Rubeus woke with a start when the sun shined on his face. He ran a hand down it with a groan, and looked over at the time. The clock read six A.M., so he reluctantly got out of bed and ran into his closet quickly to get his work out clothes on. He was already late for training. Hopefully, Andy had already started without him.
He was hoping to get up, do training, come back, take a quick shower, and be back before the new guests woke up to take them down for breakfast. He walked out of his room into his living room. 'Andy I am on my way to training, sorry for being late.' He heard a soft chuckle in his head. 'You are the Alpha Rubeus, you are never actually late.' He shook his head at that, and didn't want his pack to think he was being lazy.
He wanted to be a better Alpha than his father, and it started with training. His father would go to training, but he was always late, and he spent most of the time helping the she-wolves with their training. Especially any of the ones he decided to have to warm his bed for the evening. He refused to be anything like his father, and he vowed not to be.
He would have considered taking the day off, but felt like he needed to get out his excess energy. He wanted to make sure they were as comfortable here as possible. He definitely didn't want his mate to leave. He hoped that she would want to stay with him, and that she would accept him as her mate. The thought of her rejecting him just tore up his insides, and he didn't like that. He pushed that thought out of his head as he walked out of his room.
He stepped out into the hall and shut his door, turning to see both Kai and Koe talking in the hall whispering to each other. He raised an eyebrow as he watched them, but he couldn't quite pick up the conversation. He walked toward the elevator. "Good morning boys. Why are you both up so early? I would have figured you two would have rested more."
Koe looked over at Rubeus, biting his bottom lip nervously. He looked at his brother, and then back at Rubeus. "We are always up before six for our training, regardless how much we sleep. We looked out the window and saw training had started, and were excited. We don't want to intrude. We were debating about asking you if we could join them..."
Kai nodded, agreeing with his brother. "We didn't see you down there, so we were about to come find you. We were honestly trying to decide which one of us was going to go knock on your door to ask. We were actually at the top of training at Shadow Pack, training to be assassins since we turned seven. I promise we really enjoy training, and we don't need the rest."
Rubeus nodded, listening to them and motioned them over to him. "Come, we'll take you down. It's right now just general training, but show me how well you are trained, and if you are up to it, we can put you through the elite training. Everyone who is here is welcome to train regardless of rank. We also even offer defense classes, and such. Will Raven be joining us as well?". He looked toward their door, and then back at them.
Koe shook his head as he and Kai walked over to Rubeus. "No, she is still sleeping. She was never allowed to train. She had to stay inside to cook and clean after everyone. Alpha Mark wanted a perfect slave for his chosen mate. He found his fated mate, and rejected her. When she spoke up against him to ask him why, he snapped her neck saying she would just get in the way. We learned to not ask questions, and just do what we were told to do. Otherwise you wouldn't like the ramifications," he trailed off.
Rubeus led them onto the elevator, raising an eyebrow and pressing the button for the first floor. "Sounds like he is similar to my father. He was also a cruel Alpha. I had to train hard until I felt confident I could defeat him. I am sorry for his treatment of you all. We actually have several Kitsune from Shadow Den already here. You might recognize some. I heard it was rather small. We have heard of their treatments, and I can just imagine your suffering." He ran his fingers through his hair nervously, clearly struggling for a moment to ask what he wanted. "So... would you... well, any of you... What I mean is, um… Are you thinking of joining us here at Red River pack? We can arrange for you to be initiated today."
Kai watched Rubeus with a soft smirk looking at his brother, as their eyes glassed over mindlinking each other. He looked at the elevator doors as they opened, and looked back at them, trying not to be nervous. "We discussed it last night, and if you are willing, we would all like to join the pack, and pledge allegiance to you, Alpha Rubeus."
Rubeus' face instantly lit up at the thought, and he walked them through the main hall of the packhouse. "Wonderful, you won't regret this, I promise you are more than welcome here. We will initiate you all after breakfast! It will make it harder for your old Alpha to find you here. We are actually enemy packs. We have some allied Kitsune packs, but not Shadow Den. I met the Alpha once, and we didn't exactly get along. I found him arrogant and cold."
He smiled brightly. His mate would be staying here. He couldn't have been any happier at the thought. He would actually be able to get to know her, and hopefully be able to grow their bond. At least one of his worries was gone, but he still had that fear that she would reject him.
