A I

“You want us to babysit a vampire that is older than my uncle and is probably a psychopath considering the fact that he killed half a county, women and children included?!” Eve was quite hysterical, it seemed she had reached her limit of getting stupid missions and accepting them while I of course just stood there at her side, slightly shocked, slightly excited and almost angry. Tony’s jaw tucked, he looked like he had expected this sort of reaction but yet he looked angry. “You seem to be forgetting that I am ranks higher than you Miss Yale, it would do you right to stop raising your voice at me” Tony said, he sounded angry and I found it funny, not sure why though. “And you seem to forgetting that you are just a dog under my uncle and you are decades younger than me!” Eve retorted, her glare intense. Tony slammed his palms down on his desk, the action startling both Eve and I. “If you’re so old how come you’re still below me when it comes to rank? Age doesn’t matter in this world, wisdom and common sense does and you clearly lack both…severely” Ok…this was fun to watch when it first started but now it seemed to be getting out of hand. They both standing in front of each other, their noses almost touching and their glared enough to heat the room up by a few degrees. Eve’s fists were clenched and green and red veins soon began to pop out around her eyes. Shit! She was going into full vampire mode. “s**t, both if you just calm the f**k down…we aren’t f*****g children!” I said as I got in between the both of them and made sure that there was enough space between them. They both dislike each other for some reason, always arguing, always having misunderstandings and always glaring at each other whenever the spotted themselves. It has always baffled me how two people that grew up together or rather known each other for close to fifty years have such an enmity…they can’t stand each other and it beats me… I have always wondered what the cause is. Tony was the first to back down, as usual, he is the composed and calm headed one. He inhales deeply and then exhales a long needed breath before sitting back in his chair and sipping the glass of water that I had not noticed till his hand reached for it. “Now…” once I was sure they were both calmer and Eve’s skin was back to normal, I could finally speak. “When do we start?” I ask Tony, he looked out of sorts for a few seconds like he couldn’t comprehend my question and the he muttered and “Oh…the mission” under his breath before he started going through the file that Eve had slammed on his desk in anger. “Tomorrow, Cullen will be released tomorrow” Tony confirmed with a nod while I fought the urge to groan out loud. And here I was thinking I would have at least a week off to do a whole lot of stupid s**t like eat and sleep and then eat again but instead… Well, what can I say, this is exactly what I signed up for but now I find myself missing the boring life funnily enough…I began to ponder how possible it would be to get out of a signed contract that dedicated the next one hundred years of my life to them. “Ok, well I guess I will see you both first thing tomorrow morning, you can give us the details then…right?” I ask. Tony raised his head to look at me and then a few seconds later he looks away and then coughs into his fist or was he clearing his throat? “Yeah…yeah, you should both be here at least ten am sharp” Cute Tony, I almost feel sorry for him whenever I notice how unconsciously uncomfortable he is in my presence but then again I have to admit that is quite a fun sight to see. “Hmph!” Eve walks out of the room in large strides, her heels hitting the ground rhythmically as she left the office. I gave Tony a small apologetic smile which he returned with a shy smile of his own. Then I left his office as well, not really following behind Eve. I headed for the elevator and once I was in it, I pushed the button for the third floor which was also where the entrance to the organization was located. To the outside world, the organization was S.S.C.P News… a very famous channel that provided the country with the best gossip and politics new but then, about thirty feet under the building is an organization that no one knows about except for the actual employees of course and the only way to go in was through an elevator that required a card to function. All employees of the S.S.C.P have been provided this card well except for the clueless human employees in the top floors. Everyone thinks that those elevators were made for only the higher-ups but in reality…well you already know. With a tired sigh, I dragged my dead best body out of the building, my head felt heavy and I was in desperate need of sleep. I ignored the looks I got from the ‘normal staff’, their eyes always followed whoever left the elevator and on some occasions, they try to curry favor with you just so that they could get a raise or some s**t like that. The elevator was not the only way to get to the organization but it was the only way in the company so not many of us chose the elevator in the company just to avoid suspicion. They would all probably begin to wonder why so many people were higher-ups or some s**t like that…I don’t know, the S.S.C.P is weird… I don’t think I will ever understand them. I walked to the underground parking with my legs, I enjoyed walking there instead of taking the elevator…it helps me to clear my mind and think properly and it also prepares me for the one hour ride I was about to embark on in my car. I pulled out my car keys from my pocket and pushed the button that opened the doors automatically . The car was custom made, given to me by one of the members of the board of directors as a birthday gift. It was the first gift I had ever gotten from an employee that did not contain girly things people assumed I would like just because I was young...being twenty one is not a sin really what is really a sin is being twenty one and being so small and slender that you look like a seventeen year old. It was a grey sports car that I am pretty sure cost the man a fortune but then again it was worth it because his gift put me in such a good mood that I promoted him that very second. I enjoyed the looks on everyone’s face when I made the decision, especially the man who bought me a complete make-up set from a very expensive brand in Asia. The drive home was an hour and twenty minutes, once I was in my condo…another sigh escaped my lips. My shoulders slouched and I walked straight to the bathroom, dragging my feet on the ground like I was a starving zombie searching for it’s next meal. “You look like hell” my A.I housekeeper said, her voice came out through the tiny speakers that were placed discreetly around the house. I groaned “Gee thanks Moonlight, you don’t look too bad yourself” I said under my breath and I willed myself to strip and then step into the shower. “You should take a break, you blood pressure is a bit higher than normal and your body is slowly breaking down because if the lack of rest, your heart rate is abnormal and your—” “ –ok… ok moonlight, thanks for the check up I will be sure to keep your warnings in mind tomorrow, when I leave for work, again” I deadpanned, then she did that mechanical laugh that always seemed to irritate my ears. “I hope you fall into a puddle of your own exhaustion tomorrow, preferably one that has dog feces in it” “I hope you crash” I said, irritated as I turned in the shower and increased the temperature before standing under the jets of water. “I can’t crash” moonlight replied “I am way too expensive” she finished making roll my eyes. “f*****g Artificial Intelligence!” I muttered under my breath.
