Chapter 32

Updated. May’s P.O.V I looked away from the window I had just thrown Caroline through and looked at Erick. I couldn’t believe what I had heard, but I needed to be sure it was the truth. Erick looked at me curiously as I walked over and stood in front of him, keeping eye contact with him the whole time. “So how long have you two been sleeping together? How long was she in your room before I came here to see you?” I asked, but Erick just shook his head. “Listen May, I really don’t have to explain anything to you, but you are really cutting the cake right now and I’m about fed up here. As you know Caroline was an old flame, well not even that, we fooled around a bit back in the day, but then you came along and it all stopped. As for the question of how long she was here, well you heard everything, so you should know. I could smell your scent a mile away, so why are you here, May? Do you want to talk to me like s**t again or are you just here to eavesdrop on a conversation that was none of your business because I was handling it just fine without you?” Erick replied and I just stood there listening. I was confused as to why he was talking to me like this, but I just shook my head and didn’t say a word, then after a couple of minutes I decided to speak. “I have heard that if wolves don’t want to be with their mate anymore they can do something. I’m not sure what it is, but I know they can. I came up here to tell you that I was going back to the hotel room to see if I can find any more clues, but I think you have your hands full here. I’ll go alone, it’s Sunday anyway so I’m free all day.” I said, my voice a little shaky, but I needed to say this. Erick looked a little stunned, but I held my head up and walked out of the room. Erick’s P.O.V She wanted me to reject her? I know I had thought about rejecting her last night, but I was angry and hurt that she was treating me like that. That’s just crazy. I followed her out of the room and down the stairs, grabbing her arm just as she reached the bottom and turning her to face me. I pulled her closer to me and held her tightly, not wanting to let her go. “I’m not going to reject you, but I’m not going to let you treat me like s**t either. We don’t do that here, humans might, but we don’t. If you want to go back to the hotel, then alright, we’ll go.” I said, just as my dad and mom came out of the office. “Alright then, let's go.” My dad said, obviously listening in on our conversation. They walked ahead of us as both May and I stared at them in shock. “Are you coming, we already have the car ready?” My mom called out over her shoulder and we both chuckled as we followed them. We got into the huge black SUV and drove off towards the hotel. May’s P.O.V When we got to the hotel Erick walked in front of me and we headed up to the mutts room. Erick reached the door first and just as he reached for the door knob I noticed something weird. There was something that looked like a fishing line with a hook around it attached to the door handle. s**t. “ERICK, NO STOP!!!” I shouted, just as Erick was about to turn the door knob. I ran at him and pushed him out of the way just as the shot gun went off, missing us by inches. I fell on top of Erick and looked into his eyes, then I got up, brushed myself off and helped him up too. We carefully opened the door and saw the shotgun was rigged to fire when the door knob was turned. I shook my head, knowing that the mutt girl had obviously been back here and we had missed her. We started looking around the room again, but when I turned the light on near the bed I saw that the wall had writing on it and it looked like it had been carved into the wall. “I’m coming for my book, bitch.” I read out loud and quickly gained Erick, Hope and Rune’s attention. “Then come on, b***h, bring it.” I muttered to myself, but then we heard sirens. “Come on, we have to get out of here before the cops get here or we will have a lot of questions to answer.” Hope said and we hurried out of the room. Someone must have called the cops after the gun went off, but if we were here when they came then God knows how we would explain why the gun was rigged to fire. We got back into the black SUV, leaving the scene and driving back home. Unknown Female Mutt’s P.O.V I was watching the whole scene unfold and smirking when the gun went off, but then I saw that neither of them was injured and that pissed me off. I heard what she said when she saw the writing on the wall and it made me laugh that she thought she could go up against me and win. “Almost got you, b***h, but I’ll get you next time.” I said to myself as I watched them flee the room when they heard the sirens. I watched them drive away and then I went into my own room, laughing to myself as I did so. They seriously thought that those clothes were mine and that I stayed in the same room as my brother? Er wrong. Those clothes were just more of his trophies, he had plenty of women going in there, but never leaving. I walked up to my room and shut the door behind me, but when I turned around I was slammed against the wall. “ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR f*****g MIND, KILLING HUMANS AND GOING AFTER THE BIGGEST f*****g WERECAT FAMILY?!!!!!” He shouted at me as his hand went around my neck. “WHO THE f**k TOLD YOU TO KILL HUMANS?!! I f*****g MADE YOU SO I CAN FORM A PACK!! I NEVER TOLD YOUR BROTHER TO f*****g KILL HUMANS!!! YOU ARE ONE STUPID b***h, CAROL AND NOW THAT HUMAN KNOWS THAT YOU KILLED HER ONLY FAMILY THAT CARED ABOUT HER!!! NOW THEY ARE AFTER YOU AND IF THEY FIND OUT ABOUT ME THEN THEY WILL f*****g COME AFTER ME!!!” He shouted, spit flying from his mouth and onto my face. I jerked Cooper's hand from my neck and growled at him. “MY BROTHER WASN’T STUPID HE WAS JUST CONFUSED!! YOU LEFT US AFTER YOU BIT US AND WE HAD TO LEARN EVERYTHING ON OUR OWN!! HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT WE WEREN’T ALLOWED TO KILL HUMANS?!!!” I shouted back at him, but he just shook his head and stepped away from me. “Because I told your brother not to kill humans. Six years ago when I bit you and your brother I told him never to kill any human, that is a strict rule. Never kill a human unless they are trying to kill us first and that goes for humans as well. They cannot kill us unless we try to kill them first and we stand by that. Carol, you have to make things right.” Cooper replied, but I shook my head. “I’m not making anything right, she killed my brother and I will….” I said, but he cut me off. “AND YOU KILLED HER f*****g PARENTS!! HOW DO YOU THINK SHE FEELS RIGHT NOW LEARNING IT FROM YOUR STUPID BROTHER f*****g TROPHY BOOK?!!!! YOU HAD BETTER MAKE THIS RIGHT OR YOU WILL NOT BE IN MY PACK!!!” Cooper shouted at me, making me sigh. “I don’t know how to make this right, Cooper. Like you said I killed her parents, so how the f**k do I make this right?” I asked, feeling annoyed, but also defeated. I knew that he was right, but I didn’t want to say it out loud. “I don’t know, but you better f*****g figure this s**t out and fast.” Cooper replied, opening my hotel room door. He left and slammed the door shut behind him as I flopped down on the bed, holding my head in my hands. “What the hell am I going to do now?” I asked myself, lost in all this madness and chaos. I wanted to avenge my brother, but at the same time I had no idea that he had been told not to kill humans. I was also a hypocrite, I mean how could I be angry at her for killing him when I had killed her parents first. This was one hell of a s**t storm and I had no idea how to get out of it.
