“I just need a valid reason as to why we have been taken off the case!”

The assistant director, Tony, just stared at us with a passive expression like both Eve and I weren’t standing in front of him demanding answers. Eve was practically vibrating as she saw his reaction…she was about to turn on her b***h mode because she was getting angry.

“We have worked painstakingly to get to where we are today and I am pretty sure that my partner and I have both reached the level and rank where our cases or missions can’t just be taken away from us this easily” Eve says with a huff. Tony stared…like he always did, his eyes met mine and then he quickly looked away like he always does anytime he sees me. I guess he still thinks that I haven’t noticed that he has a huge crush on me, I find it a bit funny but then again who knows when it might come in handy one day.

“You see girls—”

“Girls?!” Eve’s expression changed in a split second “I am fifty years older than you Anthony!” she says angry and I couldn’t help but laugh under my breath as I noticed Tony’s cheeks flushing a bit. Tony seemed to be in his early thirties, grey eyes, brown hair…he wasn’t much of a looker but that didn’t make him ugly, his jaw was always squared and hardened with a serious expression on his face…it makes him unbelievably attractive…I would’ve f****d him a long time ago but then again, I have an unspoken rule about having s*x with my employees or my colleagues most especially the ones from the S.S.C.P.

“Sorry” he clears his throat “Ladies...” he corrected “The director had given me strict orders to take you both off the case”

Eve’s eyes narrowed and the ignored my knowing look.

“I just knew it!” I said making Tony give me a glance for a split second before looking away again.

“Why the f**k would he even—”

“ –the director has given you both one of the most important missions in the organization”

My brow raised “Is that so?”

“Yes...he says he trusts no one else with it because it is very important to him and to the organization” Tony suddenly looked serious…well more serious than he usually looks. My curiosity was piqued while Eve looked like she still wasn’t convinced and I mean I couldn’t blame her…her uncle does have a lot of tricks up his sleeves.

“And pray tell what might that be?” She asks in a cynic tone. Tony sighs.

“Cullen Inber” Tony said and then gave some sort of dramatic pause like he was expecting us to gasp in surprise.

“Who?” Eve and I asked simultaneously. Tony’s eyes widened as he heard our question. He stood up from his desk just so he could look at the both of us properly.

“You do not know who Cullen Inber is?” I shake my head, I have never heard that name before…but he looked like we were supposed to know who exactly the Cullen-what’s-his-name is.

Tony turns to Eve and I expected it, Eve was older and was obviously note experienced in the supernatural world considering the fact that she was one herself. Eve shook her head as well.

“Never heard of him” she says making Tony sigh exasperatedly.

“Did you not read the history of this organization? How did you both pass the Agent Exams with such good results then?”

I rolled my eyes “Can you please get straight to the point Tony, I have to get home because I am f*****g exhausted from trying to solve a case that has now been taken off my hands so just tell who the Cullen guy is so I can be on my merry way”

“Please” Eve nodded in agreement. We were both tired as hell and I was really looking forward to continuing the sleep that Eve had so rudely interrupted.

“Cullen Inber, he is the most notorious criminal that this organization has ever caught…when we were just starting out…”

“Oh please…you weren’t even born then” Eve scoffed, Tony glared at her for a few seconds before he decided in his head that it wasn’t worth it and he continued with his story and honestly I couldn’t wait for him to be done. I could almost imagine my head sinking into my soft strawberry scented pillow.

“Cullen is a Vampire that drained the blood of almost the entire citizens of a country…”

“ Oh!” I exclaimed realizing that the story sounded a bit too familiar “You mean Dracula?”

We were told the story of Dracula in some of the history books we were told to read, they said that his bloodlust got so intense that he murdered an entire country and then turned himself in afterwards…it was at least two hundred or a hundred years ago. The humans had said it was the plague that killed so many people in one day but the S.S.C.P knew better…

“Yes…you’re right, his name wasn’t really told in the history book so as to preserve his honor because he had turned himself in and accepted his sentence” Tony confirmed my suspicion. He pulled out a file from the drawer attached to his desk and placed it on top. He was giving it to us. Eve eyed it with a suspicious expression before taking it from the desk and then opening the file to go through it.

“So, what about this Cullen guy? What is the big deal?” I ask.

“Well, he’s being released” Tony replied, I was a bit shocked by it but still.

“And so?”

I noticed that Eve’s expression had changed into what I would be called shocked and angry and hysteric at the same time. She looked at Tony with a glare that I was sure would have killed him if only she could shoot flames out from her eyes.

“You want us to babysit a four-hundred-years-old vampire?!”

“What?” I also turned to look at Tony with a confused expression. I knew that the director was overprotective and intentionally have us missions that even children could handle but this was just borderline crazy! Babysitting?!!
