. I turned so that I was fully facing her and swung my fist as hard as I could, punching her in the stomach and then I kicked her in the head, causing Caroline to go down on the ground.

“Listen up little girl and listen good, Erick is my man and he has already said that he didn’t want you, so even if you did beat me he’s still going to want me.” I said, kneeling down beside her. I grabbed a handful of her hair and pulled her head back so that she was now looking at me.

“So, I want to tell you that if you want to try me again then I would think twice about it because I don’t play nice with skanks.” I said, balling up my fist and punching her right in the face. She was now completely knocked out and all I heard was Hope laughing behind me.

“Well Erick, you got yourself one hell of a strong mate on your hands.” Hope said as I stood up.

“I sure do.” Erick replied, walking over to me and wrapping his arms around me.

“I can’t believe you did that.” Erick whispered, smiling at me.

“I’m not going to let her hit me for no reason, I’ve been fighting all my life, so I’m used to it.” I replied, shrugging. Erick gave me a confused look and I knew that he was wondering what I meant by that and from the look on his face he was going to leave it for now which I was grateful for, but I knew that he would ask me at a later date. Erick hugged me and kissed my cheek as we made our way back into the house. I honestly didn’t care that Erick had slept with someone else, that was before we were an item, so as long as he didn’t do it while we were together then that was his own business and it was in the past.
