Erick’s P.O.V

I couldn’t hear what was being said on the phone because whoever was calling was talking so quietly that even my werecat hearing couldn’t pick it up, but then May got angry. I felt her tense beside me and then she threatened whoever it was, confusing me. She told me what was said over the phone and then got up, rushing over to Caroline’s house and I tried to stop her, but she jerked away from me. I wasn’t trying to stop her because Caroline could get hurt, far from it. I was trying to stop her because she could get hurt. May seemed to forget that Caroline could shift and kill her, but once we got up to her house May knocked on the door and then dragged Caroline out of the house as soon as she opened it. Caroline stood there in shock, but before I could even question her about what was said May punched her right in the face. Everyone heard the screaming and soon came out watching what was going on. May stood there and looked at everyone before clearing her throat.

“I got a call today from Carol, telling me that dear old Caroline is trying to kill me and your future Alpha Erick. She paid Carol ten grand to get rid of us because she couldn’t have him. Are you going to lie and say you didn’t because I can call her back and put her on speaker?” May said, making sure that everyone heard her. We all looked at Caroline, but she just shook her head and smirked.

“Oh I’m not going to lie, I hired her to kill you, I was the one that told those mutts to kill humans so they could join a stupid pack. Everyone here knows that you’re not worthy to be the Luna of this pack. You’re human, you’re weak, how can you help lead this pack? Erick will have to protect you in every war, every battle, every fight. How are you going to have his kits when you will be killed giving birth? You’re just a worthless human. I challenge you for your future title of Luna.” Caroline said and I could see May tense, her fists clenching by her sides. I knew that she was tired of being called weak, especially when she wasn’t.

“I sure as hell have kicked your ass several times, so how am I weak?” May said, even more pissed off. The whole pack was shocked by Caroline and started shaking their heads at what she had said, denying everything. If they honestly thought that my mate was weak then they were going to be shown differently and if they still thought the same after then I would personally deal with them. There was no way that my mate was going to be put down by anyone, especially not the pack that she was going to be helping to protect.

Caroline’s P.O.V

I looked at Erick for help, but he just shook his head at me and I could see that what I’d said had made him even angrier. How could he not see that May was weak, that she was no good for him, that he would be better with me and no one else?

“Caroline, even if you did win I wouldn’t want to be with you. You tried to kill me and I never wanted you. I told you that I would never buy the cow when she gives her milk for free. I never promised you a damn thing, so…” Erick said, hurting me and pissing me off, but then May butted in, just like she always has.

“Erick, hush. You sound like a crazy man talking like that. Caroline, if you think that you can beat me then let’s do this. You can go in any form and if you beat me then you can kill me to get rid of me for good or I’ll leave. The choice is yours, but I’m not afraid of death, so when and where, b***h?” May said and I smirked. This was going to be way too easy, she was going to go down and had given me the perfect get out of jail free card.

“How about now? No rules, I can shift into my cat and fight or be in my human form and fight.” I replied and May just shrugged. Didn’t she know who she was dealing with and that she was going to lose?

“I don’t give a damn if you shift into a rabbit, if you want to fight then let's fight. I don’t really care what happens, but you heard Erick and after this he might not even want me, so bring it on, let’s do this.” May said, as a crowd formed around us.

Hope’s P.O.V

Rune and I heard the commotion going on outside, so we decided to see what was happening, but when we got out there we were shocked to see May and Caroline facing off against each other.

“Erick, what’s going on?” I asked, coming to the front of the crowd and standing next to him. Erick sighed and then began to tell us about the phone call May received and everything else that had happened since then.

“It was Caroline that has been trying to get rid of us, she was behind the shotgun that nearly killed me, she was the one that told the mutts they had to kill humans to join a pack.” Erick said, shocking us both. Rune and I were so furious with her that I was about to get into the circle and rip Caroline apart, but Rune stopped me.

“Rune, what the f**k are you doing?” I asked, but Rune held me to him and shook his head.

“Love, this is May’s fight. I want to kill this girl too, but she challenged May for her title and that can’t be changed. This is May’s fight, if Caroline wins then we will do something, but let May try first.” Rune replied and I nodded. I managed to calm myself down with the help of Rune’s touch, but then I watched as Caroline shifted into her tiger and I knew right there and then that May was done for. How can I just stand by and watch this? I thought as I watched Caroline’s tiger circling May, twitching its tail and stalking closer to her. I looked at May and saw that she was watching Caroline’s every move, which made me smile. May had once told me that her aunt and her parents taught her how to fight in many ways and although I wasn’t going to get my hopes up, I wanted to see how this would play out. Soon Caroline was done stalking her and was now walking towards May, sniffing and seeing what weak spots May had. I just prayed that there weren’t any weak spots visible. I wanted to turn away, not wanting to see May get hurt, but I just couldn’t and if it gets too bad then I am going to jump into the fight and stop Caroline. I know it was against the rules, but I couldn’t just stand here and let May get hurt, but then it happened. Caroline’s tiger lunged at May, but May did something that none of us ever thought she would do. She did a roundhouse kick and kicked Caroline’s tiger square in the gut. The yellow and black tiger fell to the ground, but quickly got back up and growled at her. May got into a very weird fighting stance, one that I hadn’t seen before and it made me curious as to what she was going to do. She stood with her legs apart, one behind the other and turned to the side, but then she did something weird with her arms and I wanted to see what she was going to do next. It looked pretty cool, but we will see how this will end and who will be the winner.
