Raven smiled after Rubeus, watching him walk away, and shut the door. She turned to find Kai in the kitchen already snacking on chips. "Where is Koe?" She heard the sound of the shower running, then nodded when she heard him say already in the shower. "Nevermind, I see you already got something to eat." She looked around the kitchen, and couldn't believe how beautiful it looked. Everything looked brand new, and she almost felt guilty that she got to live here.
Kai snacked from the opened bag of chips, and he offered some to Raven. "Hey, I am still hungry after a full day without food. They have already stocked the cabinets. I already like it here, and I am kinda curious about their training. Koe and I want to keep up with that, so hopefully they'll allow it. Perhaps they have different ways of training. I want to learn everything I can. Despite everything, I kinda still want to be an assassin. Probably because it's been ingrained in my head since we were little. I want to be the best of the best."
Koe walked over to them with wet hair, but fresh clothes. "You mean in our brains. If you do something, I want to do it too. We have always had each other's back, and I would prefer if that didn't change." Her brothers always did everything together. She figured it had something to do with the fact they were twins.
Raven smiled at Kai, listening to him with a soft nod. "Just no murdering children. If you decide to do it, at least be an assassin with morals. I don't like it, but I won't stop either of you from doing what you love." She looked at Koe with a soft giggle. "That goes for you too. I want you both to be better than our father."
She watched Koe snatch the bag of chips from Kai. "Hey, that was my bag!". He watched his brother briefly just stuff his mouth with the chips. "It's mine now go take a shower you stink." Kai just growled at him, huffed, and walked off to go take his own shower.
She just chuckled, shaking her head. They were always stealing from each other. "Just don't eat too much and make yourselves sick."
Koe just chuckled at her, and nodded. "I promise I'll be a good assassin with morals. Also, I've never gotten sick eating food. Don't worry so much about me Sis. Why don't you go take a shower and relax? You didn't sleep or rest at all when we were out. You were constantly on alert, so take time for yourself now, Raven."
Koe hugged his sister gently, and kissed her cheek. "We left you the master, we'll take the other two rooms right beside you. Call if you need anything Rae. I mean it, we will come running." He hugged her once more before taking off with the chips to his own room that he picked out.
Raven looked around the living room and saw a hallway with a number of doors. Her brothers had clearly already explored it while she spoke to Rubeus. She walked down the hall, passing the door Koe went into. She heard a shower running and walked to the next door. She opened the door to see the Master's bedroom. Her eyes widened at the king-sized canopy bed. She shut the door, looking around the room, seeing a rack of clothes. She picked out a set of Pajamas from it before walking over to a closed door. She opened it up, seeing it was a walk-in closet, and closed it again. She walked to the next door and discovered that it led to the biggest bathroom she had ever seen.
She stepped into it, seeing a huge bathtub and a stand-up shower. It was fully stocked with all kinds of different bath products and towels. She looked between the shower and the bath, trying to decide which she wanted to use first. She yawned softly, feeling her sudden exhaustion. She knew her choice. She walked to the shower vowing to take a nice long bath tomorrow after a good night's sleep. She finished showering and putting on fresh clothes.
She stepped out into the bedroom and took a look around the beautiful room, vowing to thank Rubeus again as she crossed to the bed. She climbed in and moaned as she curled up in the bed. It felt like a bed of clouds. She never had a mattress this soft. Her old mattress was old and tattered, and you could feel the springs in it. This one she didn't feel anything but soft and comfortable.
She started to sob all of a sudden. The day finally caught up to her. She was safe, but she missed her mother terribly, and was worried about her. She tried not to be worried, but she just knew that her mother was probably being tortured because she had helped them escape. She still felt that connection to her mother, so she knew she was alive. However, it didn't make the hurt she felt in her heart any easier.
Raven looked up when she heard the door to her room open as her brothers walked in, and she quickly wiped away her tears. "I am fine. Just worried about Mama, you don't need to worry about me guys seriously." She watched Kai climb into bed on one side of her. "We're not worried Rae, we just want to stay with you." She wiped her tears then moved to the middle so Koe could climb in on the other side of her. She gave each of her brothers a hug, before settling in bed. This place was new, and being together felt safer, she understood.
She laid awake, waiting for her brothers to finally drift off to sleep. She heard their soft snores which were soothing to her. She had done what she had promised her mother she would do: She had kept them both safe. She knew she would be proud of her, and that was the only thing keeping her from sobbing. She curled up under the nice warm blankets, and the soft plush bed she never had before.
She knew that she would most likely get the best night's sleep she ever had in this bed. At least she was looking forward to that.
