A Year Earlier...
He snarled, baring out his teeth that were most definitely not the pearly whites Light was used to seeing everyday.
Fangs.
And both of those long canines dripped with blood, making the rest if his teeth red…the blood trickled down from his lips down to his jaw and the a few if the droplets hit the ground. His eyes were on me though, pure red…blue and green veins surrounded the area around his eyes, looking like lightening in his skin.
He hisses and the edges of his lips curl up.
The woman whose bleeding neck he was still holding gasped for breath but it sounded like she was choking on her own blood in her mouth...she gurgled and convulsed in his hold. Her feet swung to and fro as the man refused to let her out of his hold. No...this was no man, this was most definitely not a man.
“Interesting” he says, Light stood there watching his blood stained lips move, her legs rooted to the ground in fear, she couldn’t move, she couldn’t scream, she could not make a sound.
“This is why there is always a curfew for little kids” the man said, the woman in his hold whose feet were still not touching the ground finally stopped struggling, her body went slack and Light fought the urge to scream knowing fully well that the woman had just died.
“f**k!” the man cursed before quickly burying his fangs deep in her neck, making Light witness the action for the second time that night.
“Look what you did...” He extracts his fangs from the woman’s corpse, his nose scrunched up in disgust. With a flick of his wrist, the woman’s body is flying and her dead cold body lands on the trash bags and that had been gathered behind the restaurant in the alley.
The man sticks his tongue out and licks the blood from his lips and then uses the back of his hand to wipe the remnant from his mouth.
“You made her die...they’re never sweet enough when they’re dead” The man said, his attention now fully on Light. Her legs finally moved as her fear increased, the man’s eyes were cold, lifeless but yet he had a smile on his face...Light moved back a few steps, fighting the urge to scream, she knew things would be worse. She looked around, her eyes surveying the area, looking for something, anything she could use to protect herself. Her eyes spotted a metal rod that seemed to be so rusted that it would probably break when she holds it but still, her heart beat louder in her chest as the moved her feet slowly...walking toward the direction of the metal rod.
“Pretty little thing, there is no need to b scared”
Light ignored his words because she knew it was bullshit, if course there were many reasons to be scared, for starters she had just witnessed a murder and the murder weapon was f*****g teeth! Still processing how she was going to tell the police about this…if she did make it to the police that is.
She wiped her sweaty palms against her denim jeans… .
Shit, all she wanted to do was go home and cry in peace…just nurse her broken heart and then get back up tomorrow, go to work, come back home and cry some more.
The government had suddenly put up curfews a few months ago, very strict curfews that made her think that maybe they had made a deal with the gangsters to only function at night or s**t like that.
She was tired, she did not want to walk three blocks and she could not drive because she was drunk as hell so she decided to take the shortcut she had been taking for years now every time she wanted to walk back home from work.
Years…
Tonight was different though, tonight she witnessed what she knew she shouldn’t have and she was pretty sure she was about to be killed as well.
“I bet you would taste magnificent on my tongue, you beautiful little creature” he bared out his fangs and hissed like a snake, Light’s leg finally hit the metal rod and she fought to stay and look calm so as to not spite the man to make any sudden movements.
“What are you?” She finally found her voice, the man’s brow raised like she had just asked the most stupid question in the history of stupid questions.
“Don’t you read books or watch movies? I have f*****g fangs and I just sucked all of the blood out that old lady over there” he gestured at the woman he had flung at the dumpsters, he laughs incredulously “What the f**k do you think I am?”
Now he stopped walking, stopped moving closer to her instead he put his hands on his waist while smiling at Light like she was a little animal that he was hunting.
“You’re…you’re a vampire”
“Of course I’m a vampire” he deadpanned “This isn’t f*****g Twilight angel” he says.
“Now…stop moving, I promise I will make it quick” he says and the lunges forward, Light quickly reached for the rod next to her leg and raised it up and held it and stood in a protective stance.
“Aww” the vampire chuckles, he tilts his head and then laughs harder.
“Is that supposed to hurt me?”
Light swung the rod, it meets his face creating a long red line from his right ear to the edge of lips. He sneers, his lips twitched as his smile slowly faded away.
“You shouldn’t have done that cupcake”
“ Stay away!” Light cried out, she gasped as she watched the bloody red gash she had created on his face, slowly close up, leaving his face covered in blood but no injury behind it.
“I was really beginning to like you but now...play time is over”
Light exhaled, she did not give up but she knew she had no chance against the man, she still held the rod in front of her, holding it tightly and feeling the rusted metal slowly crumble under her fingertips.
“Fool” a voice suddenly said and then a gunshot rang out. Light felt blood splatter all over her face, her eyes closed shut . She heard the sounds of footsteps and then the sound of a body hitting the ground. When she opened her eyes, she screamed as she saw the vampire bow on the floor, his eyes wide open with a bloody hole in his forehead.
People dressed in black just rushed to the scene, they were about ten but everything at that moment was a blur to Light. She felt a blanket around her shoulders and then she saw then handcuff the vampire’s legs and then his hands. The action baffled me but her legs and hands were to shaky to ask, too shaky to care. Suddenly she felt a sharp prick in her neck and then everything else faded away into nothingness but at the back of her mind, she was relieved…she had been saved.
