Doctors Or Not?

“…. stable”

“Vital signs?”

“ Normal sir”

Lights eyes opened abruptly, she jerked up with a gasp shocking the doctors that had just been giving her a check up. Her eyes met surprised dark orbs and then emotionless grey ones.

“You’re awake” the man with the grey eyes said, he had think rimmed glasses resting on his nose, red wild curls at the top of his hair which made him stand out by a lot. His lips were purser as he looked at her and Light couldn’t help but feel naked under his gaze.

“Where…” the hoarseness of her voice first shocked her, she placed her fingers on her throat while wondering why she sounded like she had swallowed a cat. “Where am I?” she tried again, this time her voice was louder but her words came out slow and somewhat slurred. The man with glasses had on a white doctor’s coat, both arms crossed over his chest but yet he was patient and waited for her to finish speaking.

The man next to him was smaller than him but Light knew he would still be taller than her is she was standing, he had black shaggy hair that reached his shoulders and tattoos ran up from the back of his palms and I that there were a lot on his neck as well that couldn’t even be hidden by the doctor’s coat he wore, his dark eyes bore into mine and his tongue played with the piercing than was in his lower lip.

They do not look like any doctors Light has ever come across, maybe the red haired one but then again his eyes were too cold…how is the patient supposed to stay calm if the doctor’s eyes do not show even a bit of warmth in them.

“My name is Dr. Timothy Brown but you can call me Dr. Brown” the red haired doctor, Dr. Brown said.

“This is my assistant…” he gestured at the tattooed doctor.

“Associate!” the tattooed doctor corrected making Dr. Brown roll his eyes.

“This is my ‘associate’ Dr. Pierce” Dr. Pierce nodded and Light couldn’t help but find a bit of irony in his name. Was he named Pierce because he had a piercing? She wondered.

“You are at a facility or rather a company called S.S.C.P”

“S.S.C.P?” Light’s brows furrowed “I’ve never heard of it” She says now genuinely confused and curious at the same time, it was then the memories came rushing in and her eyes widened slightly as she realized how she got to the strange hospital. She must have passed out from shock because of what she had witnessed or...she remembered feeling the sharp prick of a needle in her neck before everything went dark.

“Of course you haven’t heard of us, we are a secret organization that deals with incidents like the one you witnessed four hours ago” Dr. Brown said, his lips still pursed and his eyes still emotionless, he did not seem to mind the shock on Light’s face, he looked like he was used to it, like incidents like these had already happened many times before.

“So I wasn’t hallucinating? All that wasn’t a dream?!”

“Unfortunately, no” Dr. Brown shook his head, Light brought her fingers to her forehead and massaged her temples trying to ease the headache that was becoming more unbearable by the second.

“But why have you brought me here?” Light was not stupid, considering the way the man was looking at her, she was not brought here to just be treated and also there was hardly anything wrong with her, they were the ones who injected something into her neck that made her pass out.

“To get you treated and to make sure you stay silent about what you saw”

Light scoffs “How can you even expect that of me? That man...whatever the hell he was, killed an innocent woman, we have to report it to the police!” Light exclaimed. Both the doctors only stared at her like she was not speaking words which pissed her off.

“If you guys aren’t going to do it, I will!” the she proceeded to pull out the IV needle from her wrist and then she fling the sheets covering her off her body. The second she stood, the whole of the room began to spin and her legs gave out. She fell back on the bed with a plop and was now breathing heavily like she had just run a marathon.

“What...what did you do to me? You drugged me!” Light said weakly and Dr. Brown confirmed it by bedding.

“I did what I had to do to make sure you will stay put but do not worry, it will wear off soon enough with no side effects”

Light was pissed about the fact that he spoke like he hadn’t just admitted to drugging her, his face was like a blank sheet of paper, if the man had any remorse for what he had done, now would have been the perfect time to show it.

“Do not worry, all will be clear once you watch the video”

“What video?” Light sneered, she tried to sound and look lethal but because of her weakness she could only manage the angry and hurt child look. It amused Dr. Pierce, making him chuckle, the first thing he had actually contributed the this conversation.

“For now, you sleep and when you wake up everything will be explained to you properly”

“You’re going to drug me again?” Light couldn’t help but ask, she was afraid but she tried her best not to show it, she was in an unfamiliar place and she was speaking to unfamiliar people talking about something that she would not have dreamt she would be talking about a few days ago.

“I am not going to drug you Miss Light, you are only going to sleep sway the effects of the drug and then we can all sit down and talk properly” Dr. Brown says, reassuringly but Light did not want to fall for it because the man did not look sincere...despite his good looks that Light would never admit to his face.
